Specify the EMAIL option

<email vmail=no format=html>

Tag attributes:

vmail=<yes|no> -- This attribute is only used for batch jobs. Specifies whether or not

the VMAIL DD is to be used to define the email recipients.

The default is no. This attribute is optional.

format=<html|txt|pdf> -- Specifies the format of the email attachment.

html -- attachment will be an html file with a suffix of ".htm".

txt -- attachment will an ASCII file with a suffix of ".txt".

pdf -- attachment will in PDF format with a suffix of ".pdf".

Note: This requires the TXT2PDF tool to be installed. See the

Vanguard Installation Guide for more information.

Note: If CSV tag is present the FORMAT= parameter is overridden.

– DATE Date (Mon DD, CCYY)

– TIME Time (HH:MM)

• Simplifies breaking apart a report for distribution

• Be sure the input records are sorted by the same

key field.

Displaying only a portion of a field

• Sometimes you don’t want a large field printed on a

single line.

• Use parsing parameters on the field name

• Example:

– Installation data is a 255 byte field

– Break it into 50 byte fields and place on multiple lines

– Format: fieldname<s:l> where S is the starting position

and L is the length to parse out

– Example:

• &INSTDATA<1:50>

• &INSTDATA<51:50>

– Use <report skipallblanks=y> to suppress blank lines

Reformatting fields

• Use the FLDEXIT tag to reformat fields on a report

• As report lines are being generated, the specified

exit is called to allow you to modify the field contents

• The “exit” is written in REXX and stored in a PDS

that is in the SYSPROC DD concatenation.

• A sample can be found in SAMPLIB(FLDEXIT)

• Examples:

– You want the RACINIT date to display in Mon day,Year

format, but it is in MM/DD/YYYY format.

– Rather than displaying the Extraordinary data fields as

SP,OP,AU you want to make it a “Y” if it is found.

name=EXITNAME -- Name of the QG exit. This is a

1 to 8 character member name.

Why would I need a CSV file?

• Use Vanguard’s masking functionality to select the

records you are looking for.

• Create a formatted file that is compatible for

importing into a spreadsheet

• Extract specific fields or all fields for that report type

CSV Tag format

<csv allfields=no separator=',' header=none>

allfields=<yes|no

If allfields=yes is specifed, all fields will be included in the

CSV record.

separator='<char>'

This attribute specifies the field separator character used in

the CSV records.

header=<none|fieldnames>

This attribute specifies if row 1 should be a header record.

If fieldnames is specified, then the field name will be used

as the column heading.

Note: Default values are shown above
