Youth Ministry 6th-12th Graders

All Middle School Youth (entering 6-9th grade) are invited to join Anchor EDGE for a Campfire Bible Study on Thursdays, from

7-8:30pm, from 6/11-8/13/2020, at the St. Cecilia School Soccer Field. Social Distancing will be observed for all in-person gath-

erings. Bible Study will be canceled in the event of rain or other inclement weather.

New Small Group Bible Study Starting May 20 for All High School Students

Starting May 20, Kayla and other leaders will be leading a small group Bible Study discussing the Psalms online. There are 150

Psalms and each week we will discuss one Psalm, so join when you can! This Bible Study will be conducted over Zoom on

Wednesday nights from 7:15-8:45pm. All high school students are welcome to attend. The Bible Study will continue through the

summer. When gathering restrictions are lightened or lifted, we will shift our online Bible Study to outside at a park in Ames.

Join us online at https://csbsju.zoom.us/j/98299331220. Cannot wait to have you join us to learn what Psalms mean and how

to pray with them!

Visiting/Chatting with Kayla (Social Distance Style)

Kayla will have a chair set outside of her office window for anyone who wants to come visit and talk with her! This

chair will be open to whoever needs a listening ear and someone to talk to. When in the office, there will be a flag

flying in a planter in front of the main entrance to church! Come on over!

Faith Formation

Weekend Mass will resume the weekend of June 13 / 14.

We've missed you and are looking forward to seeing you again ---but only when you are comfortable coming

back to Mass. Dispensation of the obligation for Sunday Mass continues. Persons with serious pre-existing

health conditions, weakening of overall health due to age, or those who simply do not want to possibly

expose themselves to the virus should consider staying home.

1. Mass time on Saturday evenings will be at 5pm; Sunday morning Mass time will be 10am.

2. Father asks that everyone arrive 15 - 30 minutes prior to Mass time to ensure that everyone is here and seated before Mass begins.

3. Parishioners are to use the north parking lot only. The parking lot will be blocked off 10 minutes prior to the start of Mass.

4. No one will be allowed into the church once Mass begins.

5. Everyone will be required to wear a mask.

Stewardship: In the second reading today, St. Paul

reminds the Corinthians, “There are different gifts, but the

same Spirit, there are different ministries, but the same Lord.”

How am I using my gifts for the common good?

Prayer &

Thought

Marriage Corner: “There are different kinds of spiritual gifts

but the same Spirit.” (1 Cor 12:4) What are the different gifts

that you and your spouse have been given? Affirm the gifts of

your spouse today.

Please celebrate Mass with us on

Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 10am

Mass will be livestreamed on Facebook and YouTube

“Father Jim’s Neighborhood”

Please check out this weekly program that will be posted

Tuesday afternoons after 4pm.

The link to the program will also be featured in our Tuesday

“Let’s Stay Connected” email,

Facebook, YouTube and on the front page of our website.

The school will remain closed the

rest of the school year. Principal

Sara Rooney will continue to share

updates via emails and the school

Facebook site. Mrs. Rooney will

also continue praying the Rosary at 9am each Wednesday

(on Facebook).

CARES Act Charitable Giving Impact

The stimulus package provides new opportunities to promote

charitable giving in 2020. All taxpayers, IF they are in a

position to give at this time, can give up to $300 ($600 for

married couples filing jointly) to charities, including all

parishes and Catholic Schools, AND receive a charitable gift

deduction on their federal taxes. This is “above the line”

meaning taxpayers do not need to itemize to receive this

deduction. Also, the limit on how much a taxpayer, who

itemizes, can deduct for charitable contributions has been

increased to 100% of his/her adjusted gross income. The

Archdiocese of Dubuque, in partnership with the Catholic

Foundation in the Archdiocese of Dubuque (CFAD) is pleased

to provide each parish with more specific information about

this and other programs. For more information about how

CFAD can partner with your parish or school, contact Michele

Brock at [email protected].

If you or someone you know is in need, please visit the United

Way of Story County website to view a list of local resources.

This includes access to food, financial stability information,

mental health supports and more. This page is updated in

real-time as needs emerge and solutions are identified. Please

visit www.uwstory.org/covid-19-resources.
