Meccaniche Veloci appoints Riccardo Monfardino as its new CEO
Luxury watch maker Meccaniche Veloci S.A. has announced the appointment of Riccardo Monfardino as the new Chief
Executive Officer of the Geneva-based company.
Monfardino has nearly twenty years of experience in the watchmaking and luxury sectors in Switzerland. During that period,
he held several senior executive positions in the industry, notably over fifteen years as Sales Director at Franck Muller. A
native of Sardinia, Italy, he began his career as a goldsmith and a jeweler before setting an international course for himself
with a move to Switzerland.
Riccardo Monfardino's tasks will be to expand the Meccaniche Veloci's commercial network. He will work closely with
Cesare Cerrito, who heads the private-limited company as Executive Chairman. Cerrito was appointed Executive Chairman
of Meccaniche Veloci in March, when the management of the brand was taken over by the new Geneva-based
company. This move ensured that the brand will maintain Italian design while keeping its “Swiss made” label.

As an independent magazine, we at Europa Star have respect for the equally
independent watch brands that take on the established big boys of the industry.
MECCANICHE VELOCI is one of those brands. And recently they have been
making noise in the industry that would rival the turbo-charged car engines that
inspire their timepieces.
At Baselworld, the brand debuted its new Corsacorta Evo watch, one of the must-
have watches for next season. For all you engineering buffs, the Corsacorta Evo is
inspired by a specific type of engine, where the pistons’ stroke (Corsa) is shorter
(Corta) than the cylinder’s diameter. In automotive terms, it allows the engine to
gain more power at its highest capacity. In watch terms, it means a well-
engineered watch that performs well under any occasion.
But the news from the company didn’t end just at Baselworld. On April 13th, the
brand announced the appointment of Riccardo Monfardino as its new Chief
Executive Officer. The native Sardinian is no stranger to the watchmaking and
luxury sectors. Trained as a goldsmith and a jeweler before his move north to
Switzerland, Monfardino spent over fifteen years as Sales Director at Franck Muller.
His main task will be to manage the brand’s recent (and quite rapid) expansion,
which also coincides with their move to Geneva.
It seems that good things do happen when one combines Italian design and Swiss
execution in watchmaking. Keep an eye out for more from MECCANICHE VELOCI,
because the Corsacorta Evo is meant to be just the first of several launches

Meccaniche Veloci S.A. annonce la nomination de Riccardo Monfardino en tant que
Chief Executive Officer de la société basée à Genève.
Riccardo Monfardino a plus de 20 ans d’expérience dans l’horlogerie et le secteur du luxe
en Suisse. Durant cette période, il occupe de nombreux postes à responsabilités, dont ce-
lui de directeur commercial de Franck Muller où il a travaillé pendant plus de quinze ans.
Natif de Sardaigne en Italie, il commence en tant qu’orfèvre et horloger avant de voir sa
carrière prendre une dimension internationale lorsqu’il arrive en Suisse.
« Je suis ravi d’avoir accepté cette proposition et d’être de retour à Genève, ville dans
laquelle est située le siège social de Meccaniche Veloci», Monfardino a déclaré. «Ma
priorité est d’amener une véritable valeur ajoutée à cette marque et de contribuer au
renforcement de sa position stratégique sur le marché. Nous sommes dans une phase
cruciale de croissance et nous devons compter sur un investissement sans faille de la part

Les missions que Riccardo Monfardino va devoir mener seront d’étendre le réseau com-
mercial de Meccaniche Veloci. Pour ce faire, il va travailler en étroite collaboration avec
Cesare Cerrito, Executive Chairman de la société.
Cesare Cerrito a déclaré : « Meccaniche Veloci connait une période d’expansion rapide

Cesare Cerrito est nommé Executive Chairman en mars au moment où la gestion de la

Lo stile corsaiolo del marchio Meccaniche Veloci è interpretato con linee più essenziali in
questo modello solotempo. Il tratto stilistico che lo distingue dagli iconici Quattro Valvole e
Due Valvole è il particolare attacco del cinturino realizzato tramite due brancard laterali

Charme. Wie bei seinem Vorläufer dient auch beim neuen Modell eine bestimmte Art von
Motor als Inspirationsquelle: Bei diesem ist der Kolbenhub (Corsa) kürzer (Corta) als die
Zylinderbohrung (Durchmesser), um eine größere Spitzenleistung bei höchster Kapazität zu
erzielen. Dies ist ein speziell für Hochleistungsmotoren wichtiges Detail, welches das Herz
von jedem Motor- und Technik-Fan höher schlagen lässt.
Stilistisch sticht die Corsacorta Evo auch durch ihre markante Bandbefestigung mit farblich
kontrastierenden Bandanstößen hervor. Ihr Gehäuse ist flacher als jene von Meccaniche
