4.How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning

We used media technologies to good affect during the construction and research of our music video. For starters we used our laptops to view music videos and gain inspiration for deciding which song to choose. Once the song was decided we all got given full HD cameras to go and film in various location in the college and in London also. Also for the front and back album covers there was a photo-shoot via an iphone camera which we later on edited and produced a front and back album cover on adobe Photoshop. We also used IMACs when editing and constructing our music video. We used an array of different techniques and themes to enhance the video and to make it appeal more to the viewer.

Twitter pages

We used social media in a way to promote our artist and our music video. We used twitter as it is one the most renown social networking sites in the world. We regularly update our page with news and will publish the video on here also.

YouTube

We are using YouTube to distribute our video. We have released a sample copy of it online to get a rough idea of what it might look like and are currently editing and adding more and we will put the final copy on YouTube soon. And we set up an account to distribute the video.

Blogger

I have used blogger to post all my recent work and updates also. This will additionally link in with our twitter page also. We update what we will do next in our project and how we are going to do it.We used blogger as again it’s a brilliant free service that is simple to use.

Q3. 3.What have you learned from your audience feedback- twitter, social media, screen grabs- feedback from peers

As a group we learned many things from our audience research. We received written feedback from all 4 groups also making music video. Many recurring themes such as using different camera angles, different locations came up, although many people did agree with the choice of song, people also liked they idea of us having a twitter page as it’s a way of communicating to people and it will also promote our brand.

We also used a website called survey monkey to help gain feedback from our peers. We asked members of the class questions such as what they would like to see in a rap/RNB video and if they want to see performance based elements in there and many more questions. The answers were results such as wanting to see a performance in the video and also have the general conceptions in a rap video.

Web based communication also tends not to be as reliable as people may not answer truthfully online compared to maybe face to face communication.

Also we did a treatment video which shower members of the class our ideas for the upcoming media project. This enabled viewers to get a glimpse of the idea of our music video.

We also did some on the street audience research also to gain feedback from members of the public, the results where that many wanted to see a performance based show and just the general convections in rap.

Q1. .In what ways does your media produt use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products.

A shot that shows a link between lyrics and or music and visuals As we can see in this shot in one of the starting scenes the lyrics

are “ more louis v, my mamma could not get through to me , the link that’s there between the lyrics and the visuals is that as the lyric comes to more louis Vitton the artist points to his louis v belt therefore establishing a link in our music video, this is performance based.

+ A shot that typifies the way the record company would want there

artist to be represented As we can see the shot below is a shot in how a record company would

want to portray the artist. We can see by the use of Mise en scene that the rapper appears in typical rapper gear. With a NFL shirt, beats headphones and louis Viton scarf and beanie hat we can tell that the artist is represented in a very arrogant, wealthy way.

Meanwhile in another video by Eminem “rap god” the artist is portrayed as the centre of attention, with typical rapper clothing such as a chain on him and with him being in the middle with expensive clothing on him this shot has links with our one as again both the artists are in the centre of the frame.

5. A shot that demonstrates your use of cameraIn our music video we have tried many shots that would give our audience a different view of the artisit for example in our video in the shot below. We have a low angle shot because there is a link between the lyrics and he can engage with the audience more and we wanted to create a effect where he is talking to the audience. We can compare our shot to fuse odgs song “million pound girl "where it shows the artist from a extreme low angle, this can be because the artist is the main attraction of the clip

. A shot that illustrates how your video uses music genre

The music genre of our video is rap/rnb. Our target audience for this video is 15+.We have a number of shots that shows our music genre, our genre is about an artist involved in performance based elements with comedy elements. Therefore for example this shot has a comedy element in it and we have included typical rap convections in our video, such as some settings and gestures. We took inspiration from zach from the hangover version of the song and added something different to the video.

. A shot that demonstrates your use of mise-en-scene

In the clip we have many shots that have uses of mise en scene. This also can fit in with our genre for example in our video our artist is portrayed as an ordinary rapper we can tell this by his clothing and gestures, these are all convectional as shown in the picture.

If we look at meek mills new song I don’t know he again is portrayed in a unique way but we can all tell he is a rapper purely because of what he is wearing with relation to the headphones and gestures.

Two shots which you feel demonstrate something which shows you have watched other music videos

Are first shot is our mirrored black and white image of the artist rapping in a studio, we took inspiration from the Kanye west ft jay z video where they use a mirrored effect on the crowd and on themselves whilst performing we thought that this would be a great effect as we want the viewer to experience many effects.

Are second shot is the artist rapping in front of a car, we took inspiration from meek mills video believe where himself and rick ross are rapping in front of a vehicle, this portrays the general stereotypical convections of rap such as wealth and as a group we thought it was important to have many convections.

Page 14: Media Evaluation Questions

. A shot that shows an intertextual reference

We chose a shot that was influenced by Eminem and lil waynes song “no love” where we decided to show a producer in the studio helping to produce the song. We decided to use this shot to have something different in our video instead of the whole performance being a performance based one.We wanted viewers to see a different element in our video.

A shot that demonstrates your use of lightingWe did not have that many shots that demonstrated our use of lighting but in one shot we used the use of lighting to our advantage, when shooting a scene in London we used the advertising lights as we know it would be a great setting in the video and as the shot was taken at night the area would be well lit.
