30 FRANCHISE FACTS RECORDS HISTORY 2016 IN REVIEW PLAYERS MANAGEMENT Mindy Black was hired as the team’s Director of Performance Nutrition on June 15, 2016 and is entering her second season with the organization. She is responsible for designing the team’s meals and personal nutrition plans in order to optimize player performance, recovery, and injury prevention. Mindy is board-certified in Sports Dietetics. Her past experience includes serving as a Sports Nutritionist for the University of Florida Athletic Association and Jacksonville University. She also owned a private practice in Jacksonville, where she worked with many professional and elite athletes of various sports. A.J. Neibel enters his first season with the Jaguars after joining the organization on February 22, 2017. In his current role, Neibel will assist the medical staff, as well as the strength & conditioning staff, in transitioning players back into participation following injury. Neibel will also manage performance data for the coaching staff. Neibel spent the previous six seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, most recently serv- ing as the athletic performance manager in 2016. From 2013-15, Neibel served as the head strength & conditioning coach, after spending the 2011-12 seasons as the assistant strength & conditioning coach. Additionally, Neibel worked for the Atlanta Falcons’ Physical Therapy Center in Snellville, Ga., before joining the team’s athletic performance staff. Neibel joined the Falcons in 2011 after a two-year stint as a strength and condi- tioning consultant with the San Francisco Giants of the Major Baseball League and their affiliate, the San Jose Giants. Prior to joining the San Francisco Giants, Neibel spent six seasons with the Oakland Raiders as the strength and conditioning/sports medicine associate. Neibel is a USAW certified, level one, Olympic lifting coach, a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with National Strength and Conditioning Association, and cer- tified in Russian Kettle bell training. Neibel, a native of Cupertino, Calif., graduated from Long Beach State University in 1996 with a degree in sports psychology before earning a degree in physical therapy from Cerritos College in 1998. Neibel first broke into the NFL when he started with the Oakland Raiders as a strength and conditioning intern in 2003. Scott Trulock was hired as the Jaguars head athletic trainer on February 10, 2014 and is entering his fourth season with the organization. Trulock, who spent the previous seven seasons as the head athletic trainer for the University of North Carolina’s foot- ball program, joined the Jaguars with 11 years of NFL experience. Trulock began his career in the NFL as an assistant athletic trainer with the Philadel- phia Eagles from 1996-98. Trulock then worked for the San Diego Chargers from 1999- 2001 before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as the director of rehabilitation from 2002-03. Trulock won a Super Bowl ring in 2002 when the Buccaneers defeated the Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII. Trulock spent three seasons (2004-06) as an assistant athletic trainer with the Denver Broncos. During his tenure in the NFL, Trulock has been a member of the Professional Football Athletic Trainers’ Society (PFATS). In the PFATS, Trulock has served as the director of research for the research and education foundation. In this role, Trulock was responsible for spearheading the surveillance of injury data in order to establish trends in injury patterns to NFL players. Trulock, a native of Orlando, Fla., earned his undergraduate degree in sports medicine from Valdosta State in 1994, and his master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996. Dr. Kevin Kaplan is in his fifth season as the Jaguars’ head team physician after serv-ing as the Jaguars’ associate orthopaedic surgeon from 2009-13. He is responsible for all orthopaedic matters dealing with injuries to the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. Kaplan is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery with a specialty certification in Sports Medicine and maintains a private practice at the San Marco location of the Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute. He completed his orthopaedic residency at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases and a fellowship at the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles. During his fellowship, Dr. Kaplan served as an as-sistant team physician for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Kings and Anaheim Ducks.

He is a member of the NFL Physician Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Kaplan is also a team physician for the Jacksonville Sharks, Jacksonville University, University of North Florida and Atlantic Coast High School.

Dr. Michael Yorio is in his fourth season as the team’s internal medicine physician. He is responsible for all matters dealing with illnesses and non-orthopaedic injuries.

Dr. Yorio is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine. He sees patients at the San Marco office of Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute. Prior to arriving in Jack-sonville, Dr. Yorio served as the director, player medical services for the U.S. Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadows, N.Y. He was also team physician for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League, and has served as team physician for the University of Maryland at College Park, Hofstra University and Molloy College.
