Meeting of the Board of Management & 15th Regional Conference of the German Branch of INLA INLA’s Board of Management will be meeting on 28 September, 2017, in Bonn, Germany, on the sidelines of the 15th Regional Conference of the German Branch of INLA (28-29 September) with as its overarching theme “Nuclear Law in Motion”. The topical sessions will address nuclear waste management, nuclear third party liability – with a focus on transport of nuclear material, legal issues in radiation, and current trends in German and international nuclear law. The conference announcement has been enclosed by way of Annex 1 to this INLA Update. The main purpose of the joint meeting is to identify the topics which the respective WGs would like to address during the 2018 Nuclear Inter Jura Congress in Abu Dhabi. Meeting of the Board of Management & 15th Regional Conference of the German Branch of INLA

INLA’s Board of Management will be meeting on 28 September, 2017, in Bonn, Germany, on the sidelines of the 15th Regional Conference of the German Branch of INLA (28-29 September) with as its overarching theme “Nuclear Law in Motion”. News from the INLA Working Groups

o Joint WG meeting on Wednesday 3rd – Thursday 4th May in Karlsruhe, Germany

§ Working Group 1 (Safety & Regulation), Working Group 3 (New Build) and Working Group 5 (Waste Management & Spent Fuel) will be holding a joint meeting on 3-4 May, 2017, at the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Karlsruhe, Germany (including a 0,5 day technical visit of the JRC facilities). The Secretary of WG5, Alexandra Van Kalleveen, European Commission, has kindly offered to host this joint WG meeting.

Academic Corner – training programs & publications  

o A. Nuclear Law Association, India – Nuclear Energy & Law Course: 6-11 March, 2017:

§ The Nuclear Law Association’s 2017 Course on "Nuclear Energy and Law" was held between 6-11 March 2017 at the TERI University, New Delhi, and attracted about 35 participants, including research scholars from the Asian region. This year too, NLA India could count on lecturers from India’s Department Atomic Energy (DAE), the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL), the Atomic Energy and Regulatory Board (AERB), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA), INLA and various lawyers from the US, UK and India, to enrich the course ! o C. Closer Cooperation between INLA and WNA – ongoing discussions:

§ INLA is also in discussion with Helen Cook, Chairperson, Law Working Group, WNA, on how WNA and INLA members could benefit more from the meetings and research undertaken by these respective associations. We will keep you updated on the developments in this regard.

Price for INLA – Membership fees deadline for payment 30th April 2017 – Introducing PayPal

All good things come with a price! We try to keep the membership fee as nominal as possible and would encourage all INLA members to kindly settle any outstanding membership fees at the earliest.

For 2017, the INLA Board of Management has decided to fix the membership fee's amount at 90,00 EUR for ordinary members and 20,00 EUR for students and such fees must be paid before 30th April 2017.

As you know, the PayPal system has now been launched to facilitate all membership payments; or for onward disbursement by the domestic chapters of the membership fees they collected. Should you have any questions in this regard, please, don’t hesitate to contact: [email protected]
