The Model G20 (MG20) are global summits where high schoolers from around the world convene for a true-to-life simulation of the G20 Summit. Through a series of workshops, formal and informal negotiations, and working in intercontinental teams, students hone their cross-cultural communication, strategic thinking, and leadership craft. Simulating roles of heads of state and ministerial members of the G20, students engage with the most pressing global challenges and explore collaborative solutions with their peers.

What is Model G20?

What is mG20 in Action?

“With collaborative activities, games, and workshops, club members learn to become global citizens, build fundamental leadership skills, explore the realm of foreign relations, and develop new perspectives. ”

Kiara O.Dominican Academy

Dartmouth College, Class of 2024

Laying the foundation of the global Model G20 community, mG20 in Action is an extracurricular club for high school students to explore contemporary issues in both online and in-classroom formats. Students develop an understanding of how global issues manifest in the local context through gamified content, animated videos, and short video lectures and readings. Individual assignments and group projects are designed to enhance college readiness, hone soft skills, and help students prepare for life in an increasingly interconnected world.

Why start an extracurricular club?

High school graduates are required to display a wide array of competencies, independent knowledge, and universality in their thinking, whether it’s in their classrooms, in their college applications, or in the 21st century workplace. With growing demands for holding core academic time sacred, student clubs provide an excellent opportunity to bolster these non-academic skills.

It all starts at a young age. Studies show that high school students who engage in extracurricular activities have higher indicators of school success and SAT test scores.

Research conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics found that participation in extracurricular activities has a positive correlation to students’ attendance, GPA, test scores, and expected educational goals.

In a study by the College Board, researchers found that high school participation is correlated with higher SAT scores. The study found that participation in extracurricular activities increased SAT math scores by 45 points and SAT verbal scores by 53 points.

Highly interactive workshops give students the space to develop their leadership capacity, enhance their problem-solving ability, and build 21st century skills.

impACT: Global Priorities is a two-week immersive role-play simulation. During this first week, students explore hypothetical scenarios that feature complex and highly relevant real-world problems.

Students take a deep dive into current issues and share their opinions through Knovva Academy’s international, online community. There, students experience, present, and discuss diverse perspectives with club members worldwide.

Calling on the skills developed in Week 1 workshops, students are immersed in role-playing simulations that rely on Week 2 knowledge. They must take a stance on an issue, develop a persuasive strategy, and write and deliver a speech to a Deciding Committee of their peers.
