Recent Changes• Payment through ECS

• Min Dependent benefit has been raised to Rs. 12000/- pm per family unit

• The ESI scheme has been extended to cover educational and medical institutions in 20 states

• The Payment of conveyance allowance to the insured person @ Rs. 100 is being made for submission of Life Certificate once in a year in Permanent Disability Benefit Cases

• Medical Benefit Expenditure increased from Rs. 2123.67 crores in 2010-11 to 2689.67crores in 2011-12

Employees State Insurance Act 1948 (ESI)• It provides health care and cash benefit payments in the case of

sickness, maternity and employment injury

• Employees in factories and establishments drawing wages up to 15000/- PM are entitled to ESI benefits

• The scheme is mainly financed by employers and employees in the ratio of 4.75% and 1.75% respectively
