READING

The Printing Press

Infer the purpose of the text by writing the principal facts found in the text

Analyze a selected text by using reading techniques Write questions related to the text using the FIVE

techniques. Express their ideas clearly in a conversation about

the impact the invention had in history

STRATEGIES TO ACTÍVATE BACKGROUND KNOWLEDGE.

Motivatión:- T asks SS to observe the images and make them work on three processes: describe, interpret, and

evaluate. Ask them to report orally- Background knowledge :

What is the man doing? What was this ladle used for? What were these carved print blocks used for.?What do you think the three pictures illustrateSS brainstorm ideas to s a dialogCognitive conflict:In what ways did people communicate words and ideas to each other before the invention of the telegraph, the telephone, the radio, and the computer? What is the text about? What is the printing press?

Then the teacher tells the SS the topic of the class and expresses orally the learning goals. T gives instructions to start Reading the article

BASIC:

STRATEGIES TO PROCESS THE INFORMATION - SS look at the key words on the board, and elicit their meaning- Read the article silently and individually.- Use reading techniques highlighting the relevant information through the underlining technique

Development

10 min.

- SS identify vocabulary circling the unknown words to make a glossary - The teacher gives instructions to SS to make comprehension questions using FIVE technique. (1

factual / 1 inference / 1 vocabulary / 1 experience)- SS get into groups and start working FIVE questions related to the text- SS report the information and Teacher reinforces the answers

The teacher consolidates the topic by asking some comprehension questions How would life have been different if printing hadn’t been invented? In what ways do we communicate “in writing” today?

PRACTICE

STRATEGIES TO TRANSFER WHAT HAS BEEN LEARNED:

SS keep their groups and choose one invention from their books to make a report about the impact the invention had in history

Express their ideas clearly in a report about the impact the invention had in history SS present the repot to their classmates and the answers are socialized in class.

Notebook

Closing

EVALUATION

Strategies FOR PERMANENT EVALUATION.Hetero evaluation

Metacognition:

What are three things you liked from the class today? why?

What activities did you do to learn about the topic? Do you think this information is useful?

Extension

Look for other inventions that have changed people’s lives in today’s world
