Computing hardware
• CPU: Central processing unit - the portion of a computer system that executes the instructions of a computer program.
• Core: the portion of a CPU which actually performs arithmetic and logical operations. A CPU may have multiple cores (e.g. "a quad-core processor").
• Memory: devices that are used to store data or programs on a temporary or permanent basis for use in an electronic digital computer.
• RAM: Random-access memory - a form of computer data storage that allows data items to be accessed (read or written) quickly.
• Hard disk drive: a storage device that stores data on rapidly rotating rigid (i.e. hard) platters with magnetic surfaces even when the power is off
