    FR. ADRIANS CORNER

Our celebraons for All Saints and All Soulstook placelast week. I want to thank everyone who worked hardpung liturgies together for both occasions as well as forthe weekend which came close on the heels of All Souls.A special word of appreciaon and gratude to thosewho serve as volunteers in both Bereavement and Grief

Ministry at the parish. To Bey Muszynski, Pat Sheehanand their teams who do such wonderful work with greatsensivity and kindness. They are always looking for vol-unteers to help them. If you feel called to give someme to working with the bereaved, either helping to pre-pare for funerals or simply listening to people coming toterms with loss, please contact me at the parish and I willput you in touch with Bey or Pat.

Wendy Brophy will have informaon regarding theoverall cost of the Parish Pilgrimage to Romeand Assisi

in October 2014 by mid-November. The airlines cannotgive us the relevant informaon for next year unl then, hence the short wait for the overall cost. Brochures willbe made available by the end of November so that peo-ple can begin to sign up and get deposits in. If you areinterested in traveling next year you may email WendyBrophy at [email protected] or 858-756-4174x1702. Wendy is a member of our parish and works inthe travel/pilgrimage business. She is kindly organizingthis pilgrimage for the parish.

Preparaons for the General Assembly of the Small

Chrisan Communies at San Luis Rey are coming to-gether. Members of the planning team travelled to San-ta Barbara on last Thursday to meet with the facilitator,Fr. Michael Harvey, OFM. It was a fruiul meeng andthe agenda has been fixed. Each SCC will receive a packcontaining leers of invitaon for each member of thecommunity and an agenda for the Assembly itself. Facili-tators are asked to circulate these in each small commu-nity as soon as possible. Our keynote speaker for Friday,22 November is Fr. Ignacio Muro, OFM, Guardian at St.Francis Parish, Tijuana, Mexico. Fr. Ignacio is a former

Provincial of his Franciscan Province in Baja California, and was an Assistant to the Minister General of the Fran-ciscans in Rome for six years. He is completely bilingualand his presentaon will be entled: Passing on Francis-can values in the world today. We look forward to wel-coming all members of the SCCs and those who aresimply interested in knowing more about the SCC at theparish.

Finally, a big thank you to Fr. Luis and his team of ex-traordinary bread-makers for the Pan de Muerto lastSunday! They worked hard and stayed up late in theMission kitchen baking many loves. I learned a thing ortwo about rolling dough; that its not easy and takes a lotof skill and paence. The proceeds of the sale of the Pande Muerto will go to fund the trip by members of variousHispanic Ministries to the Religious Educaon Congress

    in Anaheim in 2014.

By now you know that I like to quote Pope Francis. Here are some words from a homily at Mass during theweek at the chapel in the Casa Santa Marta where helives:

A Chrisan is one who is invited. Invited to what? To ashop? To take a walk? The Lord wants to tell us some-

thing more: You are invited to join in the feast, to the joy

of being saved, to the joy of being redeemed, to the joy of

sharing life with Christ. This is a joy! You are called to a

party! A feast is a gathering of people who talk, laugh,

celebrate, are happy together. I have never seen anyone

party on their own. That would be boring, no? Opening

the bole of wine . . . Thats not a feast, its something

else. You have to party with others, with the family, with

friends, with those whove been invited, as I was invited.

Being Chrisan means belonging, belonging to this body,

to the people that have been invited to the feast: this is

    Chrisan belonging.

The Church is not the Church only for good people. Do

we want to describe who belongs to the Church, to thisfeast? The sinners. All of us sinners are invited. At this

point there is a community that has diverse gis: one has

the giof prophecy, another of ministry, of teaching. . .

We all have qualies and strengths. But each of us brings

to the feast a common gi. Each of us is called to parci-

pate fully in the feast. Chrisan existence cannot be un-

derstood without this parcipaon. I go to the feast, but

I dont go beyond the antechamber, because I want to be

only with the three or four people that Im familiar

with... You cant do this in the Church! You either

parcipate fully or you remain outside. You cant pickand choose: the Church is for everyone, beginning with

those Ive already menoned, the most marginalized.

    It is everyones Church!

May the Lord connue to bless each one of us in theweek ahead!

    Fr. Adrian

Invitado a qu? A

mentalmente normales, nunca he visto alguien que celebre

unafiesta solo, no?

Y all qu cosa se hace?

No puedes

    Padre Adrian.
