EMIRATES ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP

The Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) is a voluntary,Non Government Organization (NGO) devoted to

protecting the environment through the means of

education, action programs and community involvement.

It started in 1991 and has since grown in terms of its

programs and membership. The organization is open to

men and women of all nationalities. EEG is actively

encouraged and supported by concerned local and federalgovernment agencies. It is the first environmental NGO in

the world to be ISO 14001 certified and the only

organization of its kind in the UAE with accredited status

to the United Nations Convention to CombatingDesertification (UNCCD) and the United Nations

Environmental Programme (UNEP). EEG is

signatory of the UN Global Compact and a focal

point of the Global Compact in the GCC states. EEG is

also a member of the International Union of

Conservation for Nature (IUCN). EEG is composed of

students, individuals, corporate members, federal

and local government agencies, universities, colleges

and schools as well as reputed regional and international

institutions.

OBJECTIVE

To contribute positively to the advancement of

sustainable development in Dubai and UAE by

acting as a focal point for people of all

nationalities and ages concerned with

environmental protection and sound waste

management.

MONITORING OF FUNDS

Funds that are allocated to each of its units are

the responsibility of that unit. Although the

accounts and finance section of EEG mainly has

the final decision and also controls the funds

and its distribution. They are also mainly

responsible for its successful investments and

see to it that no losses are made.

ALLOCATION OF FUNDS

y Funds are generally allocated on the basis of the

y size of the events. Each unit is allocated funds

y based upon the management's decision. Each

y unit whether the education unit or the publicationy unit s allocated the amount which is required to

y carry on its activities all through the year.As it is

y a growing organization units are added and

y therefore fund allocation may differ from year to

y year or even event to event.

MY CONTRIBUTION AS AN INTERN

y

Sent letters/email/faxes to various schools who were toparticipate in the event for getting their approval for

participating in the event.

y Sent spell check letters to all participants of the event.

y Invite the judges for the events and communicate with the

teachers regarding any part of the event.

y Sent thank-you letters at the closure of the event.

y Make recyclable badges for use by the students, teachers, judges

and guests who were to attend the event.

y I was the timekeeper for both the days of the main event.

Kept track of the time duration of the speeches.y I also did summarization for the event and the different

topics of speeches given by the students participating in

the event.y Fed the feed back forms into the system.

y Sent invites to the EEG honorary members.

y Printed out the feed back forms.
