Dear Readers
The last quarter of Academic Year 2018-19 witnessed a flurry of events in the Campus. Just as the examinations were in progress alongside the general and assembly elections in the State, Super Cyclone ‘Fani’ hit Puri and the twin-cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack with severe intensity. The impact was so intense that life almost came to a standstill in the coastal belt. It seemed as if the Almighty wanted to test our strength. Despite the odds persisting for some time, it failed to suppress the human spirit.
The well-executed disaster management plans by the Government of Odisha under the leadership of Shri Naveen Pattanayak Hon’ble Chief Minister of the State gave a new lease of life to the people in the affected areas. At SSU, students, members of staff and faculty joined hands to perform ‘seva’ and exhibited an unparalleled spirit of unity in challenging times.
After a short hiatus, SSU resumed its journey of excellence with a new captain commandeering the flight - Prof. (Dr.) Ajay Kumar Singh joined us as the new Vice-Chancellor. With a renowned professor from Delhi School of Economics and an able administrator, we look forward to scaling new heights of success in coming days and become a trendsetter in the field of education around the globe.
The University reopened after the summer vacations with a unique four-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 19 – 22 June 2019 which was followed by one of its kind Strategic Meet 2019 held on 23-24 June 2019. Both these events saw our President, Ms. Rajita Kulkarni wearing different hats – an Advanced Meditation Teacher, a Trainer, a Transformational Leader and the President of this unique University. Having redefined our paths and goals through such a unique hand-holding experience, Team SSU is once again filled with loads of energy, zeal and enthusiasm to take our students on this journey of Learn, Lead and Serve.
Happy Reading!
