Was for 7 years in Victoria M.R., and was a foundation mem- ber of the N.M.R., when Sir G a r n e t Wolscley came to Natal on his first visit. Celebrated in business for the past 40 years for conscien- tious workmanship, dur- ing which time has won many medals and awards at various Exhibitions; often requisitioned as a judge. Has seen the town rise from sand on res and tin shanties to its present splendid streets and five -story buildings. Was presented, in March. 1!M)0. with anr illuminated address by the Methodist body of preachers, after .">0 years' service. Sons well known local athletes. Ap-p e a r e d for N a t a l against the Australians in 1902 ; and in a re­cent Currie Cup Tour­nament. He was for 4 years Capt. Greyville C.C. A devotee of the piscatorial art. Is an Australian by b i r t h , and his sister holds the record of having scored 2 centuries in a single match, in* New South Wales.
