MEIER SMARTMAP TOURS...MANHATTAN PROJECT B REACTOR MUSEUM FOR SPONSORS AND EXHIBITORS ONLY. LIMITED TO 100 PEOPLE ON A FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED BASIS

Bus tours depart from and return to the TRAC Center. Return times are approximate.

Tour #1—Departs: 8:30 a.m. / Returns: 12:00 p.m. Tour #2—Departs: 10:30 a.m. / Returns 2:00 p.m.

The B Reactor was the first production scale nuclear reactor ever built. Completed in 1944, it manufactured plutonium for the world’s first atomic bomb. After World War II it continued to produce plutonium for the Cold War and was the model on which later reactors were designed. It was permanently shut down in February, 1968.

The B Reactor is being considered as part of a new Manhattan Project Historical Park by the National Park Service. It has been administered by The United States Department of Energy (DOE) since 1977.

Each year DOE offers tours of the B Reactor. They ―sell out‖ for the entire summer in a matter of minutes. In 2009 some 5,000 individuals from 34 states toured the B Reactor.

PROSPERING IN TUMULTUOUS TIMES—Keynote Speaker: Christina C. Brown, President and

Chief Executive Officer, Gesa Credit Union

The Gesa Smartmap Expo 2010 is delighted to bring Christina C. Brown back as our Keynote Speaker. Her presentation ―Leading with Foresight and Certainty‖ at the 2009 Expo was the most well received Luncheon presentations in the history of the event.

Ms. Brown will pick up where she left off, presenting a series of inspiring business success stories. While presenting the struggles and triumphs of area businesses, this presentation will enable Smartmap participants to make a leap in understanding how an organization, business or community, can ignite to action in a changing economy.

Ms. Brown joined Gesa Credit Union in July of 2007 where her leadership and passion have become hallmarks of her tenure at the company. 9a-10a THE STATE OF MANUFACTURING IN WASHINGTON

TRAC Center, Meeting Room #2

PRESENTED BY IMPACT WASHINGTON, MUKILTEO, WA

Impact Washington is a non-profit organization that strengthens Washington manufacturers to make them more globally competitive. With their manufacturing experts and network of industry resources, they provide the change that makes the differences between surviving and thriving.

Manufacturing represents a large segment of the Washington State economy. The Washington State numbers for 2008 are impressive:

9.9% ($32 billion) of the state’s economy

78% of the state’s exports

7,505 manufacturing establishments

291,000 manufacturing employees earning an annual wage of $80,988 compared to the state average of

$61,393

Source: National Association of Manufacturers

That was 2008. What happened in 2009? What is happening in 2010? Impact Washington has the answers and will be presenting them at this seminar

9a-10a MAKING MONEY MACHINING—THE JOB SHOP’S GUIDE TO TODAY’S HIGH TECHNOLOGYMACHINE TOOLS TRAC Center, Meeting Room #3

PRESENTED BY JOHN B. GOES, VP OF OPERATIONS ELLISON TECHNOLOGIES NORTHWEST, KENT, WA

Ellison Technologies Northwest is the largest distributor of CNC Machine Tools in the Pacific Northwest, serving the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and British Columbia, Canada.

The past several years has seen an explosion of new technologies from the world’s machine tool builders. New advanced CNC controls and servo systems combined with startling new mechanisms have moved the industry into multi-axis integrated machines with amazing capabilities.

Manufacturers and machining companies have an astounding number of new technology machine tools and automation to choose between, and the task of selection can sometimes be intimidating. Many companies find it difficult to keep up with the fast pace of change in the industry, and are faced with customer demands for quicker delivery of higher quality goods in smaller quantities – while reducing skilled labor and product cost.

For companies needing ―breakthrough‖ changes to their operations, the challenge today is selecting the ―Right Tech‖ from the available ―High Tech‖. This presentation will not only review some of this technology, but more importantly take a look at why and how it can be deployed in the pursuit of leaner operations, improved quality, on time delivery, and of course – making money.

9a-10a EQUIPMENT LOANS TO OPERATING LINES—FINDING THE MISSING LINKS TO SUCCESS TRAC Center, Meeting Room #4

PRESENTED BY BEN RUTLEDGE, AVP OF BUSINESS LENDING GESA CREDIT UNION, RICHLAND, WA

This presentation will be on how to obtain equipment loans, expansion loans and operating lines. Ben is well equipped for such a presentation. Armed with a degree in Business Administration and Economics from Eastern Washington, Ben began his banking career with Security Pacific Bank in 1990. Through a series of events, Ben moved to Key Bank where he became a commercial lender and later, a Small Business Relationship Manager. He also spent time with Sterling Savings Bank, Columbia Trust Bank and American West Bank prior to joining Gesa. During his nearly 20 years in the industry, Ben has gained expertise in many areas including SBA loans, agricultural operating loans and C & I loans to mid-sized companies. Learn how to get the money you need to grow your business!

TRAC Center, Meeting Room #2

PRESENTED BY JOHN PAQUETTE, PRODUCTIVITY ENGINEER SANDVIK COROMANT COMPANY, SPOKANE, WA

John grew up running a CNC machine at his father’s business in Santa Rosa, California. Over the last fourteen years he has been a machinist at Penton Machine, Moscow, Idaho and held supervisor positions at Altek, Inc., Liberty Lake, Washington and Paquette Manufacturing, Cashmere, Washington before joining Sandvik Coromant Company. John’s presentation will focus on understanding and applying advanced machining practices to maximize your company’s productivity and profitability.

PRESENTED BY JESSI NOKES, LEARNING SOLUTIONS VIVID LEARNING SYSTEMS, PASCO, WA

Jessi represents the Learning Solutions discipline within Vivid Learning Systems, a leading provider of online training solutions. Jessi works with new learning technologies every day and assists with the development of a variety of different online learning programs. She holds a Bachelor of Arts with a minor in Communications from Portland State University.

Jessi will explain how your company can prepare for a changing workforce, workplace and economic environment. From baby boomers to millennials, classroom training to learning on the web, and elaborate training budgets to budget cuts; today’s businesses are faced with a unique set of issues and opportunities. This presentation provides an insight into some of the companies that have developed and deployed innovative training programs to not only make them competitive today, but leaders tomorrow.

10a-11a THE EVOLVING MANUFACTURING LANDSCAPE TRAC Center, Meeting Room #4

PRESENTED BY BILL HERMAN, DIRECTOR OF EVENTS AMTDA, ROCKVILLE, MD

Bill Herman travels the country every week meeting with distributors and builders of machine tools and ancillary products, as well as the finance companies that facilitate the acquisition of those products. The affect of his travels is a constant ear to the ground for emerging trends in the market and an awareness of the challenges that businesses of all sizes are facing from forces internal and external.

Manufacturing in America isn’t dead. It’s changed. While as a country we need to recommit to making more things in the United States again, we also need to make sure we are taking full advantage of existing and emerging market segments within the U.S. Aerospace, medical, wind energy and heavy equipment are all seeing up ticks in spending and orders. How has the landscape changed? How do I get noticed in a downsized customer base? How do I recruit and relate to a workforce younger than me – and much different from the Silent’s, the Boomer’s and the GenX-er’s that proceeded them? Join Bill Herman and get answers to those and other challenging questions facing today’s manufacturers.
