THIS WEEKThe Nevada swimming and diving team will participate in its first invitational of the 2017-18 campaign when the team’s swimmers travel to Fresno, Calif. to compete in the Chick-fil-A Invitational Oct. 6-7. This weekend, the Wolf Pack will be going up against three Mountain West opponents in host-Fresno State, San José State and San Diego State, as well as California, who Nevada will face in a dual meet later in the season.

LAST TIME OUTThe Wolf Pack began its year with a season-opening victory at the Nevada Relays, where the team won in dominating fashion over SDSU and UC Davis. Collectively, Nevada won a total of nine events at the relays, falling just one event short of completing a sweep of the entire competition. The Pack saw contributions from both its veteran leaders and its core of young and talented swimmers as well.

A TOUGH SCHEDULE AHEADWith aspirations of being a top program, many of Nevada’s competitions involve multiple Pac-12 opponents, including California who finished last season as the national runner-up. The Pack’s schedule this year also features matchups with the two teams that finished above Nevada at the 2017 MW Championships in San Diego State and Boise State, both of whom will come to Reno this season. In its first competition of the year, the Pack finished on top of the Aztecs at the Nevada relays and will see SDSU again this weekend at the Chick-fil-A Invitational.

INTERNATIONAL LOVEWith only six people on its roster from the United States, Nevada’s unparalleled characteristic of having swimmers and divers from all over the globe has created a cultural diversity that is one of the most unique in all of college sports. Excluding Antarctica, the Pack has at least one student-athlete from every continent in the world, on its current roster.

CONSISTENT COACHINGNevada head coach Brendon Bray enters his second season at the helm of the program, after helping lead the Pack to a 6-1 dual meet record from a year ago. In his four seasons as a head coach at the Division I level, Bray now holds a lifetime record of 19-17 (.514). Alongside Bray is Nevada diving coach Jian Li You, who is in her 22nd season with the Wolf Pack. During her tenure in Reno, You has established Nevada as one of the premier diving schools in the region, having won the past five MW Diving Coach of the Years honors.

WELCOME TO THE PACKNevada welcomes seven newcomers to the roster for the 2017-18 season. The Wolf Pack’s ranks will be bolstered by six true freshman in Donna dePolo, Olivia Dockery, Alexandra Hartman, Caitlyn McHugh, Isabella Sangraw and Lauren Stigler. The Pack also welcomes a sophomore in Diana Sokolowska, who transfered from a school in Gdansk, Poland.
