Grants for Small Charitable Organisations Working in Disadvantaged Neighbourhoods (North East of England)

The Greggs Foundation has announced that the North East Core Funding programme has re-opened for applications. The North East Core Funding programme makes grants to charitable organisations based in the North East of England who make a difference to people in need especially those who are disadvantaged and excluded.

The programme aims to help charities in the North East of England to thrive and to make a lasting difference by making grants that increase the capacity of the organisation to provide quality services. Around £600,000 per year is donated to charities in the North East through this programme.

Grants can cover the core revenue costs of organisations working in disadvantaged neighbourhoods, for example, running costs (bills etc), and core salaries (managers or administrators rather than project workers or sessional staff).

The Foundation prefers to support existing work with a proven track record that targets the following priority groups:

People with disabilities Homeless people Voluntary carers Older and isolated people.

Grants of up to £15,000 per year are available for a maximum of three years.

Organisations interested in applying are advised to contact the grants manager before submitting an application. The closing date for applications is the 10th March 2020.

Grants for Schools and Young People’s Projects (Southwark)19

Page 20: New Funding Opportunities1 - grantsonline.org.uk€¦  · Web viewNew Funding Opportunities . Armed Forces Day Funding (UK) Grants of up to £5,000 are available for events that

Schools and organisations working with schools and colleges in the London Borough of Southwark have until the 7th February 2020 to apply for a grant from the Newcomen Collet Foundation.

Priority is given to:

Assisting schools and other groups to purchase equipment for the benefit of children; Supporting extra curricula activities (e.g. school trips, after school clubs, holiday clubs,

uniformed organisations) for children and young people; Assisting organisations which provide educational opportunities to schools and colleges in the

Borough of Southwark (e.g. visiting theatre companies and musicians). It is unlikely that they will provide 100% of funding so applicants should also have additional funding options in place.

The Foundation will usually visit organisations to ensure that the scheme is viable. However, with only £100,000 a year to give in grants, it is unlikely that the Foundation will ever fully support a project, and involvement of other grant-giving bodies is usually needed.

£1 Million Available to Help Rough Sleepers this Winter (England)

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government are providing up to £1 million of the Cold Weather Fund to Homeless link to administer funding to charitable organisations that are not commissioned by local authorities. The project’s overall aim is to financially support local providers in helping people sleeping rough off the streets this winter.

Grants of up to £25,000 are available to frontline organisations who are working to help end rough sleeping, who can demonstrate how grant funding will reduce rough sleeping and offer longer-term solutions from people sleeping rough accessing these shelters, by supporting moves into accommodation, and sustainable longer-term accommodation for those moving off the streets. Applicants much be registered charities/CIOs.

Proposals must demonstrate how they will help end rough sleeping.

Grants must be for one or both of two purposes:

1. To provide additional accommodation to rough sleepers during the period 1st December 2019 to 31st March 2020. By additional we mean additional to what is already being commissioned by the local authority. This can be either shelter beds or other accommodation.

2. To enhance the support provided in or complementary to existing commissioned shelter beds to reduce the level of returns to the street for people sleeping rough accommodated in shelters and to help secure long-term move-on from shelters.

As part of this latter strand Homeless Link will consider applications for training and workforce development or provision for Day Centres to extend provision to integrate services with local shelters, personalised budgets for people sleeping rough or similar activities that enhance the quality of support provided in shelters or the chances of achieving good move on outcomes from shelters.

Bids should seek to offer longer-term solutions for people sleeping rough accessing shelters, by supporting moves into accommodation, and sustainable longer-term accommodation for those moving off the streets.

Bids will be strongly prioritised if they seek to provide support for specific groups such as vulnerable women, LGBT, couples, or pet owners.

Larger grants up to £50,000 may be considered for projects working across multiple authorities.

The closing date for applications is the 6th December 2019.
