01 MMAG. / EVENTS DINE & WINE AT THE CENTARA GRAND BEACH RESORT. In March of this year, the Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villa’s Hua Hin held their 2nd exclusive Dine & Wine evening, this was held in conjunction with Siam Winery. It was to be a lavish 5 course dinner, consisting of Thai food and combining various wines. I was intrigued to know what wine would be available and what combination would best complement the choice of Thai food being prepared and served, which are mainly hot & spicy dishes, as well as the after dinner desserts. The evening commenced and we were warmly welcomed at the Salathai Restaurant, which is located within the Centara Resort. A welcome drink of fresh grape juice was served in an Elephant- style glass to us, as we entered the staff then directed us to our table. The dining area was formed around the free-form swimming pool giving it a delightful setting to enjoy our evening. The evening got underway with Wine experts being introduced to us from the Siam Winery. During the evening they were always readily available to answer any questions and to give some much needed informative advice and knowledge on the various wines being served. While enjoying the food and wine, authentic Thai music was being played which created a lovely atmosphere. THE MENU. Roasted Medallion of Phuket Lobster served with Monsoon Valley Sparkling Blanc de Blanc’s. A Seafood Salad served with Monsoon Valley Colombard Deep Fried Fish Mousse served with Monsoon Valley White Shiraz Lamb Massaman Curry served with Monsoon Valley Shiraz Traditional Sticky Rice & Fresh Mango served with Monsoon Valley (late harvest) Chenin Blance The combination of food and the accompanying wines were well selected and totally complemented the each other. The care taken over each course was clear to see, as was the taste with all the fresh ingredients used in the cooking. The dishes were of full flavour and not over spicy, which can be over-powering to taste for the European palate, yet managed to still be characteristically Thai. The dessert of Rice & Mango with its selected wine was simply amazing and completed the menu perfectly. During the course of the evening, entertainment was performed by a traditional Thai music band and dancers, which gave that finishing touch to a wonderful Exclusive Thai Dinner. Thank you Centara Beach Resort & Villas and Siam Winery for organizing this amazing night, I now know that a combination of Thai food and Thai wine is readily available here and to a very high standard. Was uns empfing war eine gediegenen Atmosfähre rund um den Swimmingpool der Centara villas. das Essen war sehr gut, sehr schön präsentiert sowie perfekte Portionen. (Nicht zu Gross) Die passenden Weine zu jedem Gang ambivalent. Uns schmeckte der weisse Shiraz am besten, der sich wie ein Rose präsentiert. das Ganze war begleitet mit dezenter Thai Livemusik und grazilen Thai Tänzerinnen. Dem Service gehört ein spezielles danke schön, wurden wir doch sehr verwöhnt. Alles in allem fühlten wir uns als willkommene Gäste da hat sich jemand etwas sehr gutes einfallen lassen, speziell mit diesem Preis/Leistungs Verhältnis. wir werden diesen Abend und die Moonsoon-Winery in guter Erinnerung behalten. ART OF SALTThefirst‘’ArtofSaltFair’’washeldfromMarch15th-17th this year between Kilometre Posts 25 and 41 of Rural Development Highway No.2021 (scenic route) in Phetchaburi’s Ban Laem district, about 12 km. north of Cha-am. Visitors had an opportunity to see sculptures made of salt, visit Ban Laem Salt Museum and shop for products and food from all over the district. The highlight of the event was a beautiful sculpture of “Bryde’s” whale that was created by a team of student’s from Rajabhat University, Phetchaburi. The event was aimed at creating educational activities based on travel experiences on the‘’SaltRoad’’andpromotingtravelalongtheKlongKhone/Bang Taboon/Ban Laem/Hat Chao/Cha-am highway.

BEACH POLOThe 4th annual “Asian Beach Polo Championship” was held on April 20th this year, at the beachfront of the Inter Continental Hua Hin Resort, where international polo players were competing for a trophy which would be presented by HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha. There were four Asian polo teams in the tournament coming from India, Hong Kong, Macau and host Thai team. The highlight of the tournament was thefinalofthecompetitionbetweenThailandandMacau,with the host Thai team beating Macau 4-0 and winning the tournament. The tournament was also set to raise funds for the Kamlangjai Project, initiated by the Princess to provide support to help rehabilitate female prisoners after their release.

VISAKHA BUCHA DAYVISAKHA BUCHA (Vesak) means the worshiping of the Buddha on the full moon day of the sixth lunar month, which falls on 24th May this year. It is one of the most important days in Buddhism because of three important incidents in the life of Buddha. The Birth. Each year, Buddhists throughout the world gather together to worship and to recollect the wisdom, purity and compassion of the Buddha. When Visakha Bucha Day comes around each year, Buddhists all over the world celebrate this great day in commemorating his great loving, kindness and compassion to the world. Here are some aspects of the activities that are observed. The offering of foods to the monks and their novices.Listening to the Dhamma preaching, observing the Five Precepts or the Eight Precepts {depending on which ones they observe}. Practicing of Meditation.Attending the Candle Light Procession around the Buddha’s Shrines etc.
