If you are happy and willing to lend any spiritual books that you have found helpful, please bring them to St. Joseph's Hall - there are instructions on the tables showing how to sign them in & out. They do not need to be deep theological ones! For those who like a 'lighter read', novels and biographies etc. can help us to deepen or understand our Faith in some way. The challenge to read for at least 15 minutes a day is for everyone - younger readers, do bring in your books to share with others, too! Help needed Can you spare an hour or two next Tuesday 11 th or Thursday 13 th to help the music group with sorting music? No experience necessary! Nineteenth Sunday - 8th/9th &The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

- 15th/16th August 2015Our Summer Spiritual Book-share has started. If you are happy and willing to lend any spiritual books that you have found helpful, please bring them to St. Joseph's Hall - there are instructions on the tables showing how to sign them in & out.  They do not need to be deep theological ones! For those who like a 'lighter read', novels and biographies etc. can help us to deepen or understand our Faith in some way. The challenge to read for at least 15

ANNUAL PARISH DAY Sunday 13th September commencing with Mass at 11.00am.

The Masses on this weekend will be 6pm Saturday, 8am and 11am Sunday (NO 10am or 6pm Masses on Sunday).

PLEASE SUPPORT THIS PARISH FAMILY EVENT. Raffle prizes are needed. There will be boxes in the church porch for Raffle donations and items for the Bottle stall.

Offers of help for the event would be gratefully received. Help is needed setting up on the day, running the stalls and clearing away

afterwards. Please contact Kath Greenwood (01689 877043 or Sr. Esther 01689 832999).

If anyone is willing to make cakes for the cake stall it would be much appreciated. Please remember that cakes need to be nut free as the school is a nut free zone.

Rite of the Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) – Journey in Faith (JIF) Would you like to know more about Jesus? Would you like to join us as we explore our Christian faith? Journey in Faith (JIF) sessions for adults who are not members of the Catholic Church (or who have not made their First Holy Communion or been confirmed) will start in October. Please let Father Victor know if you might be interested.

August.Welcome to Fr. Joy Ashok who will be looking after the parish whilst Fr. Victor is away.

Coffee Morning this Sunday will be hosted by CWL; NEXT weekend will be hosted by James & Liz Mullett.

Baptism Welcome to Sophia Autumn Cossin who was received into the church through the Sacrament of Baptism recently. We share in the joy of her family.

Next Sunday is the Feast of the Assumption If you are free, please come and join us in Church at 3.30pm to sing together some of our lovely Marian Hymns (including your favourites). This will be followed by Afternoon Tea in St Joseph's Hall, finishing at 5.30pm in time for the evening Mass. All voices welcome  

Thursday 20th August If you have nothing planned on this day, come and join us for our "Games & Picnic" event - everyone of ALL AGES welcome. Bring your favourite board/card

games & a picnic lunch any time between 11am and 2pm to St Joseph’s Hall and/or the parish garden depending on the weather.

Parish walkers will meet at Downe on the green opposite the pub at 2pm on Sunday 9th August for a 3 mile walk lead by Val Yeates (01689 857495). Everyone most welcome.

The Deanery team from Our Lady of the Crays have organised a Football tournament which will take place on Sunday 9th August at 1pm at St Philamena’s primary school in Orpington.   All young people from Bromley deanery are invited to attend; the address is Chelsfield Rd, Orpington BR5 4DR. 

Do not forget to contact your MP about Assisted Dying Bill, due to be debated on Friday 11th September. The debate and vote on a Bill to legalise assisted suicide will put the most vulnerable people in our society at risk.  Please contact your MP, urging them to attend the debate and vote against the Bill. You can send an e-mail to your MP via the Catholic Bishops’ Conference website (www.catholicnews.org.uk/assisted-suicide) or send a letter by post, a draft of which can be found at the back of the Church, along with a Q & A on Assisted Suicide.

Blessed Oscar Romero A National Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the life, martyrdom and beatification of Oscar Romero is to be held on Saturday August 15th at 12.30 pm in Metropolitan Cathedral Church of St George.  The celebrant will be Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor and the preacher will be Bishop John Rawsthorne - please see the poster on the noticeboard.

Bromley Borough Foodbank A box for food donations is positioned in the porch and a list of items required is on the top of the box. At present there is a particular need for tinned potatoes, tinned tomatoes and tinned rice pudding.
