Meeting Minutes

Thursday May 4, 2017

Novi Public Library

Committee Chair Dustin Brown called the meeting to order at 10:07 a.m. Approval of Agenda. The agenda for the meeting was approved. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the February, 2 2017 meeting were approved. Download Destination: 1) Budget Review: Chair Dustin Brown said that Proposal #2, a 20% increase in content costs spread

over 3 years, for the increase to the Download Destination budget was approved by members by a 3:1 ratio. The new content fees will begin August 1, 2017. Renee Holden reviewed the budget. There is $45,000 left to spend before the end of July. The holds manager still takes up 50% of the overall budget. TLN will also be making a donation for new content to Download Destination. This is a separate budget for adult content which will help bring new content to the catalog as well as buying additional copies of the most popular titles. a) The fixed check-out policy is being reviewed. Titles with more than 80-100 holds have a

shortened load period. Titles with below 30 holds go back to a 3 week loan period. 2) New Overdrive Advantage Plus. Overdrive Advantage Plus allows Advantage libraries to donate

materials to the consortium collection. The Policy Committee is currently looking at the new Advantage program. Issues include impact on the holds manager and metered content.

3) Other Download Destination Business. The Bookmobile is available again for a visit. Some members of the committee are attending the upcoming Digipalooza conference. Overdrive is rolling out a new app called Libby. If you have questions before the Digipalooza conference, pass them on to the Policy Committee. No update about the support links on the website. Jim Flury has regularly scheduled calls with Overdrive. A question if we can just add the support gmail email link to the Download Destination page, but the gmail address is not used by all libraries.

Zinio:

1) The new RBDigital app is not ready. Webinars are available though. Committee members say the app is nice looking. Zinio will prompt users to download the new app. Patron history should transfer over to the new app. Marketing materials are forthcoming. Patrons cannot create an account from the app, but must do it from the Zinio for Libraries website.

2) Jim Flury stated that the latest date for the new Zinio app was June 14. The date has been delayed multiple times however. 21 new libraries will go live with TLN Zinio.

Odilo:

1) Odilo titles are being transferred to Download Destination. 2) Service will be terminated May 31, 2017
