Christmas Craft Club

After watching too many episodes of The Apprentice, Miss Page decided to start her own moneymaking venture and ‘The Christmas Craft Club’ began. The children made cards, painted jars for tea-lights and loads of Christmas decorations which were sold at the Christmas fair. The children had a vote and decided that they would like to donate the money raised to CAFOD. So far, £170 has been donated, but there are still lots of cards and decorations left if anyone is interested in helping to raise a bit more money for a very good cause. By Miss Page

Year 6 Advent Service This was a very special and beautiful celebration that took place in Nazareth House. The chapel inspired us to have a really amazing worship. We sung our hearts out and the readings and prayers will stay in our hearts, just like Jesus and God. We will never forget this day. We definitely touched the hearts of our parents and I know for sure there were a few tears of pride and joy. By Olivia De Cabra 6G

Cartooning Club In this club Mr Horton teaches the students how to draw cartoons. We've had lots of fun and amazing projects like; designing a superhero comic book cover and Care Bears (which was my favourite). Many pupils are looking forward to continuing this club next term. By Ricardo Da Silva, Class 6G

Year 1 Visit to the Museum of Childhood

Year 1 went on a trip to the V&A Museum of Childhood on Wednesday 7th December.

We learnt all about toys from the past and were given the chance to put them on a timeline. We looked at toys from our grandparents time, our parents time and our time. We also got a chance to look around the museum and explore all the different toys. Our favourites were the dolls houses and the board games. By Miss Watson

Choir trip to Nazareth House The now fifty-strong choir went to Nazareth House on St Andrew's Day and performed a variety of songs for the residents there. Alongside some traditional Scottish favourites like the ‘Skye Boat Song’ and ‘Maire's Wedding’, they sang ‘Amazing Grace’ and one of the songs they've been preparing for Christmas. Most of the choir are also performing at the Town Hall on Tuesday 13th December alongside choirs from other schools. There'll be a full orchestra accompanying. By Miss Page

Year 6 Visit to Sky Skills Studio On Tuesday November 15th and Thursday November 17th, Year 6 went to Sky Studios in Osterley, near Heathrow airport. We went to produce our own news report about Cyber-Bullying for anti-bullying week. When we arrived and entered the studio it felt like a dream. It was futuristic and multi-coloured! We were all very shocked and excited and were looking forward to our task. We split up into 4 groups. Each group had its own studio. First, we had to write the script together; we used an iPad. Then each of us took on a different role. Children who were being filmed went to the dressing room where there were all sorts of different costumes to wear. The roles that we could choose were: Reporter, Camera Operator, Director, Editor, Producer, Expert, and much more. Before coming we all also spent time researching the topic of Cyber-Bullying and we had our notes with us to help. We also saw the studios where they actually film things that we see on the television which was so interesting. It was an extraordinary experience! We would love to do it all again! It would be a great experience for someone who wants to work in television when they are older.

Skiing

At the start of November, we started skiing on an indoor ski slope and for the past eight weeks we’ve been going every Tuesday. We have progressed a lot since our first week when some of us had never even touched a pair of skis before! Last week we even skied backwards, facing up the slope! The slope is like a wet moving carpet. The instructor can change its steepness and speed using a control box which also allows them to set when the slope will start and stop! Three children ski on the slope at a time. There is a bar at the front which you can hold onto if you are unsteady, and a giant mirror so that you can watch yourself and make sure you are skiing in the right position at the right time. Altogether 41 children are taking part. We definitely recommend it to everyone. It is a great way to keep fit and have fun at the same time, and become a pro skier! Year 5 Christmas Maths Project Last Friday, we made Christmas trees and Christmas boxes. For our ‘maths doing project’. We made our trees out of Rice Crispies and we had a Rolo at the bottom. We decorated them with sweets that we had brought in from home. We used icing to stick them on. When we made our Christmas box, we had to make the base and sides first. We then put tabs on them to stick them together. After that we made a lid and finally decorated them. By Aine Moroney, Class 5G

Years 4 & 5 Christmas Carol Service Last Wednesday, Years 4 and 5 led a Carol Service in Holy Trinity Church. We stood proudly in the pews and sang traditional carols to tell the Christmas Story. We also had some readings and also some solos. This was a lovely experience and all the parents loved it.

Some parents said it was amazing and the sound was brilliant. They also said we were outstanding and the sound was great.

Prickly Hay

Last week, the children took part in a wonderful performance of 'Prickly Hay'. Everyone worked incredibly hard to ensure the words, songs, acting and costumes were ready for the big day. The children's enthusiasm and confi-dence shone through and they delivered the story of the Nativity beautifully. A particular highlight for many of the children was when Sam swapped the prickly hay in the manger for soft hay to make sure baby Jesus was comfort-able. By Miss Watson

In our Christmas show, we had some beautiful angels and there was a stable boy. There was also a mouse who was the friend of the stable boy. There were also three kings and they did a dance. We were so happy in our show. Our favourite part was when we sang all the songs!'
