NFT: A non-fungible token is a unit of data stored on a digital ledger, called a blockchain, that certifies a digital asset to be unique and therefore not interchangeable. NFTs can be used to represent digital ownership associated with photos, videos, audio, and other types of digital files. When a collector buys an NFT, they receive the ownership certificate of that digital asset and are able to unlock files that deliver better resolution or different mediums of the collected artwork.

GAS FEE: Gas fees are payments made by users to process and validate transactions on the blockchain. These fees are collected by the network operators, also called miners or validators, as a reward for their work.

MINTING: Minting an NFT is how your digital art becomes a part of the Ethereum blockchain - a public ledger that is unchangeable and tamper-proof. NFTs are tokens that get “minted” by the artist who registers a digital asset in a marketplace, setting up its details like name, description, price, as well as uploading the locked file that the collector will get by buying the NFT.

NFT: Um token não fungível é uma unidade de dados armazenada num ledger digital, chamado de blockchain, que certifica que um bem digital é único e, portanto, não permutável. Os NFT podem ser utilizados para representar a propriedade digital associada a fotografias, vídeos, áudio, e outros tipos de ficheiros digitais. Quando um colecionador compra um NFT, recebe o certificado de propriedade desse bem digital e desbloqueia ficheiros que proporcionam uma melhor resolução ou meios de visualização diferentes da obra de arte colecionada.

GAS FEE: As taxas de gás são pagamentos efectuados pelos utilizadores para processar e validar transações na blockchain. Estas taxas são colecionadas pelos operadores de rede, também chamados mineiros ou validadores, como recompensa pelo seu trabalho.

MINTING: ‘Mint’ um NFT é o processo de registar uma obra de arte digital na blockchain Ethereum - um ledger público imutável e à prova de manipulação. Os NFT são tokens que são “minted” pelo artista, que regista um bem digital num mercado online, estabelecendo os seus detalhes como nome, descrição, preço, bem como carregando o ficheiro bloqueado que o coleccionador obterá ao comprar o NFT.

Rare Effect desafia e explora a relação entre o espaço físico e o digital, criando uma ponte entre o Arroz Estúdios em Lisboa e o metaverso, aumentando em grande medida o alcance dos criativos locais e internacionais envolvidos no projecto.

Com este evento pretendemos mostrar e partilhar as possibilidades que a tecnologia traz ao mundo das artes. Desde meios de exposição inovadores, à utilização de tokenização/NFTs e carteiras criptográficas, os visitantes podem interagir com as instalações artísticas em exposição, bem como quebrar algumas das barreiras existentes entre o físico e o virtual.

Rare Effect é mais do que um simples evento. É a materialização do digital, uma sandbox para ideias e criatividade, um impulsionador para a experimentação. Idealizado, concebido e construído por uma comunidade mista de artistas, criadores e entusiastas de todo o mundo.

O festival procura sensibilizar para a atual ameaça que os criativos, associações e entidades culturais enfrentam, facilitando a venda de arte digital através de certificados de proveniência digitais, conhecidos como NFTs.

Rare Effect challenges and explores the relation between the physical and the digital spaces, creating a bridge between Arroz Estúdios in Lisbon and the metaverse, largely increasing the reach of the local and international creatives involved in the project.

With this event we intend to show and share the possibilities that are enabled in the arts world by technology. From innovative display mediums, to the use of tokenization /NFTs and crypto wallets, the visitors are able to interact with the art installations on display as well as break some of the existing barriers between the physical and the virtual.

Rare Effect is more than just an event. It’s the materialization of the digital, a sandbox for ideas and creativity, an impulsor for experimentation. Idealised, designed and built by a mixed community from all over the world, of artists, developers and enthusiasts.

The festival seeks to raise awareness of the current existential threat facing grassroots cultural associations & DIY music venues by facilitating the sale of digital art through tokenized digital certificates of provenance, commonly known as NFTs.
