This month we’re showcasing three NHPTV-produced programs that are iconic New Hampshire! First, there’s the premiere of our newest series, Our Hometown. What better New Hampshire community is there than “Our Town” Peterborough to launch this exciting new series? It has fascinating stories of and by the people who have made Peterborough a special place to live and work, told by those individuals. While we couldn’t include in the program all 40 stories we recorded, those from everyone we interviewed will be online at nhptv.org/hometown. Also debuting this month is the 10th anniversary Windows to the Wild special, with our favorite stories (including behind-the-scenes tales!) of Will’s outdoor adventures over the decade. Our 31st season of Granite State Challenge is underway, and it’s proving to be another exciting competition of high school students with smarts. And don’t forget, entries to our NHPTV-PBS KIDS Writers Contest are due March 31st! We’re able to present these great programs showcasing the Granite State because of your support. Thank you. Peter Frid, NHPTV President & CEO A Local Showcase Poetic tales, animal tales, tall tales, family tales, magic tales, nature tales – any kind of illustrated tale can be entered in the NHPTV-PBS KIDS Writers Contest! This season, Trixie receives a proposal from Tom, the handsome young curate, but tempers fray when she gets carried away with the engagement party and planning. In contrast, nurse Cynthia is seriously considering joining the order as a nun. And Chummy takes on the challenge of running a mother and baby home for unmarried girls. There are also two new nurses on the Nonnatus House team. Independent Lens: Little White Lie

Filmmaker Lacey Schwartz grew up in an upper-middle-class home with loving parents and a strong sense of her Jewish identity — despite occasional remarks from those around her about how a white girl could

have such dark skin. Her family explained that her looks were inherited from her Sicilian grandfather, but her gut started to tell her something different. This is a moving look at family secrets and the healing power of truth.Monday March 23 • 10 PM on NHPTV PRIME

Masterpiece: Downton Abbey

Season 5 wraps up on a happy note as the Crawleys attend a shooting party hosted by Atticus’s family at a castle in Northumberland. While there, Thomas is

pushed to the edge, and Lady Mary shows interest in a handsome guest at the event.

The Crawleys return to Downton for a joyful Christmas holiday. Has Tom Branson decided if he’s going to America? And could a season finale be complete without a proposal or a wedding...or both?Sunday March 1 • 9 PM on NHPTV PRIME

NHPTV Is On-Air • Online • In Your Community

It all started with a desire to share the awe-inspiring outdoors of New Hampshire and New England with our viewers. When writer and adventurer Will Lange agreed to host the new series, we knew we would have something very special for you. This month, 10 years, many viewer accolades and awards later, you can enjoy our anniversary episode of Windows to the Wild!

Will revisits treks and locations, and reminisces about memorable guests – human and canine.

Videographer Steve Giordani and executive producer Phil Vaughn also tell their side of the story – from behind

the camera. By donating to NHPTV during the show, you’ll become a member and will receive an exclusive Windows to the Wild book of Will Lange’s “A Yankee Notebook” columns, a DVD compilation of his favorite episodes, and a trademark orange hiking bandanna!

March 4 • 7:30 PM on NHPTV PRIMEIn celebration of the 10th season and Will’s 80th

birthday, NHPTV is hosting a screening and a hike at the AMC Highland Center May 30-31. For more information and tickets, got to nhtpv.org/events.

Caring To Remember Community Conversations

We may joke about senior moments and forgetfulness, but true memory loss is a serious concern and often a sign of a larger medical issue.

To learn more about this subject from experts and to explore resources, New Hampshire Public Television and AARP New Hampshire invite you to join a Caring to Remember Community Conversation.

Each event includes a screening of the program Changing Aging in the Granite State: Memory Loss. Afterwards, medical professionals and a caretaker will discuss ways to maintain memory and how to care for families members suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s. Join us at one of these free events:

• March 18 at 6:30 PM, Historical Society of Cheshire County, Keene

• April 14 at 6:30 PM, Portsmouth Public Library, Portsmouth

The NHPTV - AARP New Hampshire Changing Aging in the Granite State series covers key issues facing Granite Staters as we age: career changes, financial security, health care planning for the long term, consumer and investment fraud, and living well.

Hosted by Allison McNair, Changing Aging in the Granite State focuses on these topics with personal stories, expert perspectives and engaging discussions. All programs are available online at nhptv.org/aging.
