Well Christmas is upon us!! Did anyone see that sneaking up on us? I feel like I just put the tree away and here we are again heading rapidly towards the 2011 festive season and end of year.

We are all looking forward to a very busy next month with more renovation stages being completed, some great live shows and more free kid’s events. Our new outdoor dining area is now open and it is great to see it being enjoyed by our patrons.

Time does fly but how exciting is this - it’s Christmas Time! And Christmas at Norths is always something to be excited about. The decorations are going up throughout the club and we are all getting very festive and excited. The two Christmas trees in the entrance will look spectacular and please remember that we have our annual ‘Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal’ under the tree as well so please during this time, spare a thought for those less fortunate and give generously to make someone’s Christmas extra special this year. Norths will be launching the appeal by donating $500 worth of toys.

So what else does Santa have in his sack for you at Norths this year?Well Christmas would not be Christmas if we didn’t have our traditional members Christmas hamper giveaways and our ‘Santa’s Stash of Cash’ promotion will give you heaps of chances to win fantastic cash prizes. You will have the chance to win $1000 every Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the draw days in November and December! How good is that! And at the end of this promotion we all know we hit Christmas Eve so make sure you also book now to join us here at Norths for our Christmas Eve dinner. Our traditional two course Christmas fare is only $25 per person and $12 for children so bring the whole family along.

Heading into New Year, we have the Beetles and Creedence Tribute Show and dinner in the auditorium. A great chance to see in 2012 in style by relaxing with some fantastic entertainment, great food and a great time. At just $80 per person can you think of a better way to see out the old and see in the new.

Thanks to everyone who made our Hundreds and Thousands promotion such a roaring success. We had a lot of fun being able to give away $2000 each week in September and October!

Make sure you check out our Facebook page and click on like so that you receive updates of what is on. There’s always something happening at Norths!

Pine Rivers banks and Financial institutions have stiff new competition in Aussie Home Loans QLD. Mortgage broker of the year Rochelle Hall is expanding on her already hugely successful business in purchasing the Aussie Strathpine Branch. It took the dynamic, customer centric broker just three months to see her store rank number one in Queensland and now Rochelle, who has also

been nominated as the Mortgage and Finance Association Australia National Mortgage Broker of the Year, says she’s here to give the competition a run for their money saving borrowers thousands. Peers describe Rochelle as “super dedicated to her work and her clients, and determined to make her mark in the industry.”Rochelle has spent several

Rochelle is dedicated to saving you money

years establishing strong relationships with all four major banks and over a dozen other well known lenders to ensure she is in a position to get her clients better results and a better deal on their home loan. Rochelle’s passion is in ‘better mortgage structure’ and this she says, “It’s an area where so many professionals aren’t putting enough emphasis. Get it wrong, and you can cost people money.”What sets this MFAA member and Aussie broker so far apart from many others? “I live for my work. Family aside, it’s the single most important thing in my life and I am very fortunate to have aligned myself with a strong industry leader like AUSSIE and so are my clients.” When asked if the tattoo of the Aussie Logo Rochelle proudly displays in a photo on her office wall is real she smiles and says “Indeed it is. Aussie is doing positive things for this industry and consumers. I can’t imagine myself anywhere else.” Those looking for a better deal on their mortgage should contact Rochelle’s personal assistant - Sha Anthonisz on 07 38899544 to arrange their free consultation.Rochelle Hall

With the renovations beginning in July, it’s hard to believe the time has passed so quickly. The Club would like to think that we’ve made the disruptions impact as little as possible during this time, for this we thank our staff who committed to making your experience as comfortable as possible. Our biggest thank you of course is reserved for our members and guests, your patronage over the time has been greatly appreciated, and we hope that you can join us in spreading the word, of how great the “all new” Norths Leagues & Services Club is.

Salvo’s Christmas Appeal at NorthsChristmas is a happy time for most but spare a thought for those families who won’t have the happiness and joy of opening presents this year. The Norths Salvation Army Christmas appeal has been running for several years in which time hundreds of toys have been donated for children who are disadvantaged. This year we hope our generous members will continue their tradition of giving to this worthwhile cause.Members and guests are invited to place toys under the Christmas tree in the foyer of the club. The tree will be up until the 15th December before the toys are collected by the Pine Rivers Salvation Army and distributed to disadvantaged children in the community.Your support this year will be most appreciated.

John Ribot from Queensland Clubs Management (QCM) and the General Managers of the venues operating under the QCM banner recognise that the key to a successful operation is the people. All venues have similar facilities and offerings – the stand out – the one thing that makes the customers come back - is good staff.Training, development and succession staffing are key elements of the Human Resources Program at Norths and across the Clubs in the QCM Group. Nicky Cowan, the Human Resources Manager, in conjunction with Clubs Training Australia, has developed a unique training program to foster and develop highly skilled Leaders of the future with a focus on the Hospitality Industry. The QCM Group of Clubs consists of the Norths Leagues & Services Club (Kallangur), the Norths Devils Leagues Club (Nundah), the Ipswich Jets Rugby League Football Club (Ipswich), the Queensland Lions Football Club (Richlands) and the Magpies Sporting Club (Mackay). On 13 October 2011 QCM launched a QCM Scholarship Program and a QCM Leadership Program. Staff from the QCM clubs were invited to apply for the training programs which will be fully funded by QCM and the various Clubs. The staff were required to complete an application process and attend a panel interview. The response was overwhelming and we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the successful applicants for the first intake and encourage everyone else to reapply again for the second intake which will open from June 2012. The QCM Scholarship Program will provide the successful attendees with a Diploma of Hospitality Management and the QCM Leadership Program will provide the successful attendees with an Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management with the option to seek credits towards a university qualification in Hospitality Management. John Ribot has been a driving force of support behind getting the QCM programs started. John recognises that people make the business and that programs like the QCM Scholarship and Leadership programs will ensure quality leaders of the future.Club Training Australia are well known in the

If you know anyone who has survived cancer you will understand that it’s worth celebrating. That’s why Relay for Life has grown to become one of Australia’s most important fundraising events.Judy Kennedy, an employee at Norths Leagues & Services Club attended this year’s ‘Relay for Life’ with her friends, her husband Scott and son Jackson. Here are Judy’s reflections on this very special event. “I attended the ‘Relay for Life’ this year. It is an outdoor fundraising event that brings people together to celebrate and remember the lives of those who battle cancer,” said Judy. The ‘Relay for Life’ events started back in 1999 and now the event is run in every state and territory and raises over $14 million per year for cancer research and support through the Cancer Council of Australia.Judy continued, “There are three parts to the event, first we celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, as survivors and carers do the first lap of honour. Then we ‘Remember’ which happens just on dusk. Candle tributes are placed around the track as we remember and hope. The third part is ‘Fight back’, this is a ceremony where you make a pledge to continue the fight against cancer in your own way,” said Judy. The event goes all day and then overnight.“We endured a hail storm; it was great to see that nobody was deterred from the event. Not much sleep was had, but it was a great night with events to keep spirits up all night.” Judy continued. “There was music, bands, and late

I was the leader of 1 of 8 ‘Bottoms Up’ teams (awareness of bowel cancer). We raised $14,676 (with donations still coming in) and together with other groups, the Pine Rivers Shire raised $36,882, which was a great effort!”
