Introduction
Hybrid Power Solution
A typical medium-sized indoor BTS site has an equipment power loading of 1.5-
2kW. However, the generator has to be sized to be able to carry this load, as well
as the battery charging current and the start-up and running current of an air-
conditioner.
Generators will have a longer lifetime as they will run just over a third of the time
compared to a 24/7 generator site. Also damage such as carbon build-up and
glazing that occurs at low loads will not happen. Hybrid systems thus also result in
CAPEX savings (fewer generator replacements).
