It is amazing how time has been flying by month after month. We’ve been busy planning some great partnerships within our community that will benefit your child’s early childhood education. I am excited to see the relationships between the residents and the children growing and to have some new faces coming to read to the children. October’s New Friends at KELC!

1. Ian – is a new friend on our toddler side

and is part-time.

Intergenerational News

The toddlers visiting with the residents this month during their Wednesday morning “grand friends” visits. We have

new residents in the Stephen’s Care Center and the children’s visits really brighten their day.

Preschoolers enjoyed visiting Shirley’s house! Shirley played her piano as the children sat on her couch and sang. It

was a great time and very impromptu which made the visit even better for everyone. ☺

Sadly, Arn will not be able to do woodworking anymore with the children. He has a weak immune system and was

advised not to be around the children and their many colds. We will miss his Tuesday and Thursday visits.

We have two new residents that have been visiting our classroom. Polly has been visiting Monday mornings and Dan

has been visiting Friday afternoons to read to the children.

We are working on recruiting more volunteers to help with swimming on Wednesday afternoons so we can resume

swimming in January.

Toddlers & Young 3’s News:

Preschool News:

The weather is a changing and the children are certainly enjoying it!

We have been talking about fall with the children and they have been eager to

share the changes they are seeing. Our trip to Apple Hill was great! The rain

didn’t hold back the fun and apple picking! The children had a blast on the

hayride, picking apples, playing, and seeing the animals. I think the rain made

it more fun for them!

We have a student teacher that has joined us in our classroom. Her

name is Jennifer and she will be here Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. She

will be with us until December. The children really enjoy her. The other day

they loved that she played the piano for them!

In October, we will be starting our trips with the ELI Program. Karen

and I are super excited. Our first trip is to the Cleveland Children’s Museum

on October 19. They have provided a newsletter for parents so look for that in

your child’s cubby. Something that I know parents will love about these once

a month trips is that they provide car seats!

In October we will also start our once a month trips to the library

again. We are sticking with the third Friday of each month, so October 21

will be our first trip for the season.

In October we will be switching from Tai Chi to Yoga on Tuesday

afternoons.

And details for a fall party and costume parade will be coming as we

get closer to Halloween! I can give you the date though, which is October

28th. So mark you calendars! October is shaping up to be a busy month!

Have a great month! Sara and Karen

September has come and gone so quickly! We’ve added new friends

to our class who have adjusted very well and incorporated more

“intentional” learning activities. Our trip to Apple Hill was a success.

Starting this month we will begin incorporating monthly trips to the

Oberlin Library.

We have been working on recognizing what letters are in your name by

working on what letter is at the beginning of each child’s name. Many of

our friends have also been working on potty training. Shapes and colors

have also been interesting to explore and see how many friends know their

shapes and colors. Our friends are not shy either to tell you what their

favorite colors are and where they are around the room.

During the month of October we will be learning about the changes

that take place during Fall, pumpkins, and Halloween. You are more than

welcome to visit our classroom anytime. There is so many concepts and

skills that are being learned it’s hard to fit it all in the small space we have

for our newsletter!

We hope to see you in our classroom! Jeni, Julie, and Robin
