Spring is coming with rain, green foliage and flowers. Our activities at church are
slowing down for the summer.
Mark the following dates of parish events on your calendars:
May 7 – Bingo (evening)
May 15 – Parish Board Meeting
May 20 (Sunday) – no Divine Liturgy at our parish – visit a sister parish
May 30 – Bingo (afternoon)
June 3 – Family Day Picnic (Potluck) – Everybody brings food for the fellowship
June 12 & 13 – Casino at the Century Hotel & Casino – please help the parish
members work the casino. We need the money to pay the expenses.
June 19 – Parish Board meeting
July 22 & 29 – no Divine Liturgies as Rev. Father Nicholas and Dobr. Jeannette are
packing to move to Winnipeg.
Membership: Please pay your membership fee as soon as possible. It is $150.00
per person for 2018.
Pictorial Directory – The directory has arrived and is being distributed. There are
people who need to pay to receive their directory.
Sunday Offerings:
If you are unable to attend church, please mail in your Sunday offerings once a
month or every two months. We require that money in order to survive. There
are a few members who do this faithfully. Thank you very much for your
thoughtfulness. It is greatly appreciated.
Church Cleaning:
During the last two weeks of July our church floors, windows and chandeliers will
be cleaned. Hopefully we do not have any interruptions.

Father’s Day Father’s Day in Canada will be celebrated Sunday, June 17, 2018. It is a day for
people to show appreciation for fathers and father figures. Father figures include
stepfathers, father-in-law, guardians (e.g. foster parents) and family friends.
Many people celebrate Father’s Day in a variety of ways to express love and
gratitude to fathers or father figures. Father’s Day activities include (but are not
limited to):
Participating in Father’s Day runs and other events in which the proceeds
go toward a charity
Buying presents such as neckties and other items of clothing, chocolates,
books or equipment for various hobbies
Giving handmade or purchased cards
Breakfasts, brunches, lunches or dinner at home or in a restaurant
Taking fathers or father figures out to the movies, the park, the zoo or
another place of interest
Those who live away from their fathers or father figures may make long-distance
phone calls, send an e-mail or online card or arrange for gifts to be delivered.
We encourage you all to forget about gift cards, leather wallets and greeting cards
that cost $ and spend time with your father instead. It’s free. Take a walk, Talk,
Reminisce. Tell him you love him, give him a hug. As years go by both of you will
fondly remember the great times you spent together on father’s days, long after
the gift card is forgotten.

“Sunday, July 15, 2018 is my last day of celebrating the Divine Liturgy and
sharing the Holy Chalice (Sacraments) with you. As I am writing this note, I am
emotional and saddened that I am leaving all of you. But I have to thank God for the
opportunity and all of those years He allowed me to serve HIM in His Holy Vineyard
and ALL of You at St. Michael’s Parish. I thank His Eminence Metropolitan Yurij and
His Grace Bishop Ilarion for allowing me to serve your Parish in Edmonton for the last
9 years. I have learned that it’s not WHAT you have in your life but, it is WHO you
have in your life that counts. We have shared many things together; grief, sorrow,
tribulations, confusion, bad times, good times, faith, hope and love, happiness and joy.
We have overcome many hurdles (obstacles) in our journey together. Leaving you, is
hard to say ‘goodbye’, but we have created many memories and these memories will
last a lifetime..... Friendships continue to grow, even over long distances! If I have
offended anyone in any way, I ask your forgiveness.
Dobrodiyka and I thank you for your patience, your understanding, your support, your

The snow is finally melting and the rabbits are turning brown so there is much hope that spring is here. In short time, the church grounds will be cleaned and groomed. Many thanks to those wonderful volunteers who are looking after the maintenance of the church, your efforts and your many hours of hard work are greatly appreciated.
We will be honoring our mothers on May 13th. Happy Mother’s Day greetings are being extended to all the mothers, grandmothers, and great grandmothers of our parish. Enjoy your day & may God Bless you with good health and happiness.
Mark your calendars, the men's society’s next bi-monthly meeting will be held on Monday, May 14th and Monday, June 4th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. I encourage all members to attend, everyone’s participation is important. Our next casino has been scheduled on Tuesday, JUNE 12TH and Wednesday, JUNE 13TH, 2018 at the Century Casino located at 13103 Fort Road. We are still needing to fill the following positions and would appreciate your help and commitment. Evenings: 2 Cashiers, 2 Chip Runners Nights: 2 Count Room individuals. Please see RON or call 780-497-8852. Family and friends are welcome to volunteer as well.
