Something To Think About Randy Gilchrist, Executive Director

Although it is almost December, there are opportunities for us to work together as the body of believers who make up San Jacinto Baptist Association. Don’t forget that the first weekend in December is the Valley Mission Trip weekend. December

6-8, Several from our churches will be going to Laredo to assist a brand new congregation, La Iglesia El Buen Samari-tano, in their efforts to develop relationships with individuals in their community. This is a great family opportunity to go and do missions together. In addition to the Laredo Mission Trip, we have an opportunity to provide Christmas at the International Boys Shelter. This is a facility managed by one of our Baptist entities that helps connect boys from other countries to family members throughout the united states. Help us help them to provide Christmas for each boy who will be there this Christmas. December is also a great time for fellowships. Churches, Sunday School classes, Small Groups, will be sharing togeth-er in fellowships and parties. The Association Open House will be December 12, from 10 am to 3 pm. I hope you will join us as we say thank you for another great year of serving together. And don’t forget to look at the many opportunities of celebration by the churches listed in this newsletter. When Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel and told that she would be the mother of the Christ child, her only question was, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?” The Angel answered that the Holy Spirit would come upon her and that the power of the Highest would overshadow her. He went on to tell Mary of the working of God already in progress with her cousin Elizabeth. Finally, He told her the bottom line, “With God nothing is impossible.” To this she said, “I am the Lord’s servant, let it happen to me as you have said”. It is great to know that those who have surrendered to the Lord and are trusting by faith, have the Holy Spirit of God in our life, and the power of God to make things happen according to His will. Not only that but He has a pattern of preparing the way for us in the completion of our calling. This Christmas let us be sensitive to the opportunities to tell our life’s story to those who want and need to hear.

For the Common Good Carey. D. Froelich, Associate Director for Church Enrichment ESV Psalm 33:13 The LORD looks down from heaven; he sees all the children of man; 14 from where he sits enthroned he looks out on all the inhabitants of the earth, 15 he who fashions the hearts of

them all and observes all their deeds. 16 The king is not saved by his great army; a warrior is not delivered by his great strength. 17 The war horse is a false hope for salvation, and by its great might it cannot rescue. 18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him, on those who hope in his steadfast love, 19 that he may deliver their soul from death and keep them alive in famine. 20 Our soul waits for the LORD; he is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. 22 Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us, even as we hope in you. The Advent Season is here! It is a time of anticipating the coming of the One Who is the Hope of the World. Traditions vary from church to church, but many congregations will use the four Sundays before Christmas to prepare for that day with an emphasis on the prophecies of Messiah’s arrival. They place an advent wreath in a prominent place in the worship center and read the words of God’s spokesmen who envisioned the Savior’s coming. Those readings are followed by words affirming Christ’s mission of Hope, Love, Joy, and Peace, which are represented by a candle in the wreath. A Christmas Eve service can focus on Jesus as the Light of the World. Worship leaders often voice a prayer, and the congregation sings a Christmas song that interprets the weekly theme. The simple service can provide a wonderful backdrop for the preaching and special music that help us all remember that our Lord must always be the focus of the entire season.

Thank you for the privilege you give me to serve San Jacinto Baptist Association. I am grateful for the opportunity of getting to know our pastors, church staffs, and members, and I pray that your Christmas season may be filled with the Joy of our Lord in all you do.

Prayer Coordinator Dr. B.L. Worsham

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)

A Christmas Prayer Jesus Christ--“Divinely anointed of God!” -- “Son of God!” -- "Co-equal with God!” (John 1:1-14)

Giver of eternal life. (John 17:2) Savior of Believers. (Ephesians 2:8-10) Creator and Judge of all life here and hereafter. (Isaiah 40:28) Rewarder of every believing soul. (Acts 13:39); we come with bended knee, and joyful

hearts to celebrate your Incarnation---Christmas!

This time of sacredness is set apart from all other days, to celebrate “the fullness of time” when you graced the earth in order to show us the way of salvation. We lift our hands, our souls, and our prayers to thank you: That you gave your life, so that whosoever will believe in you may live in eternity.

We pray that your Kingdom will come, and your will shall be done on earth as it is in heaven. We pray for the time when “peace on earth, good will to men” will be the first wish and act of every human. We pray that the holy spirit will enter the hearts of all leaders of all lands and wars and strife will cease.

We pray for forgiveness for ourselves, our families, our nation of America, and every lost soul. Lord we rejoice where you have said, “Surely I come quickly,” and in Jesus name we repeat -- Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” (Revelation 22:20

Holocaust Museum in Houston, Texas Senior Life Ministry Day Trip January 17, 2020 (Friday)

Trip cost $14 for museum & bus donation plus lunch at Cleburne's Cafeteria. The 28 passenger bus departs at 9:00 a.m. and return approximately 3:00 p.m. Call 281.422.3604 to register or register online: www.sanjacintobaptist.com

Visit the newly renovated museum. History: In 1981, Siegi Izakson, a Holocaust survivor and long-time Houston resident, had an epiphany. After attending an international gathering of Holocaust survivors in Israel, Izakson realized his peers were getting older, and as they passed away their stories and memo-ries of unchecked prejudice would go with them. He returned to Houston, convinced that the city needed a Holocaust education center and memorial that would preserve for future generations the memory of those who had perished and the stories of those who had survived. On March 3, 1996, just 13 years after Izakson first dreamed of the idea; Holocaust Museum Houston was officially opened for admission with Izakson proclaiming, “This means the Holocaust story will not go away.” from https://hmh.org/
