JOY OF GIVINGMY VISIT TO THE ORPHANAGE

On 17th November 2016, morning at10:00 a.m. we started our journeyfromschool. We went by the school bus to‘Belli Chukki’ an orphanage. It was quitea marvelous experience. On the way Isaw a lots of plants and a railwaycrossing line. We waited for a minuteand we started our journey again in ourschool bus. At the entrance to ‘BelliChukki’ there were three dogs. I amLiterally scared of it. We rushed insidethe orphanage to escape from the dogs. Isaw a small group of children aged 6 to12 years. We distributed biscuits, chocolates, toys and also played gameswith them. I understood that they arevery talented. I was unable tocommunicate with them because I didn’tknow their language kannada. We had agood-quality time there. Then finally, webid good-bye to them and moved out. Isaw the dog was concentrated on eatingsomething so, I slowly ran and came nearthe van and I felt relaxed. Then, I got intothe van and returned to school at 12:20p.m. It was lunch time. I always had afeeling that orphans are physicallydisabled and therefore are orphans,But I didn't find anyone that way. I alsounderstood that orphans are not reallyorphans in thought and action, they havetalents and like everyone can achieve orcan do something great in life. Being anorphan is not a crime.

FACILITATOR TRAININGON

BLOOM’S TAXONOMYBloom’s Taxonomy is a set of three hierarchical models used to classify educational learning objectives into levels of complexity and specificity. The first three levels are considered lower order questions and the final three levels are considered higher order. Each taxonomy level has a short description, a list of keywords that can be used to begin a question. To enhance this, Orchids-The International School had organized a training program at Orchids BTM Branch., for which 4 teachers accompanied by our Vice- Principal attended . On the same guidelines ‘Bloom’s Taxonomy’ was implemented in our branch On 15th October, which turned out to be a rejuvenating learning experience. Teacher’s felt the zeal to teach and cater to the higher order thinking. Activity time was fun and working in groups boosted their thoughts. Teachers had a chance to work on hands on learning experience through posters and charts for the topic chosen. It was found that they exhibited their talent in art and use of colours and no doubt the application of the learnt topic in a creative manner. Sharing experiences and thoughts was an interesting slot during the workshop.

TRAINING PROGRAMME ON ‘STARTERS’The term “STARTERS” is an innovative concept to me and my collegues. Having this

workshop enlightened us. It assists us in our class-room teaching as we face a heterogeneous set of students in a class which consists of hyperactive & distractive

children. How to tackle such situation and make our class interesting was the objective of “STARTERS”.

The facilitator presented the importance of “STARTERS” with an activity for the teachers. “Observe the pink coloured objects around you”, everyone with full energy completed the task. This activity as a “Starter’ kept us gripped and attentive

to our surrounding and the rest of the workshop. The workshop was interesting and the scope for it is very essential in our present-generation.

The facilitator showed videos & PPT’s as well as some hands-on activities were also carried out. The class was awesome and valuable to be

implemented in our class. It was an active and interesting session.-Ms. Preetha Kumari

DAD AND ME –FOOTBALL

In almost all cultures fathers are regarded as secondary caregivers. This perception is slowly changing with more and more fathers becoming primary caregivers, while mothers go to work or in single parenting situations to encourage this we at Orchids-The International School, Mysore Road organized the Dad And Me Football Tournament on 19th Nov 2016.Fathers and their children were divided into two groups to play the match. Dad’s were enthusiastic and very sportive. They also supported their children to kick the ball and achieve the goal. It was a very healthy and a fine tournament. Children enjoyed playing with dads. Dad’s are our real hero because he is one of the most special persons in our life. He

has always taught us good values and whenever we need help, he is always available for us.
