My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
This year Thanksgiving offers us a beautiful bridge from the closing of one liturgical
year to the opening of another. I invite the whole parish family to come together for
Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day to give thanks for all the blessings we have
received this past year and to look forward with hope and expectation as we prepare to
receive Christ anew at Christmas.
Next Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent, the season of preparation and of hope. We
have published the Advent Calendar for Our Lady of Lourdes in one page so you can
put it on your refrigerator or bulletin board and take full advantage of this beautiful
season. If you have received the calendar from us in your email please forward it to
your family and friends and invite them to join us as well.
For the first Sunday of Advent we are, again, inviting everyone to bring their Advent
Wreath from home to Mass and we will bless it together with the Advent Wreath for
the parish. If you do not have an Advent Wreath for home you can get one at our Holy
Boutique. Our Angel Tree returns and will be set up in the outside vestibule. The
Angel Tree has ornaments on it with the names of people who could use and would
love a little help and affection at Christmas. Each ornament has a suggested gift on it
and our St. Vincent de Paul Society will be collecting and distributing our gifts.
The First Week of Advent is also our Advent Mission with Sr. Regina Marie, OCD.
Sister is the vicar general of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart, who are
with us at ACC. I have heard her speak and there is good reason for her being in such
demand. The theme of the mission is Growing Closer to the Lord. It will be Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings. She will speak in English and we will provide
simultaneous translation into Spanish.
Our annual Mass of Consecration to Jesus through Mary will be Saturday, December
7th at 6:30 p.m. The traditional Gritería, in honor of the Immaculate Conception,
follows in the parish hall.
The third Sunday of Advent we bless our expectant mothers, their children in the
womb, and their families. Advent is a beautiful time to celebrate God’s gift of life and
to say yes with Mary to our place in His divine plan.
Our Advent Reconciliation Services will be the evening of Dec. 16th. We will begin in
the main church following the evening Mass and will have as many of our neighboring
priests as possible joining us to hear confessions in English, Spanish, French, and
Creole.
You can see then that we have a beautiful season planned so that we might enter wholly
into the joy of Christmas when we gather to celebrate our Savior’s birth. Come and
join us!

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
Este año el Dia de Acción de Gracias nos ofrece un hermoso puente desde la clausura
de un año litúrgico a la apertura de otro. Invito a toda la familia parroquial a reunirse en
Misa a las 10:00 am el día de Acción de Gracias para dar gracias por todas las
bendiciones que hemos recibido este año pasado y mirar al futuro con esperanza y
expectativa, mientras nos preparamos para recibir de nuevo a Cristo en la Navidad.
El próximo domingo es el primer domingo de Adviento, tiempo de preparación y de
esperanza. Hemos publicado el Calendario de Adviento de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes
en una página para que pueda ponerlo en el refrigerador o el tablón de anuncios y sacar
el máximo provecho de esta bella temporada. Si usted ha recibido el calendario de
nosotros en su correo electrónico, por favor envíelo a su familia y amigos e invítelos a
unirse a nosotros.
Para el primer domingo de Adviento estamos nuevamente invitando a todos a traer su
corona de Adviento a Misa para bendecirla junto con la corona de Adviento de la
parroquia. Si usted no tiene una Corona de Adviento para su hogar puede conseguirla en
nuestra Tienda. Nuestro Árbol de Ángeles regresa y se pondrá en el vestíbulo
exterior. El Árbol de Ángeles tiene adornos con los nombres de personas que podrían
utilizar y que les encantaría un poco de ayuda y afecto en Navidad. Cada adorno tiene
un regalo sugerido en él y nuestro grupo de San Vicente de Paúl estará recolectando y
distribuyendo nuestros regalos.
La primera semana de Adviento es también nuestra misión de Adviento con la Hermana
Regina Marie, OCD. La Hermana es vicario general de las Hermanas Carmelitas del
Sagrado Corazón, que están con nosotros en la escuela secundaria. La he oído hablar y
hay una buena razón para que tenga tanta demanda. El tema de la misión es Cada vez
más cerca del Señor. Será Lunes, Martes y Miércoles por la noche. Ella va a hablar en
inglés y proporcionaremos traducción simultánea al español.
Nuestra Misa anual de la Consagración a Jesús por María será el sábado 7 de diciembre
a las 6:30 pm. La tradicional Gritería en honor a la Inmaculada Concepción sigue en el
salón parroquial.
El tercer domingo de Adviento bendecimos nuestras futuras madres, a sus hijos en el
vientre, y sus familias. El Adviento es un tiempo hermoso para celebrar el don de la
vida de Dios y decir que sí con María a nuestro lugar en Su plan divino.
Nuestro Servicio de Reconciliación de Adviento será la noche del 16 de Diciembre.
Empezaremos en la iglesia principal después de la Misa por la noche y tendremos
tantos de nuestros sacerdotes vecinos como sea posible para escuchar confesiones en
inglés, español, francés y creole.
Puede ver entonces que tenemos una buena temporada planeada para que podamos
entrar en su totalidad en el gozo de la Navidad, cuando nos reunimos para celebrar el
nacimiento de nuestro Salvador. ¡Ven y únete a nosotros!

Thanksgiving Day Let us Give Thanks!
There will be only one Mass (multilingual) celebrating Thanksgiving day at 10 AM on Thursday,
November 28, 2013. The offertory collection at Mass will be to assist our ministries that help the poor.
All children are invited to dress as Pilgrims or Indians, or in their native country costumes for Mass this day.
Immediately following Thanksgiving Mass, we will be having a pie and cider reception at the entrance of the Church. We invite you bring a pie before Mass, to the Sacristy, and share a few minutes together afterwards with your parish family, for
this, our delicious celebration.

comunidad de fe. Deposite esta hoja en las canastas de la colecta el Domingo o déjela en la Oficina Parroquial.
Usted recibirá una solicitud de registro por correo electrónico. Una vez que haya completado su solicitud y su registro es miembro oficial de nuestra parroquia y nuestra arquidiócesis.
Sabia Ud. Que los sobres de la parroquia se usan, no solamente para registrar sus contribuciones, sino también
para verificar su asistencia a misa? Si desea que su hijo(a) sea bautizado o confirmado, desea casarse, si quiere
recibir una carta de recomendación para ser padrino de una de las escuelas secundarias católicas, es necesario
establecer su asistencia regular a la misa. La única manera de hacerlo es si usted utiliza el sistema de sobres
parroquiales para saber que usted asiste a misa regularmente.
Did you know that your parish envelopes are used not only to record your contributions for tax purposes, but
also to verify your attendance at Mass? If you wish to have your child baptized or you wish to be married, or if
you wish to receive a letter of recommendation to be a sponsor for Baptism or Confirmation, or have a tuition
card signed from one of the local Catholic High Schools, your attendance at Mass will need to be established.
This can only be done if we know that you attend Mass regularly through your use of the parish envelopes.
