YOUTH FAITH FORMATIONAll dioceses in the United States are required to provide safeenvironment training for children and youth. This is not “sexeducation.” Rather, it is age-appropriate information forchildren and youth so they can know how to help createsafe environments for them, and what to do when they feelthat a certain environment is not safe. For our children andyouth, our diocese uses Circle of Grace, a program developedby the Archdiocese of Omaha and endorsed by CatholicMutual Group. Youth Faith Formation grades 3rd-6th will betaught the circle of grace curriculum April 8th, 15th, and22nd. For more information about the Circle of Graceprogram, please contact Kay Kay [email protected].

Grateful Stewardsof God’s Gifts . . .

Therefore, I say to you, the Kingdom of God willbe taken away from you and given to a peoplethat will produce its fruit. Matthew 21:43

There are over 8,000 wineries in North America. Not everyonehas a vineyard, but that’s a lot of grapes on the vines.Everyone should tour a winery and a vineyard at least once.Owners and workers enter into a relationship with the landthat is 24/7 and 365 days a year, and it’s inspiring toobserve. The hard work is worth it, especially, when youcan produce a fine wine that causes a wine drinker to smile.I just can’t imagine doing all that work. I am glad it’s easierto enjoy wine by just buying it in a store.

Being good stewards in the vineyard of the Lord isn’t thateasy either. Much is entrusted to us to care for and cultivate. The expectation is that good fruit will be produced. Whenthe time comes that we are asked for the fruits of our labor,we can react negatively because we have not been the mostproductive workers. What we sometimes forget is that, withthe help of the One who owns the vineyard, we can producemore good fruit than we can imagine. Making good winetakes practice, commitment and love of the craft. Somebarrels of wine produced are not good at all. Mistakes arepart of the process but perseverance can lead to one thatis spectacular. An excerpt from Everyday Stewardship

“Being good stewards in the vineyard of the Lord isn’t thateasy either. Much is entrusted to us to care for and cultivate.”We are called to be good stewards of what God has givenus. If we read Matthew 21:33-43, we will find the wholeparable. I just chose the verse above because it gets rightto the point of what happens if we don’t take care of whatGod has given us. How do we decide what we need to takecare of, what are our priorities? Are they our family, our job,our faith?

God allows us to have all that we have, this is a hard conceptfor a lot of people. They think they worked for it, then theyare responsible for what they have, but truly God has givenus all that we have, the ability to be who and where we are.One homily Fr. Francis gave to the school children wentlike this: “Be sure to thank God every night and everymorning. God allowed us to get through the day and thenight so we need to thank him.” If we should thank him forsomething as simple as that, we must be grateful for all thegood things we have and even the not so good. Becauseout of the bad and hard things, we learn to appreciate thegood. Serve the Lord, serve others, take care of God’s giftsto us, we will be glad we did.

Witnessing the Good NewsA FAITH FORMATION INITIATIVE

Easter is a time of witness. Just like in the resurrectionaccount of the Gospel of Mark, after Mary sees Jesus sheruns to tell her friends Peter and the other apostles. Justas Mary is so excited about the news of Jesus’ resurrectionshe has to share it with her friends, we too should be excitedabout what Jesus has done in our lives.

During this Easter season, we as a parish are going tofocus on what it means to be a witness to the good news ofJesus’ power in the Resurrection. During different Masses,we will have individuals from our community share how Jesushas changed their lives. When we share our stories, we letJesus shine through us. These personal witnesses encourageothers in their own journey towards Jesus in His Church.
