vision to bring Saint Laurent back to the most original design concept since
his arrival. The series of move that initiated include the changes in style and
brand name from Yves Saint Laurent to Saint Laurent which had astonished

designed his debut IT bag – Duffle bag for Saitn Laurent. The key idea that he
was based on is to create a bag that is suitable for daily trips. The bag’s
silhouette was indeed originated form a hand-made black box which was
consisted of pure function and classicism. It is acknowledged that Hedi had
tailor-made a second one for Mr. Yves Saint Laurent’s long-term partner Pierre
Berge.
The bag was completed in a sleek and concise silhouette, the detachable
chain enables users to carry in arms or put on shoulders and it is available in
a range of color including black, earth, wine red, green and dove white. Hedi’s
good friends Kate Moss, leading actress of Transformers Rosie Hungtinton-
Whiteley and British singer Lily Allen had all become the loyal fans of Hedi’s

The saying “No news is good news” sounds reasonable on international
current affairs but not for a talent who has high reputation in fashion circle
and just returned to well-known luxury brand Saint Laurent—Hedi Sliamne.
What he needs now are exactly news and noise, no matter good or bad ones.
Making noise, Hedi just did it, in a surprisingly successful way. The move of
renaming the brand has already astonished everyone in the industry but Hedi
is not satisfied with that. He made another radical move by staging models in
California grunge look in 2013 Fall/ Winter fashion week, in which the style is
totally different from former designers in the house. With such a short time for
them to digest the news, fashion critics expressed their intolerance towards
the collection.
Nevertheless, it is these negative noises and criticisms which reassured
Heid’s precious media value. Just take a look on the snapshots that Kate

Minimalist New Rive Gauche
Hedi Slimane’s major moves in brand name change and relocating the design studio have grounded his ambition in
leading Saint Laurent’s re-launch with a brand new image. For this spring / summer women’s collection, he creates
a vibrantly personalized look for woman with his first accessory collection that includes the two simple, smart,
modern bags of Duffle and Sac de Jour; and offers reinterpretation of the Maestro’s iconic Paris and Janis shoes.
The Duffle Bag understatedly features embossed Saint Laurent signature in gold. The unique processing of the box
leather bag keeps it in shape even carrying various weights. The bag is sized by four sets of numbers: 6/12/24/48
that symbolize appropriate hours of use. The greater the number is, the longer the hours of use they represent, as
its capacity is proportionally increased. Sac de Jour, as it directly translates from French, offers a formal sketch
contrary to the casual Duffle bag. The touch of calf plus its minimalist exterior imply the poise of managing intricacy
with simplicity for busy office ladies.
Studded pointy-toed Paris shoes are also innovated items. Hedi transformed the two mini logo plaques from the old
version into square pumps as a symbol to salute the Rive Gauche tradition by Maestro Saint Laurent. Janis shoes,
on the other hand, are implemented with studded T-strap Mary Jane to present the contrasting design of retro and
rebel. The highlighted collection is the precious metal jewelry created by Hedi. The manufacturing technology of the
precision industry features a 925 sterling silver base plated with 5mm of 18K before being meticulously assembled
for a seamless presentation. It is then applied with mirror polishing for a cool shine. The minimalist, personalized
style meticulously echoes Hedi’s new Saint Laurent image.
