Hurricane Relief Collection Second Wave

As we were unable to take up Second Collections for the severe natural disasters in Texas, Florida, Puer-to Rico, etc., we will do so next Sunday for ongoing needs. Monies will be forwarded to the Archdiocese of New York to be sent to affected Americans.

All Saints Day A Holy Day

On November 1st, a week from Wednesday, is the solemnity of All Saints. All of us Christians worldwide will gather for Masses in our respective churches. As it’s our duty as faithful Catholics to celebrate the Eucharist on that day, we ask you to please mark it on your calendars. As this is a holy day of obligation, we will celebrate Mass at 7:30 AM and 12:15 PM, in addition to our regular daily Masses at 9:00 and 5:30..

PARISH Advisory COUNCIL Pre-Advent

The five [s]elected Council representatives of our parishioners and the Pastoral Staff will meet in the rectory at 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 12th to discuss plans for Advent and Christmas. As is our custom, it will be a dinner meeting.

IMPORTANT! Parish Pay Online Donations

Our electronic “giving service”, Parish Pay, has been acquired by Liturgical Publications (LPI). It became WE SHARE on October 19, 2017. ALL CURRENT, 150 PARISH PAY SUBSCRIBERS WERE AUTOMATICALLY BE TRANSFERRED to the WE SHARE system on that date. We have been assured by the Archdiocese of New York that this process is very easy and very safe. If you haven’t as yet received this notice, all current Parish Pay subscribers will receive an e-mail from WE SHARE, notifying them of the change. The e-mail will include simple instructions for verifying your account information on the WE SHARE system. You will be asked to: log in to the site via the Parish Pay link on the home page of the Holy Trinity Church website [htcny.org] and follow the prompts to verify your account information. Please be on the lookout for the e-mail, and thank you for using this online system, which provides a steady stream of your (generous) donations throughout the year. What a parish!

* * * * * * * * 2018 Missalettes

For three years, many parishioners have enjoyed the convenience of having the texts for the Confiteor, the Gloria, and the Creed on the back of each Missalette. Well, Oregon Catholic Press now prints those same texts on the inside front covers, so you will not see that HT-generated card on the back cover of the 2018 Missalettes. Some of the older Religious Ed. children who have been so kindly inserting the 900+ cards, under Colleen’s oversight, are now celebrating! Ha! Thanks, kids.

Last Sunday’s Potluck Approximately 60 parishioners attended the Italian Potluck, downstairs in the Murphy Center, following the 5:30 Mass last week. We extend a hand of gratitude to those who planned it. We are trying to build up the community spirit of our parish by means of occasional evening dinners. Please plan on attending one in the future. They are for us!

Altar Server Practices Kevin Mc Kenna and Msgr. Sandi are completing the training for boys and girls, Grade 5 through High School Seniors, who have decided to be Holy Trinity Acolytes (altar servers). We continue to meet on every October Saturday at 10:00, and every October Sunday at 4:00 in the church. They must attend three sessions. Remaining practice dates are: 4:00 PM, Sunday afternoons, Oct 22, 29 10:00 AM, Saturday mornings, Oct 28

Sophia, ChurchMouse Reporting unseen works of faith, hope and charity to uplift you.

Here is a powerful thought for each of us to ponder. Please remember, we Christians judge actions not people as morally good or bad for the purpose of helping each other on the road to God’s Kingdom. And how we do it is nothing less than life supporting. “We need, I believe, to be more self-critical in regards to our anger, harsh judgments, mean-spirit, exclusiveness, and disdain for other’s conscience and chosen moral paths. As T.S. Eliot once said: ‘The last temptation that’s the greatest treason is to do the right thing for the wrong reason.’ We may have truth and right morals on our side. But our anger and harsh judgments towards those who don’t share our truth and morals may well have us standing outside the Father’s house, like the older brother of the Prodigal Son, bitter both at God’s mercy and at those who are receiving that mercy.” Fr. Ron Rolheiser
