My dear friends in Christ,
Today we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. Sr. Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun, was God’s instrument to proclaim Divine Mercy toward every human being. Sr. Faustina was inspired by a vision in which Jesus told her that a painting should be made of his image with the invocation "Jesus, I trust in You." She commissioned the painting in 1935. Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, then Archbishop of Krakow who would become St. Pope John Paul II, began Sr. Faustina's process of beatification. At her canonization in 2000, the Pope designated the Second Sunday of Easter to be Divine Mercy Sunday. The Pope's final days coincided with the Church's preparation to celebrate the feast he described as flowing from Christ's "most profound mercy," and which the Lord himself established. Why did Pope John Paul II so strongly recommend that we pay heed to the Divine Mercy message and devotion given to the world through St. Faustina? Clearly, he did so because he saw it as more than just a collection of "private revelations"; rather, he saw them as prophetic revelations. In other words, revelations given to us by God to proclaim the heart of the Gospel in a way especially suited to meet the needs of our era. So when you are having doubts or are faced with difficult situations don’t despair—simply pause— have faith and say “Jesus, I trust in you.”
The weekend of April 14th and 15th, we will have our Ministry Fair. All ministries of our parish will be represented after all the Masses in Bogdan Hall. Tables will be set up with information and representatives from each ministry will be available to explain the respective parish ministry and answer your questions. The Knights of Columbus will also have their Family Breakfast. More details next week.

ADORERS NEEDED Our Cohort, Resurrection Parish in Delran, is very much in need of Adorers for their Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. Can you spend some time with The Lord during the week? The Adoration Chapel at the Holy Name site is open 24 hours a day. The Blessed Sacrament must have at least two adorers at all times. Please consider giving of whatever time you may have by making a visit with the Lord!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION NEWS On March 24th, the youth of our parish preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation participated in a Pilgrimage Retreat at the Saint John Neumann Shrine located in Saint Peter Church in Philadelphia and then continued on to the Divine Word Missionaries in Bordentown. A great time was had by all as they participated in a variety of activities to prepare for the Sacrament and living as fully initiated Catholics. We would especially like to thank Dr. and Mrs. Harry Vahey for their tireless work with and dedication to our children each and every year in preparation for this Sacrament. By their example they truly inspire our children in the ways of The Lord. So now we ask you, our parishioners, as their family in faith, to continue to keep these young people in your prayers as they journey to the Sacrament of Confirmation on Monday, April 23, 2018.
MINISTRY OF CONSOLATION
Jesus, the Good Shepherd Parish Ministry of Consolation is offering a six week guided Bereavement Series for those who want to work through the task of grieving in the light of faith. The program is entitled “A Journey From Grief to Healing.” This series is for those who have lost a spouse, parent sibling, friend, etc. It will begin on Saturday, April 7 and will conclude on Saturday, May 19, 2018. Time: 10:00 to 11:30 AM. The series will be conducted in the Conference Room at Saint Joseph Church, 805 Warren Street, Beverly, NJ.
