Patient Transport Officer/Trainee Patient Transport

Officer

Salary- $48,792.00 - $50,968.00

As a member of the Patient Transport Unit (PTU), the primary focus of this position is to provide

safe, comfortable and cost effective transportation services in scenarios that include:-

Transfer of patients from MLHD Facilities to another facility, internal or external to the

Local Health District.

Transport of patients from MLHD Facilities to medical appointments at another hospital

or private sector provider.

assist, as required, NSW Ambulance with patient transfers to assist bed flow management

Provide service between the hours of 6am and midnight as part of a 7 day rotating roster.

NOTE: Successful candidates who have completed training in and to undergo any mandatory

periodic refresher training in the following:

Advanced cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Guedels Airways

Basic life support skills

Advanced First Aid

Patient handling and lifting techniques,

Driver training

Oxygen administration and transport and handling of specialised equipment (eg cardiac

defibrillators)

For other successful candidates appointment will be as a Trainee patient transport officer who is

undertaking training and workplace mentoring in order to successfully complete the

requirements for appointment to a Patient Transport Officer.

1) Applicants to have a HLTAID006 Provide Advanced First Aid and HLTAID007 Provide

Advanced Resuscitation certificates. Consideration may be given to applicants with a current

First Aid certificate, who are able to undertake the Advanced First Aid certificate at their own

expense within the first 6 months of appointment

2) Current licence to drive in NSW (Class C) with a proven safe driving record verified by a

current Roads and Maritime Services licence printout and a knowledge of and ability to

undertake minor motor maintenance.

Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) provides ambulance services to the public,

health institutions, community and sporting groups, businesses, medical research bodies

and other Government agencies.

The Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) is an operational role within the QAS that

works collaboratively with the Operation Centre team, the broader QAS organisation and

other health care and emergency services.

The QAS is now recruiting for future EMDs who will receive emergency calls, provide essential

pre-arrival advice, and to coordinate and dispatch QAS resources and patient transport

movements for the Queensland community.

Successful applicants should have superior communication skills and the ability to manage

extreme situations with calmness and leadership. Successful applicants must have the ability to

type 40wpm with 95% accuracy. Although call centre/emergency services and/or community

services experience is preferred, it is not essential to perform in the role, as on the job training is

provided.

Ambulance Support Officer 1

Salary Range: $53,337 - $56,681 + shift penalties/overtime (PN: 21278, several)

Patient Transport Officers provide non-emergency patient transport to and from healthcare

facilities, clinics and private residences. To succeed in the role you must have a strong desire to

help others, have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills and an ability to work as

part of a small team in a time-sensitive environment and commit to working a shiftwork roster,

including weekends and public holidays.

Eligibility/Other Requirements: Current ACT "C" driver's licence or interstate equivalent. A

standard of medical/physical fitness and strength appropriate to perform the physical activities

and duties of a Patient Transport Officer. Successful applicants will be required to undergo a

criminal record check. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Certificate III in

Non-emergency Client Transport - continued employment is dependent on attainment of this

qualification. Applicants already holding the prescribed qualification are encouraged to apply

and may be eligible for accelerated advancement.

Note: These are temporary positions available for a period of 12 months with the possibility of

permanency upon successful completion of the required qualification - Certificate III in Non-

emergency Client Transport. Reasonable relocation expenses are available to assist with

relocation to the Australian Capital Territory.

This position is also entitled to salary packaging with a fringe benefits tax-free threshold up to

$9095.00. Prior to commencing in this role, a current registration issued under the Working with

Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 may be required.

The role

The primary objective of this role is to provide an effective and efficient service in the transport

in achieving service goals and targets relating to Non-Emergency transport.

holidays). The successful applicant will be required to drive and operate all vehicle types.

(Ambulance) or equivalent and not less than 400 hours of supervised clinical practice. A current

IMS Victoria (a division of Industrial Medic Services) is a professional company specialising

in the provision of Occupational Injury Services, Remote Field Paramedics, Event Medical

and Non-Emergency Patient Transport services.

We are seeking applications from qualified individuals to join our Non-Emergency Patient

Transport Service division in Victoria servicing Metropolitan Melbourne.

Qualifications (Essential Criteria):

Candidates must be qualified as follows:-

Patient Transport Officer - Certificate III Patient Transport Officers.

Your CV should include a history of work experience, education and relevant training.

Candidates with previous employment, proven track record and experience working

Whilst the role is predominantly Monday to Friday (Business Hours) you must be available to

work a varied or rotational roster including some nights and some weekend shifts as agreed.

You must have a current unrestricted drivers licence in the state of Victoria and be prepared to

provide a statement of driving record including declaration of any previous offences, loss of

demerit points and any other road traffic matters.

CLINIC TRANSPORT OFFICER – 3 x FULLTIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE WITHIN

METROPOLITAN EAST AND PENINSULA (Not restricted to AV employees)

Ambulance Victoria invites applications for the position of Clinic Transport Officer (Full time),

based in the following nominated locations of Boronia, Vermont South and Rosebud.

About the role Reporting to the Client Transport Services Manager, Clinic Transport Officers (CTO) provide

care and transport to Non-Emergency patients. The primary objective of this role is to provide

an effective and efficient service in the transport of Non-Emergency patients between home and

hospital or medical facilities to assist in achieving service goals and targets relating to Non-

Emergency transport.

The rosters fall between the hours of 6:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday, with occasional

weekend work on a rotating roster basis. The successful applicants will primarily be working as a

single officer in a clinic car but will be required to drive and operate all vehicle types.

About you

To be successful in this position, applicants must hold a Certificate III in Non-Emergency Patient

Transport or hold one of the following alternative Ambulance qualifications – Qualified

Ambulance Paramedic, Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance), or Bachelor of Health

Science – Paramedic degree. A current Victorian driver licence is also essential.

Upon commencement with Ambulance Victoria, all successful applicants must be available to

attend a two week induction program in South Melbourne, from November 2016 onwards. The

induction will be based around office hours, Monday to Friday for the duration of the program.

The successful applicants will be required to pass a medical and physical fitness assessment as

determined by Ambulance Victoria.

3) Well developed verbal and written communication skills with ability to work both

independently and within a team.

4) Demonstrated physical capability of transferring patients, loading, unloading and

manoeuvring patients around, on and off stretchers or wheelchairs. This will be demonstrated by

the passing of a functional assessment which will be conducted by MLHD

5) Demonstrated ability to consistently maintain a professional manner and presentation.

6) Willingness to operate from any site within Murrumbidgee Local Health District with the

ability to work rotating shifts and flexible hours. There is the expectation that residing away from

home on occasions may be necessary.

7) Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Suite. e.g. Word, Outlook.
