They must have thought me worthless when

they left me by the side of the road - I was nothing more

to them than a dirty, matted,

frightened boy - but the Good

Samaritan who picked me up

recognized me for what I am - a lost treasure, a beautiful soul in need

of care. My name is Leo and I’ve endured a sad past, probably at the hands of a backyard breeder.

And yet, despite it all, I’m gentle, trusting and loving. I was born with no eyes, most likely due to the poor

nutrition and care given to my mother. I can see with my heart, though, and I know love when I feel it. Now I’m all cleaned up, vaccinated and flea-free. I sleep in a clean bed, I love to be held and I love to ride in a car. I am as quiet as a mouse and have never had an accident in my foster home. I get

around just fine without eyesight and am learning my way around furniture. I love to cuddle and am

very affectionate. I’m less than 2-years-old and am thought to be a Maltese. Would you like to adopt

me? You will be getting a most precious package! Please call R.A.C.E. (Rescue Animals Community Effort) at 910-547-2839 for adoption information. I’d

like to thank my foster mom for bringing me to the PawPrints photo shoot, and I’d like to thank Dick

Parrott for taking my cover portrait. They and many others have shown me just how worthy I am.

Hello, my name is Callie. I am a Lab Retriever

mix. I was surren-dered to C.A.R.E. because I was sus-pected to have Dis-temper. With the

help of the C.A.R.E.

volunteers I am all

better now and full of energy. I get along great with other dogs and people. I am not sure about cats since I have

not been exposed to them. If you are interested in adopt-ing me, then please see the application and the required specifications before applying at carewilmington.org. For

questions, you can call 910-256-2624.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).

My name is Lyla and I have not met a person or animal that I didn’t like! If you’re friendly

and social like me, I bet we would make a great team! At just 2½-years-old, I’m a Boxer mix girl who is already spayed,

vaccinated and on heart-worm prevention. I love to play with toys and I

love to receive attention from humans. I am

great with cats, other dogs and I love children,

but I’d probably fit in best with older kids because of my energy. I’m also doing very well with my basic commands! We can take trips to the dog park or beach and have a fantastic life together.

I’d love to play in our fenced yard, go for walks in the neighborhood and snuggle on the couch with you. If all this sounds good, call SOAR today and inquire about

adopting me! Their number is 910-457-6340.

I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the

Rainbow Bridge.

Hello, my name is Lacy and I’m a 5-month old Lab mix.

As you can see from the initial picture of the gaping wound in my neck, this is what ani-mal cruelty looks like. I got away from the person who

allowed my collar to become embedded in my neck and

thankfully was found by Brunswick County Animal Protective Services and

brought to Furever Friends Animal Rescue. Dr. Hanby

removed the collar and, along with the great staff at Cape-side Animal Hospital, has

been providing me with the best medical care. I have

progressed extremely well in one week, been spayed,

given all vaccinations and a microchip. I am healthy and

now accepting adoption appli-cations. This time I require competent owners who will

treat me properly and give me a loving home. Even with all I have experienced in my short life, I am extremely sweet,

gentle and love all animals and humans. To adopt me, call Furever Friends Animal Rescue at 910-383-2100.

I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in

Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

SMALL DOGS ALERT!

We’re a mother/daughter duo

who would love to cuddle you, kiss you and double your

happiness. We can do it, too,

because we are two of the

sweetest, most loving dogs

you’ve ever met. My name is

Mocha - I’m the lighter-colored one on the left. My mother is Chanel.

We are tiny Chihuahua girls who were found abandoned in a trailer. They tell us we’re 4 to 5-years-old and we are spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. We are gentle, quiet dogs who love people. We enjoy

hanging out with you and keeping you company. We will roll over and let you rub our soft bellies. We also will hop in your lap and let you cuddle us as long as you like! We can be adopted together or separately, but it would be so wonderful to be adopted together. After all, we’re well-trained, friendly and eager to please, no trouble at all!

Please call Pender County Humane Society at 910-259-7022 for adoption information.

We are sponsored by Ginger, in memory of a great

little guy named Charlie.

Do your chil-dren need a sweet dog to play with and

love? Or maybe you

do? Well, I’m perfect for

everyone! My name is

Jennie and I’m a family-friendly girl

who would be an excellent companion.

At just 2-years-old, I’m a very

sweet Hound mix who will happily sit on

command. That’s what I’m doing in my photo - aren’t I a pretty girl? I love to be petted and I love receiving attention. I am al-ready spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention.

The only thing left on my list to do is find my forever home! Call Pender County Humane Society at

910-259-7022 and tell them you’re interested in me.

Sponsored in memory of Milo, the big black dog who stole our hearts! Mommy and Daddy miss you every day!

I’ve Been Waiting and Waiting for a Home! Please Read About Me! Hello there! I'm Mickey

(A067697), a 2-year-old male Lab. Everyone keeps singing to me "Oh Mickey, you're so fine..." but I don't let it go to my head! I'm doing my

best to be an all-around wonder-ful dog. Sitting

politely? Check. Playing gleefully

with toys? Check. Wag-ging my whole body when I'm happy? Check. Making the most

of my soulful puppy dog eyes? Double check. Great on a leash and easy

to handle? Check, check. The one thing I'm missing is a family to love. Please come out to meet me if you think I’m the sweetheart you’re missing in your life! Call Brunswick

County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services at 910-754-8204. They’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have.

I am sponsored by Terry, Patty and Trigger. Thank you!

December 2013 www.facebook.com/PawPrintsMagazine 9

◄My name is Mongo and I am an exuberant, active girl. I am full of

life and lots of love that needs to be channeled. I am a Yellow Lab mix with one blue eye. I

grew of age in a shelter which is always a set-

back, but I respond really well to leadership

and consistency, so this can be overcome in time. I do well with

other dogs but not cats. I am crate-trained, but

need a fenced yard with someone who can meet my exercise and mental needs.

I am a mid-sized girl who weighs around 40 to 45 pounds. You have to meet me to see how beautiful I really am.

◄I am Sarah. I am a quiet, sweet, gentle girl who wants a family to call my own. I like

most other dogs, walk nicely on a

leash and I am even crate-

trained. I am a humble, loving girl who had a rough start but if you take me in, I will be forever grateful. I am an EASY dog who is set-tled with good house manners, too. And my deep, vibrant black and white fur is striking and breathtaking. I am super

healthy, too. Wouldn't you love to have me as your new best friend?

◄My name is Johnnie and I am a Walker Hound mix with probably some Basset Hound given my really long droopy ears and slightly bowed out

feet. I am a real sweetheart, very friendly and playful. I am neutered, heartworm negative

and have all of my shots. I weigh around 50 to 60 pounds. I am a goofy boy with a really unique woof (like to bay). In this picture, I have flipped my

ear back like a girl who flips her hair back over to the side! How

cute is that? I am gentle and do not have a mean bone in my body. I am just a typical hound

dog who is great with dogs, kids and cats - and I will remind you of Droopydog. I would

do best in a home with another dog to play with and a fenced-in back yard to run, romp and play in.

◄I’m a lovebug who will make you so very happy! Riley is my name and I’ll lay my head in your lap so sweetly it will melt your heart. I’m a 1-year-old boy who was found as a stray. Someone once taught me how to sit on command, though, and I’m already neu-tered. I love toys and will carry them around in my mouth. I’m very affectionate and want nothing more than to be your boy. Let’s go!

►Hi, I'm Saint. Don't you just love my

smile? I am a sweet boy who may be a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly. It usually

only takes a scratch on the head, and we are best of friends!! I get

along well with my doggie friends, too and I’m good on a leash. I am house-trained and healthy. In this picture

I am looking up to Heaven above and

praying, “Dear God, please send my family to me. If you do I promise to protect them forever.”

►Hi there, friends! My name is Tanya and I’m a 1-year-old female Boxer mix who has been wait-

ing for a family since August! How can that

be? I’m a wonderful girl and I’m ready to join a

loving, furever family. I will be the best friend

you could ever imagine - I listen, I love and I'll

probably make you laugh with my sweet, silly side!

Do yourself a big favor and hurry up and come

adopt me. I’ll be waiting to welcome you!

Beauregard here, but you can call me

Beau. It was a rather bit chilly on my

walk this morning. I saw some

squirrels and rabbits. I

know the dif-ference be-tween the

two. My foster dad tried to trick me at the end of his leash. He walked on my left, but I slid behind him each time to

take my rightful position on his left. If he didn’t tether him-self to me with that leash, I swear he wouldn’t know how to get back to the house. The grub here is pretty good. I’m

looking forward to working it off soon at this place dad calls the “dog park.” I’m ready because I had a good night sleep last night. I now know when I go in that crate at night, dad will be there to let me out in the morning. No further need to protest that. Once this ear infection is over with, I would

be more than happy to grace your presence by coming home. To make me a member of your family, please call

919-708-4247 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com. Also, we are always short on foster homes! If you have ever thought about fostering, please contact Carolina Basset Hound Rescue for more details. Tail wags and kindest

regards, Beauregard

I am sponsored in honor of Maryrose Miller and her unwavering compassion for all animals.

URGENT, URGENT! My Time Is

Running Out! I’m a Family Dog

on the search for a family! My name

is Jasper (A006195) and I

can’t quite believe that a well-mannered

sweetheart like me is watching the

days pass by in a shelter. I’m a

young Black Lab who could move

into my new family’s home with

ease. I’m house-trained, leash-trained and wireless fence-trained. I ride well in the car and I get along great

with all people. I recently went to an adoption fair and ate treats so gently out of little children’s hands. I am friendly to other dogs, but I prefer to eat alone, so if you can feed me separately from your other canines, everything will be just fine. I have a sweet, loveable personality and will be

happy to show you how I sit on command when you come visit me! Please give me a chance. For adoption

information or directions, call Pender County Animal Shelter at 910-259-1484 or email

[email protected].

I am sponsored in honor of Kathleen M. Langone.

I've got so much love and loyalty waiting to be shared with a great family. Come meet me!

◄Hello! I'm Dipstick (A067922) and I'm a 1-year-old kitty boy. Let me tell you a little secret: I might look like an all-black cat but the very tip of my tail is white and everyone tells me that makes me very special and ex-tra sweet! I'm super friendly and outgoing - give me a good back rub and we're best friends for life! I also enjoy playing with toys and entertaining the hu-mans. Come visit me and see if I could be your next family mem-ber. We may just be a match!

►Hello! I'm Mitzy (A068432) and I’m an 11-month-old female

kitty. I’m a stunningly gorgeous Tortoiseshell

my time either playing with silly cat toys or

cozying up in a lap! I'd love to have my own

family, so please come see if I'm the kitty

you’ve been wishing for!

◄Hello! My name is Clayton (A068187) and I’m a 2-year-old male kitty. I am quite the cuddle bug - if you hold out your hand, I will definitely take that as an invitation to rub against it! I like to make myself at home wherever I am so don't be surprised if I hop right into your lap! I have beautiful orange and white fur and would be a great new companion for you and your family. Please hurry out and meet me - I’d love to end this year in a new home!

◄Hi everyone! I'm Plank (A067597), a 2-year-old male kitty with orange and white fur. I'm a laid-back kind of guy, ready to relax on a cushy couch with a family who loves me. The volunteers say I’m a calm, well-adjusted boy who would be a wonderful com-panion for some lucky per-son or family. So how about it? Please come meet me - I promise you'll fall in love!

►Hi! I'm Fido (A068143), a 4-month-

old male Redbone/black and tan Hound mix. I

have the quintessential dog name because I'm the quintessential pup: waggly tail, goofy grin

and a heart full of puppy love! I give the sweet-est puppy kisses, too!

Along with my siblings, I'm waiting patiently to join a loving family all my own! If you think I

could be your next fam-ily member, please

come see me!

Cats ~ Dogs

My name is Watson and I’m

a 2-year-old Greyhound/Walker mix.

This photo was taken when I was rescued

from the shelter three months ago. You can see in my eyes

I have been through so

much. I have been in training at New Hanover

Prison since then and am making lots of progress! I’m still very shy of

new things and noises, but I’m a sweet boy and would love to have a family. I get along great with other dogs. My

buddy Sherlock was adopted last month and I miss him, so please consider helping me with a new beginning in a for-

ever home! Call Monica at 910-297-1338 or email [email protected].

Thank you to Connie and Addie for sponsoring me

and helping me find a home!

Hello! My name is Blossom! I am a sweet, black kitty with a little patch of white on my

chest, right over my big red heart! (And a little one on my tummy

too!) I was a feral kitten who came to the vet to be spayed and re-

leased, but I was just too sweet so I came to live with

C.A.R.E. It's been 4 years, but I am still searching for my furever home.

Is it with you? Please see the

application and the required specifications before applying at carewilmington.org. If you have any questions, please

VOLUNTEERS and FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!!

Call 910-792-9014 for more information. ◄Did you know that black cats

are the greatest ever? Did you also know that statistically we are the least adopted of

cats? Well, I am Cooper, an

8-month-old boy, and not only am I in-

credibly hand-some and strap-ping, I also have a fantastic per-

sonality and love to curl up in a cozy lap. Come visit me at the CAT adoption center at Petsmart in Wilmington and

let me show you I'll be the best cat ever for you.

Spot

◄Hi, my name is Taco! I’m a 16-week-old boy.

Nice to meet you. I was rescued from the

Taco Bell parking lot so that's why they call me Taco. Did you know

that orange tabby boys are the most awesom-est kitties ever? I'm very sweet and purr

louder than anyone. I am a little shy around

new people at first but give me some love and scratch my neck and I'll warm right up - right quick!

◄Abigail here! I am a lovely Siamese girl, just 2½-years-old, and I’m

waiting for a home where I can stretch out

in front of a window, lounge on the couch,

sleep at your feet...ah, yes - that is my dream. I enjoy being petted and I like wet food. Ahhh, wet food...that is my favorite thing in the entire world.

Do you have wet food at your house? May I come to live with you? That would be great! Call 919-710-3872 to set

an appointment to see me in my foster home.

◄Heeeey there! I'm Zelda and I'm a pretty

special girl. Most would say that I have had a

rough life because I was found needing an eye

removed and surgery to fix hip dysplasia. While it

wasn't fun, I was lucky enough to have caring

people take care of these issues for me and save my life and I consider

myself very lucky. Fact is, I don't need any special care at all aside from an indoor-only home and lots of love and af-

fection from you, your family and also your other pets (if you have any). I get along well with other cats and dogs, cuz

that's how I roll! But my favorite thing in the whole world is to be in my human's lap. Yeah, that makes me happy!

◄Oh hi! My name is Taffy and I'm just like you when get-ting to know new

people - I'm shy at first, but I warm up

quickly when I know I can trust you. So, we al-

ready have some-thing in common,

eh? Oh, I'm also a monogamous kitty, meaning I don't want to share you with anyone else! No other pets

needed with me around! When you have a lap lady like me, why would you want another? I’m just 1-year-old and am spayed, vaccinated and ready to head home with you.

◄Hello! I'm Monica. I’m a 12-week-old girl kitten.

So nice to meet you! If you didn't know,

great things come in small packages. I'm a petite princess. I love to snuggle and

be petted. I also love other friendly

cats but I stay away from dominant, bossy ones. Come visit me at Petsmart in Wilmington. My sweet, well-mannered and playful self will

melt your heart! Hope to be seeing you real soon.

Cat Tails

◄WHITE KITTY! Now

that I have your attention, be-

cause everyone wants a white

cat, take a look! Not 1, not 2, but 3 white

kitties. We are three sisters:

Paloma, Gabby, and

me, Azumi. My sisters are very flirty and outgo-

ing, but I am a little more reserved. Just like so many kit-tens, you’ll have to give me some time to adjust. We are only 3-months-old and the perfect addition to your family.

►Could you be my Sher-lock? I only asked ‘cause my name is Watson and I am looking for my Sherlock so we could solve crimes

together. Alright, so maybe a cat can’t solve crimes, but they say I am quite

inquisitive which is impor-tant for a crime-solving cat.

Now that you’re thinking about adopting me, you need to know that I’m

4-years-old, male, black and white, very friendly, adjust to new situations quickly and I get along with other cats. Now, you’ve got the 411 so come take me home.

◄With a name like Nike, you’d think I’d be light footed. Well, I’m

not so much. I’m not a heifer (because that

would be a cow, silly) but a little older, bigger, and reserved. I am a

5-year-old, dark orange female Tabby. My

owner...well, I know I should never talk bad but really!...recently returned me to Cat

Tails so they could travel. Yup, I was kicked to the curb. A fate an older cat should not have to endure. So of course I am being a little difficult with the other cats, because I was

always by myself. I get along great with all the human volunteers and that should tell you all you need to know.

◄You may or may not know that Arlo, means “manly” or

“strong”. With a name like that, you know I have to be very cool and, well, manly. I

am a big hunk of love-able sweetness! I am way friendly and just

a youngster at 9-months-old. Some

might not find me appealing, as I am a black cat, but with all

my strong suits, who could turn me down?

◄Just like Elvis, I am very friendly and outgo-ing, thus they call me Presley. However, I have never left the building and I really

would like to. And like the king of rock and roll, I am just sitting around and eating, and getting a bit of a gut. I need

some stimulation and I know there is someone out there who is willing

to play with me. Maybe we could just chase a cat ball around the floor together? We Torties and black cats just

seem to linger. Please take me home for the holidays!

►I was just a Peanut of a kit-ten, so of course

I got this silly name. Because I was in the neo-natal kitty hospi-tal I became very

dependent on people and now I

just want to be with them all the

time. People remind me of

love and safety so if you can

offer me that, I would never

leave your side. I am a beautiful 9-month-old, Tabby and white, male kitty. I am ready for a new name, so please take me home and rename me, maybe walnut, at least

that’s a bigger nut!

Hey, there, lonely girl! Yo, Baby - Booker is in the house!

Not my permanent home, but I am lookin’ for my for real crib and you

just might be the answer to my prayers. Let’s turn the lights down

low, put on some smooth jazz, and you can watch ol’ Booker get his groove on. I am great with the

ladies: lots of big, wet, sloppy kisses but just as great with guys, large and small. I roll with about

any canine posse but I need to be the only cool cat on board. Those felines are just not my cup of Pa-tron. When it comes to compan-ionship, I have 40 pounds of solid

muscle to soothe your weary bones. Had a tough day? Ol’ Booker is there uncondition-ally to cheer you up and make you feel loved and desired.

You won’t believe that this cool cat has chosen you from all the femmes and fams I could have picked - just bring me

home and settle me down in a crate or a nice round bed, add some premium kibble - my needs are simple. And check out this package - old Booker is fully loaded - all shots and sur-

geries complete. Some have the chops to question my pedi-gree. I am part American Bulldog and the rest will remain a mystery- but 100% Booker D. Dog, man about town. It was suggested to me that I might be more marketable if, at my

current level of maturity (I am two), I passed the training nec-essary to calm my heathen tendencies and reform me into a Man of Distinction. So I am fully certified as a graduate of

the Cool School (yea, I’m chill) at Petsmart. And they assure me that my certification cannot be revoked. Which brings

me to the hat in the photo. I was told that I was being fitted for a beret - suitable for jazz clubs and art galleries. Some

heads had to roll when I saw that I was sporting a cardboard dorko hat. That is just not cool! To foster or adopt me,

have your people contact my people at Columbus Humane Society: email [email protected] or call 910-619-3015.

I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of

Harley and Murphy.

Hello up there! I’m Andy, a 1½-year-old boy who is possi-bly a mix of Feist and Chihua-hua. My weight is about 25

pounds and I have the cutest underbite. I was rescued from the shelter when my time was up. Unfortunately, due to lack of prior medical care, including vaccines, I contracted a conta-gious respiratory infection and

had a rocky road back to recovery. I seem to do well with docile female dogs and I love my people. During my hospital stay, I became very attached to the staff and enjoyed spend-ing time in their laps, resting my head on their shoulder. My nickname should be Scrappy because that does describe

me. I would do well in an adult household and I am house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, up to date on vaccinations

and heartworm negative. I will make a wonderful companion to a committed household! For info, email Sunburst Founda-tion at [email protected] or call 910-622-0011.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Hank Harrington.

►Handsomest kitty around town. That’s me! My name is Butchie (A296766) and I’m a

2-year-old boy who is neu-tered, vaccinated, laid back

and super cuddly. I love to lay around making air biscuits. I’ll rub against your hand or your legs because I just want to be near you. If you want one of those aloof kitties, look else-where because that ain’t me!

I’ll be your Lap Cat, your sleep in bed and cuddle under the

covers kitty and I’ll never pass up a chance to show you love. So just remember - to adopt the handsomest, cuddliest kitty in town...the name’s Butchie!

◄My name is Diesel (A295830) and I’m a tri-

colored, 3-year-old Beagle and Jack Russell Terrier

mix. Animal Control picked me up and saved me from a

life on the streets. Now I need you to save me and give me a life in a loving

home. I am current on vac-cinations, I’m neutered, I love to play toss with my cloth booda bone, I love

belly rubs and I know how to sit and lay down on com-mand. I’m a very loving boy who is looking for someone

to love. I’m eager to please, I’m very intelligent, I listen well and I’m good on a leash. If you would like to adopt an ani-

mal in need, I hope you will consider a fun little dude like me!

►Someone decided to name me Patch (A295587).

I guess it’s because I’m covered in patches of black fur. It’s really unique look-ing. My main focus in life right now is getting out of my cage and getting into your home. I’m a 2-year-old, neutered and vacci-

nated boy. I’m super loving and crave being held and rubbed. Head and neck

scratches are pretty awe-some, too. I’m playful yet cuddly and I’m everything you could want in a feline friend. Please come adopt me and I’ll spend the rest of my life showing my appreciation.

◄My owner surrendered me to the shelter. I was sad for awhile but now I know it was meant to be because now I

have the chance to love you. Hi, I’m Abby (A297124) and I’m a 1-year-old Hound mix

who is vaccinated and spayed. I love belly rubs, I’m very sweet and I’m curious

about the world (and smells) around me. Lavishing you with adoration is what I’m

best at and I promise you’ll feel loved when you’re

around me. I know how to sit on command, I’m eager to please, I love playing with toys, I

like going for walks and cuddling by the TV. Adopt me!

►My name is Jonathan (A295584) and I’m home-

less through no fault of my own. The human child in my home was allergic to me so I was

surrendered to the shelter with hopes of having a second chance with a

new family. I’m 5-years-old, I enjoy being rubbed, I like being near you and I really like kitty treats! I’ve already been neutered, I’m current on vaccina-

tions, I’m litter-trained, I’m good with children and dogs and I lived as an inside-only cat. Please give me the chance to make you

feel loved! Sandpaper kiss provided at no extra cost.

◄I’m homeless through no fault of my own. My name is Cinnamon (A295237) and I’m a 1-year-old Tortie who is spayed and vaccinated. I’m a sweet girl who loves being held. I’m social, I enjoy playing with toys and exploring, I’m good with kids and other cats and I want nothing more than to snuggle up to you. Inside only homes need apply. Purrrr.

Kittens, Kit-tens, Kittens! We three pre-cious babies are waiting to meet you and

melt your heart! Our names are

Marshmallow, Pumpkin

(Tabby girls), and Boo

(Tortoiseshell girl) and we are simply

darling. At just 8-weeks-old,

we were found in a neighbor’s yard and have been enjoying our time spent in a loving foster home. We recently went to the vet’s office where we received a clean bill of health

and our first kitten shots. We will be spayed and neu-tered prior to our adoption. We love to skip around the

room, play-wrestle, nap together and cuddle and kiss with humans! We are completely litterbox-trained, too. You

simply must come meet us and choose the one you’d like to take home. You’ll be so happy you did! Call

910-791-3800 for adoption information.

We are sponsored by Joseph Zell & Company. Thank you!

You’ll never believe this, but I was thrown out of a

pickup truck by peo-ple who then actually

tried to hit me! I guess that was their way of saying they

didn’t want me. You would think that I

would never want to get in a car again.

But, when I had the chance, I just

hopped right into my rescuer’s front seat. Even though I was treated badly, I still

am happy and full of joy. After all, I

wound up at Paw’s Place where every-one loves me. My

name is Roscoe and I’m a Bassett Hound mix. We guess that I’m about 1½-years-old. Yes, I am a big boy, even

though I am low to the ground. I am gentle, house-trained and I get along with others. I am also heartworm positive

but, don’t worry, Paw’s Place will treat me. I sure would like the chance to see what it would be like to have a family that truly loves me the way I love them. To meet me in person, simply drop by Paw’s Place any day from 9 – Noon. You

can also call the shelter at 910-845-7297.

I am sponsored by Grace Harrington. Thank you!

▲I’m a 6-month-old orange Tabby kitten boy who is new at the shelter. I’m growing accustomed to life here and I’m

showing everyone how sweet I am with my purring nature and my fondness for being rubbed. I was found as a stray and am

used to an indoor/outdoor lifestyle. I’ll be a friendly, loving companion to the person or family who adopts me - hurry!

►I’m just an all-around great girl and here’s

why: I like other dogs, I like playing in the wa-ter, I love going for car

rides, I’m house-trained and I’ve even taken

some training classes! That’s my ‘sit’ pose in

my photo. Now that you’ve read all that great stuff, when are you com-

ing? I’ve got lots of hugs and kisses to lay

on you! My name is Lola - ask for me!

◄Do you have a loving heart and a compassionate nature? Then you might be just who I’m looking for! My name is Dusty and I’m an 11-year-old girl who lost my family when they moved away. I’m a sweet feline who gets along great with kids (I lived with a toddler.) I’m okay with dogs and am litterbox-trained, up to date on shots and spayed. At my age, I deserve to be living comfortably at home!

◄Hello! My name is Rocco and I’m a little boy, just 2-years-old. I once had a home but the other cat didn’t take a liking to me. It’s odd, because I get along great with other felines! In my photo, I’m relaxing in my kitty condo. Since I’m used to living indoors, I’ll be happy to do this at your house! I’m a very friendly and loving lap cat who is ready to make you feel adored. All you have to do is adopt me!

►I was featured last month with my brother. He’s been adopted and

now I’m here without my best friend! Still, I’m

making the best of things and have developed a

close friendship with Rocco, pictured at top. If you have a kitty, I’m sure I’d form a bond with him or her, too! Or I can be

your only cat - I just need a home! I’m a 6-month-

old boy that you can name after my adoption!

Hello, named after my white paws --

Sox, I have been a resident at C.A.R.E. for awhile because

I had some sei-zures. I also had an injury to my tail so it's very short

now. I am such a good kitty that I

take my medication with ease every day

and have had no further episodes of seizures. I am 6-

years-old and I love to snuggle anytime! If you are someone

in need of snug-gles, then please

see the application and the required

specifications before applying at carewilmington.org. If you have any questions, please call 910-256-2624.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who sup-

ports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).

My name is Truffles (A068413) and I'm a 4-month-old female

Pitbull/Chihuahua mix. I may be young but I'm pretty sure I've got this whole life thing figured out: eat, play, love - it's so simple! I'm search-ing for a family to call

my own but in the meantime, I'm also

searching for a GUARDIAN ANGEL to help me with my cherry

eye. I would be so very grateful if some kind folks would step forward and help pay

for my surgery to have it fixed...is there anyone willing to be my angel? Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 92, Supply, NC 28469. Please make sure to note that it’s for ’Truffles’

Surgery’. For more information, call Brunswick County Sheriff’s Animal Protective Services at 910-754-8204.

◄I am so happy that a Paw’s Place volun-

teer found me and named me Belle. I don’t know how

much longer I could have survived on my own. I was starving. Since my arrival, I have had a total

check up. We think I’m 3-years-old.

I should weigh about 50 pounds, but I don’t yet. I’m heart-worm positive, but I’ve already begun treatment. In spite

of all that I’ve been through, I haven’t stopped wagging my tail since I got here. I love to run and would enjoy being

with an active family. Come meet me!

◄I'm a sweet dog - that's probably why

they named me Valentine. Perhaps you've seen this pic-

ture of me on the Pawsmobile. It's one of my favorite photos. I'm a Hound mix girl, about 3-years-old, up to date on shots and heartworm free. I get along with most dogs,

so if you already have a four-legged family member, I’d love the chance to see how we would do together. I

would also love to have a valentine to call my very own - is that you - or do you think you know someone?

▲It’s me – Marco! I’m about 5-years-old, neutered and about 70 pounds. I’m a house-trained, good-natured boy who loves people and already knows

basic commands. I’m a fast learner and would love to have you teach me new things. If I have one flaw, it

would be that sometimes I like to be top banana around other dogs. I do have heartworms, but Paw’s Place is taking care of that and I’ve already started

treatment. Please come visit me at the shelter. I know I will leave paw prints on your heart!

◄My name is Millie and I’ve been labeled

a “special needs” pup. I think it’s be-

cause I don't hear so well and I have a de-formed rear foot. But it’s no big deal, be-

cause neither one of them stops me from

being a loving pooch, walking on a

leash and playing (just not on hard surfaces). They think I’m a Bulldog/Boxer mix and just under 2-years of age. I’m spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and weigh about 40 pounds. I just know my special someone is out there!

◄Hi! My name is Wesley. I realize I look kind of seri-ous, but I am really quite shy. My childhood was very tough - I came to

Paws Place when authori-ties rescued many of us

dogs from a hoarding situa-tion. We know I'm not good with children. Please don’t hold that against me – it is because of the way I was

raised. I sure would love to have a home with another

small(ish) dog. I'm a Corgi/Jack Russell mix, approxi-mately 2½-years-old and 20 pounds. Do you think

there is someone out there that would give me a chance at real love? Please share.

◄My name is Holly and I’m a female hound mix who weighs about 55 pounds. This Christ-mas it will be two years since

my arrival. Don't get me wrong - I love it here - what's not to love. I have a warm place to

sleep, I'm fed two times a day, I even get special goodies now and then and people come to

visit and I get to play with LOTS of dogs...but I've seen other dogs come and go to a

place called a "forever home." I sure would like to find out what one of them is like. I tend to be shy when people

come by my kennel. I need someone who will be patient with me and shower me with love. I will be their best friend ever. Please share my story and help me find MY home!

Page 22: PawPrints Magazine December 2013

My name is Rosie and I am an 11-year-old Lab mix who has been waiting a long time for a

home of my own. There is nothing that would thrill me

more than to be in my forever home for Christmas. I am very gentle and just want to hang out with you and go for easy walks.

I am completely vetted, spayed and on heartworm pre-vention. I am such a gentle girl. Please, please, please if you or someone you know is looking for a loving companion won't

you please call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839. Visit us on the web at raceshelter.org and like us

I was runnin’ the streets when some

nice people offered to let me stay at their

place. They named me Buddy. I think I’m a mutt, but look at me -

so handsome! Not many pups can boast these cool, distinctive

bat-like ears. Wait until you see me in

person. Your face will light up! I’ve been

neutered and have all my shots. The vet

says I’m healthy, 1 to 2-years-old, 49 pounds and heartworm negative. I’m sweet, very gentle, and mellow. I just want to hang out with good folks - kids included. I get along well with other dogs and

have already made friends with the neighbor’s boy dog. My housemate, a spayed female, and I play ‘til our heart’s con-tent. I don’t seem to mind cats – the foster folks have one. I like my crate, I sit on command and take treats with a nice soft mouth. I’m working hard with my foster folks on leash walking and I’m getting better at it. I’m already expert at staying right around my foster folks off leash, and I come when they call me. Haven’t had any accidents indoors. Riding in the car suits me fine. Please make me your

Buddy in a furever home where I can snuggle up at will. Contact Onslow County Partners for Animal Welfare by

Chihuahua/Terrier mix. I’m a tiny little girl with a

huge heart! I love people and I’m a great little cuddle bug. I love to run and play. I look like a little deer

romping through my fenced yard,

yet I will settle into the lap of an eld-erly person with no problem at

all. I am house-trained, heart-

worm negative, spayed and ready for placement. I

◄Hi there! I’m a blue merle puppy boy named Bugsie (A010402). At just 7-months-old, I love to play and enjoy life so it would be great if I had family members who would take me for walks or running. Trips to the dog park or beach would be welcome, too! I was found as a stray with an embedded collar but it’s all healed. Won’t you give me a new life?

◄I’m a well-trained St. Bernard mix boy and my name is Rudy (A010687)! Just look how handsome I am! I sat on command and smiled for my photo effortlessly. I’m a happy, friendly boy who is house-trained, leash-trained, neu-tered, and just 5-years of age. I’m looking for a loving home with older kids or just adults. I’ll be micro-chipped before leav-ing the shelter, too! Come get the best friend you’ll ever have.

All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for

fleas/ticks prior to adoption. Microchipping is also available for just $15!

◄If you have always loved Border Collies (and we’re some of the smartest dogs around), I hope you’ll hurry on out to the shelter and adopt me! My name is Sailor (A010481) and I’m a 1-year-old boy who is quite bewildered by being at the kennels. I’m a family mem-ber, not a shelter dog! I sit on command, play with other dogs and am friendly and sweet to all I meet. Do yourself a huge favor and come meet me!

►Hello! My name is Mr. Chubby Cheeks

(A010428). I weigh 13 pounds, three of which

might just be in my cheeks! Seriously, I’ve

got a face that everyone loves to cuddle and

squeeze. I adore getting the attention and am as

friendly as they come...so hug and squeeze away! I

was found as a stray, but I purr when held and will be a fantastic addition to any-

one’s home. Adopt me!

◄I’m the kind of friendly kitty that anyone can pick up and cuddle, no problem! My name is Miss Fifi (A010301) and I’m a gorgeous long-haired Tortoiseshell girl. I was found as a stray, but I must have once been part of a family as I’m used to being around people and enjoy being held. They tell me I’m just 2-years-old, so I have a long life ahead making you very happy! Hop in the car and let me be your girl!

►I’m a sweet young girl, less than a year

old, who yearns to be part of a family.

Imagine how you’d feel if you sat in a cage for four long

months. You’d be so grateful and feel very

loving toward the per-son who got you out,

right? Well, that’s how I’d be with you!

My name is Princess (A009891) and I’m an

affectionate girl who loves to be held.

Come rescue me and take me to my long-

awaited castle.

I’ve Been At The Shelter Since August 2013!

◄I’m a loving and friendly Calico girl named Pieces! I hope my new family or person is read-ing this. You see, I was abandoned by my owner in a carrier and no one can understand why. I’m social, super-affectionate, a purring machine and I get along great with other cats! Someone obviously treated me well and now you can benefit from it by adopting me and taking me home. I would love to be a companion again. It’s what I was made for.

◄I’m Jellybean, a young Calico girl who has become a favorite around here! Wonder why? Well, it’s because I have such a winning personality. I love to be petted, am relaxed and laid-back, and I give lots of love to the hu-mans around me. My former owners were heartbroken when they had to leave me behind due to a move. Make this your best year yet by adopting me!

◄Ciao! I am Mario, and I’m the sweetheart you’ve been looking for. In fact, I can’t understand why I’ve been at the shelter for so

long! Surely someone would have noticed my handsome good looks, friendly personality and loving nature by now! I will snuggle like a baby in your arms, and I’m

already neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-

trained. I’m also a youngster at 2-years-old.

I get along with other cats, but would be happiest as the only feline. Let’s go!

◄Don’t I have the cutest face? I can’t understand why I’m homeless. My name is Wally and I’m a Boxer mix boy. I am a friendly fellow who loves going for walks around the shelter. I weigh 50 pounds and they tell me I’m about 2-years-old. I’m also neutered, vaccinated and ready to go home. I just love being with people and receiving attention. Come meet me in person, please!

►It’s quite a mystery how a wonderful boy like me ended up wandering alone on the side of Route 40. Luckily,

someone stopped and got me help! Now

I’m waiting for a loving family to come along and

give my story a happy ending. My name is Rex and I’m a Black Lab mix who is approximately 4 to 5-years old. The

shelter got me neutered and vaccinated and I’m also on heart-worm prevention. Come on over and let’s get acquainted!

►To look at me, you’d never guess that I’m

8-years-old! I’m a tiny girl named Sabrina

and I’m sad to say that I’ve been returned to

the shelter after being part of a loving family for years. My senior

citizen Mom had to move and couldn’t take me with her. I’m a very sweet and affectionate girl who is hoping that I

won’t have to stay at the shelter for much

longer. Won’t you please adopt me?

My Adoption Fee has already been paid!

My name is Clifford and I know I am not a Poodle, but the Poodles saved me. Besides, I'm a Border Collie mix so I

am smarter than they are anyway. I was just a year old the end of April. I am a very friendly boy and love to play fetch

with a tennis ball. I'm also learning to play catch with a Frisbee. I would like to find a forever home with another dog and/or person for me to play with to teach me lots of new tricks. I am a very busy boy! While I live indoors, I

would like to have a fenced area that I can run and play in. I am crate-trained, house-trained and walk very well on a leash. I have a very interesting history and story to tell.

If you go to the Carolina Poodle Rescue website at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org, look at my profile under the

available dogs and you can read all about me and see a video! I am truly a movie star! So go to our website or call

My name is Luxi and I am a 2-year-old female Pitbull. My old humans

didn't take care of me and some nice people with

badges came to save me. I went to this place called a shelter where I met a

nice lady who promised to help me. She came to get

me one day and since then, my life has been

awesome. I get to live in a house where it’s warm, and I even have friends to play with. I love playing with other dogs, and I even get along with cats. Even though I am a big girl, I

love to cuddle and would be more than happy to cuddle on the couch or in bed with you. I am really smart, am house and crate-trained, and know basic commands. I love to go for rides and take trips to the dog park. I am vaccinated,

spayed, microchipped and tested heartworm negative. All I need now is a family to call my own. If you think you can be the family for me, contact my rescue at 252-531-0744

Onslow County Animal Services Home for the Holidays Adoption Event Onslow County Animal Services is hosting its annual “Home for the Holidays” Pet Adoption Event Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 10am to 4pm at the shelter lo-cated at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville. Residents are invited to join in the fun and adopt a pet to brighten up their holiday. The event will feature vendors, and Santa Claus will also be on hand to take photographs with guests and their current and/or newly adopted pets to celebrate the holiday season, cost is $8. In addition, Onslow County Animal Services will also be conducting a volunteer orientation. Bringing a new furry family member into the home around the holidays may not be the right choice for every household when families are busy and often times travel-ing. “If the recipient of your proposed furry gift is not quite ready for the commitment involved with the lifetime care of a pet,” says Alan Davis, director, of Onslow County Animal Services, “instead of a puppy or kitten among the presents, consider giving the gift of adoption. Many shel-ters, including Onslow County, offer adoption gift certifi-cates so the recipient can be actively involved in choosing the perfect pet who will share their home for years to come.” Postponing a "gift adoption" until after the holi-days have subsided is often better, both for the animal and for his or her new family. Pet Adoption Gift certificates are available from Onslow County Animal Services at a discount rate of $100.00 for a pet adoption. Each adoption includes a spay/neuter voucher, rabies vaccination and DHLPP vaccination. For additional information contact Onslow County Ani-mal Services at 910-455-0182 or visit the website at www.onslowcountync.gov/animalservices. My name is Scarlett and I’m a precious, medium-sized female Bos-ton Terrier mix. I

came to the rescue as a stray pup. I

am 11-months-old, weigh 22 pounds

and have an ador-able long tail to match my pretty face. I am crate-

trained and sleep in my crate at night. I’m leash-trained, have nearly com-

pleted house-training, and know

commands such as, "sit", "stay", "outside" and "kennel." I am a very happy pup, and enjoy play of any kind, including interacting with other dogs, fetch, tug, and playing toys. I also love giving kisses, chewing on bones, going on car rides, and snuggling with my humans. In fact, my foster mother reports that I am the happiest pup she has ever

seen. Once I’m finished cuddling, playing tug-of-war, and rough-housing with my humans, expect a face wash from all

the kisses I love to share! If you are interested in adding my loveable self to your family, please contact Boston

Terrier Rescue Team of the Carolinas by emailing [email protected] or calling 828-778-2045.

I am sponsored in honor of those who volunteer their

time at animal shelters.

My name is Lena Horne, because they say I am beautiful. My story is a little sad. I had a home and even wore a col-lar. Then I found myself at Animal Control with my five little babies. A nice lady from Adopt An Angel rescued me and took me to a foster home where I was an excellent mother,

but a week later I got very sick. The doctor said it was something called distemper. Four of my babies died, but one little boy survived and got well. I took very good care of him until he was big enough to go to his forever home. Since then I have spent time at various pet stores but no one realized what a nice cat I am. Now I'm back in my

foster home but the resident cats don't like me. I need my own home. I am very sweet and love all people, including

children. I am 1 to 2-years-old, have been spayed and had all my shots. If you would like a beautiful, affectionate

companion, call my foster mom at 910-278-4437.

I am sponsored by Blue Heaven in Key West. Thanks!

mix. I am quiet, gentle, house-trained and

crate-trained. My tail wags incessantly when I hear a familiar voice.

I am up to date on vaccines, neutered,

microchipped and heart-worm negative. I am a beautiful dog with strik-ing markings and will

make someone a won-derful companion. I love my people and am learning to

have more self-confidence around other dogs.

◄Hi, my name is Rusty! I’m a

2-year-old boy who appears to be a Jack Russell/Hound mix. I am very sweet. I’m also friendly to my

canine buddies and I love my people! I am somewhat shy, but my friends tell me obedi-ence training will in-

crease my self-confidence. I weigh

around 45 pounds, am up to date on shots and I’m crate-training and house-training well. Let’s get together!

◄Wheee, wanna play with me? My name is Lola and I’m a 6-year-old

loving gal and I generally get along

well with docile male dogs. I love to run and play in

the yard and snug-gle inside with my

humans. I am house-trained,

crate-trained, up to date on vaccines

and on heartworm prevention. I do take glucosamine but, as you can see, I get around just fine! When you adopt me, I will come

to you with a microchip. Let’s go home!

◄I’m Kent, a 21-month-old Black Lab/Bull Dog mix who was found as a stray. I’m a favorite among the humans who know me and I also received rave reviews at two vet offices. think that song was be-fore my time! Yes, I am a more mature dog, but that is what makes me extra special. There

really is an advantage to adopting an older dog. You see, I was born

here at Paw’s Place. I was hand fed by volun-teers, and I grew accus-tomed to being around people and being very loving and affectionate. I’m a Blue Tick Hound mix and I weigh about 65 pounds. Yes, I’m a

big girl, but I’m also a love bug. To have my very own fam-ily that I wouldn't have to share with all of the other dogs is a dream of mine. Happy Howl-idays! My name is Lulu and I was found wan-dering in Carteret County as a stray. I was very emaciated.

Luckily, a kind woman brought me in and now I’m living happily in a foster home. I am up to date on vaccinations, have undergone heartworm treatment, and am scheduled

to be spayed on December 2. I appear to be an 8-year-old Basset mix who is house-trained and a big people-lover. I currently live with a toddler under the age of 5. Also, I live with two dogs, but would probably do best as the only dog. Would you consider making my Christmas wish come true by providing me a forever home? For more info, contact

Kim with the Cape Fear Rescue League at 910-471-5035.

I am sponsored in memory of Miss Avis Davis.

My name is Marley and I share some

striking similari-ties to the yel-low Lab Marley from the movie Marley & Me. I am full of per-sonality and

quite mischie-vous. I like to play, play, play and play some

more. I am more like a dog

than a cat. I follow you

around and want to be all up in your business. If you want a kitty who

just might be annoyingly affectionate then you need to come get me. If you would like to know more information about me or would like to inquire about the adoption proc-

My name is Autumn and I am 9-months-old, super loveable and friendly. At the vet’s office, I wagged

my tail the whole time they drew blood for my heart-

just about chopped them all off! However, my personal-ity far overshadows this one

blemish. I am great with other animals, but could play too roughly for a cat. I would do well with kids, too. Since I am a Pitbull, I

don’t want to fall into the wrong hands so a home visit is required. To adopt me, please call 910-392-0557.

Hi, my name is Adam and I am a 25 pound, 1-year-old

Border Collie and Hound Mix. You will never find a sweeter, calmer, loving guy than me. I love car rides, people of all ages, and all dogs and cats. I am house-trained, I sleep in my crate at night and never fuss. My foster mom says I am the best little dog ever. I am neutered and fully vetted, so if you are looking for that perfect baby, I am the one!

Let me end my story with a little humor. "Yappy Holidays and a Hairy New Year!" Please call

R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839 or visit us on the web at raceshelter.org. Like us on Facebook.

Hi y'all, I’m Allison and I am a gorgeous 2 to 3-

year-old flame point Sia-mese with big blue eyes

and soft silky fur with orange ears and tail. I

seriously cannot believe that I have not been

adopted yet because I am such a loving, affec-tionate girl. I know adult cats are harder to place but I am the complete package and I am past

the naughty stage. Please come by Wags and Whiskers pet store or call

R.A.C.E at 910-547-2839 to see me. You may also visit us online at raceshelter.org. Like us on Facebook.

I'm Baby, a very sweet Pit and Bulldog mix. I'm about a year

old and weigh 45 pounds. I’m already spayed and am cur-rent on vaccinations.

When I was rescued, I had a lot of hair loss.

They think I have aller-gies and it's being controlled with a special diet and

some medicine. I don't let my allergies slow me down. I'm a happy, energetic puppy and I love to explore. I get along great with the other dogs and

cats at my foster home and everyone who meets me thinks I'm special. I love to play but I'm also pretty

good at snuggling on the couch. For more informa-tion about me, call 910-271-3101.

PENDER PERFECT PETS

Hi, my name is Scully. I am a 3-year-old, mini Pit Bull girl. I was found on the side of the road almost dead from star-

vation, but here I am today at a healthy 40 pounds. I have a few deformities, like turned-out legs, from lack of food in my previous life but it doesn't stop me from doing normal dog things. I have been so

neglected my whole life, however, that I do have a

fear of other animals. I need to be the only pet and I need someone who understands that I need some training for my fear. Pender Perfect Pets will provide the training so that I can be the best dog I can be. I will tell you, though, that I LOVE PEOPLE. I am a people-pleaser and I will be

the most loyal dog. Please call 910-538-0106.

CAPE FEAR RESCUE LEAGUE

I’m Bam Bam, a 5 to 6-year-old, 25 pound, Dachshund

Beagle mix. My human daddy died about 2-months ago and left me and my little brother. My brother got adopted and

I'm still praying that someone will adopt me. I’m vaccinated, heartworm negative, neutered, house and crate-trained and

I'm in a foster home with other doggies and cats. I have a lot

of energy and would like to have a fenced yard to run and play in and maybe another dog or some children. I love to play with my squeaky toys

and chew bones, so plenty of those for me, please. To adopt me, please call my foster mom at 910-207-2071.

My name is Mama Mia. I was rescued just in time as I was

pregnant and in need of a foster home. Topcat took me in and I had my babies and was a great

Mom. They have all been adopted and now I am ready for my forever inside home. I am

spayed and up to date on all my vaccinations. I am a dilute Torti and I am about a year and half

old. I like to play and am friendly. I don't mind other cats. All I need

is food, water, toys and lots of love. Won't you give me a chance please? You won't be sorry. To find out more, please email [email protected] or call 910-200-0612.

the shelter vet who checked me out). I take commands and follow them well and I’m house-trained! I get along with other animals and I’m good with children.

Furthermore, I’m not a wanderer and will be spayed upon adoption. Hopefully, someone will see my fantastic virtues and come adopt me. You’ll never regret your decision to

give me a second chance at life and I’ll make your life won-derfully happy! To adopt me, call 910-455-0182. The shel-

ter is located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville.

at the vet hospital and don’t want to let me go, but I know

I’ll make someone a really great pet. I’ve been neutered, microchipped and am all up to date on my shots. Better apply for me early as I know there will be lots of folks out there who will want to adopt

Hi, my name is Sadie and I am a 3-year-old blue Pit Bull girl. I was found in a bad part of

town with a huge chain wrapped around my neck. Thankfully

for me, some nice people came along

and rescued me off of the side of the road

and got in touch with Pender Perfect Pets to

help me out. I am a very sweet girl. I am

very calm and mellow. I am house-trained and crate-trained. I also get along with

other doggies. I am anxious to be in my

furever home. Please, will you consider adopting me? Call my rescue about me

today at 910-538-0106. I’ll see you soon!!!

I am sponsored in celebration of the One-Year Anniversary of Spike and Lucy’s adoption.

Hi, my name is Caine and I am an 11-year-old American Bull-dog. Please

don't stop read-ing this be-cause of my

age - I have a story to tell

you! You see, my daddy who

has had me since I was a

baby was diag-nosed with

cancer a few months ago

and he had to go live with his daughter. Unfortunately, I have never grown up with any other pets so sharing a

home with them was just not ideal for me. My dad’s daugh-ter has cats therefore I couldn't go with my daddy. Thank-

fully, after hearing my story, Pender Perfect Pets took me in to foster care. My foster mommy describes me as a pure

and beautiful gem and a gentle soul. I absolutely love peo-ple and all I want to do is be by someone’s side. I am com-

pletely house-trained and I don't even have to go into a crate when you’re not home. I know I am a little bit older, but I promise my loyalty, playfulness and spirit will make

you forget all about my age. After all, age is just a number! Please, will you call my foster mommy about me at

910-538-0106? She says that I would make someone the most wonderful companion and that people have no idea what they are missing by not adopting me. I really hope you will call about me soon. I'm ready to spend the rest

of my life by your side. Love, Caine

I am sponsored in honor of Shelley, Prince Charming and Miss Ivy.

When will it ever be my turn to be adopted?? I am Pluto and I am way too

awesome to still be

up for adoption. You see, I am a 5-year-old

doggie mix who re-

cently lost my home due to my mommy having

some severe medical issues. I really am sad to lose my home but I'm trying to stay positive. I know somewhere out there is someone who really wants a dog like me. I am a very sweet boy who will cuddle with you all day. I

am so smart that I actually alerted my mommy before she had a medical problem! I have been a great therapy dog to my mommy's special needs daughter and I get along with doggies and kitties! I am crate-trained and com-

pletely house-trained. I would make you very happy if you would give me a chance. Please, call my rescue at

910-538-0106. Hurry, I'm waiting!

I am sponsored in memory of Angel and Little Boy.

SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE

Are you getting ready for yet an-other boring holiday season?

Staring across the table at rela-tives you may or may not even want there? Then it is time to spice things up a little bit this year. Nothing can inject new

energy into a stale holiday gath-ering quite like the addition of a

genuine, foot tall, life of the party, Basset Hound! Are you tired of picking up all the crumbs

and dropped food on the floor after your less than tidy guests? Fret no more! My name is Buster and I’m an expert crumb eater. To adopt me, call 919-708-4247 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com. Also, we are always short on foster homes! If you have ever thought about

fostering, please contact CBHR for more details.

I’m Oscar (1521), a big boy with lots of love to give. I was turned in to a shel-ter when my child

companion became critically ill and the

family could no longer provide for me. I am a very

gentle Giant Schnauzer and this photo does not do me jus-tice! I am approximately 5-years-old, house-trained, crate-

trained, and I love people! I do well with other dogs but preferably should not be with cats. To adopt me, visit

www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org. There you can fill out an application or view other pets up for adoption. If you

need an application mailed or faxed, call 781-799-4272.

COASTAL CAROLINA BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE

I’m Socks and I must say I’m one of the handsomest Boston Terriers around. I’m happy to

go on a drive, or escort you on a long walk and then spend time snuggling with you and maybe

even serenade you with a song. I would love to spend the days playing tug of war, fetch and

splash the warms days away in the pool. I don’t mind sharing your time with other dogs but I do take my time in getting to

know them. If I’m the only dog in your life, I’m happy with that, too. Can I be your new companion? For more info, please contact CCBTR at [email protected] or call 252-633-0987.

Visit us online at www.ccbtr.org.

SHAR-PEI RESCUE OF VIRGINIA

I'm Bogey, a sweet, young male Shar-Pei. I'm a friendly, energetic boy and love to play

ball. I really like snuggling, too. I'll cuddle right up with you if you let me! I am also crate-trained, do well with

baths, and am good at the vet. I am friendly with everyone

and other dogs. I would love a home that has kids, other

dogs, or active adults to play with because I love to have fun with anyone or anything. My Foster mom says that I am a sweetheart and that I am one of the sweetest dogs

she has ever met! To learn more about me, see more pic-tures, or fill out an application, please check out my profile at www.sharpeirescueofva.org. You can also call 609-494-0020 or email [email protected] for more info.

GREAT DANE RESCUE ALLIANCE

My name is Isabelle and I'm a wonderful

girl who is 3 to 4-years-old. I was heartworm positive, but I recently had

my first treatment. I will also be receiv-ing eye surgery in both eyes and be

spayed. My foster family says I'm a true love. I'm currently living with another female Dane and doing well. My picture was taken by the wonderful folks at Ravenscry Photogra-

phy. I'll be available for adoption once my heartworm treat-ment and surgeries are done. To adopt me, please email

[email protected] or call 704-559-4121.

ECHO DOGS - White German Shepherd Rescue

I am Ollie, an all-around GRRReat gentleman. I am a loving and set-tled boy and I get along with every-one. They say I am reaching my

golden years, but I do not show my age. I still enjoy playing and get along fine with other dogs with a similar energy level. I even enjoy

the company of kitties. I have very good manners, I am house-trained, I’m not at all destructive, and I pre-

fer the security and safety of my crate. I am looking for a furever family who will let me enjoy my senior years in a

low-stress environment. I do not think I would do well with high-energy dogs (or kids). To learn more about me,

contact Lori at 910-431-6294 or visit www.echodogs.org.

My name is Tessie, but my best friends call

me Boots (I guess because

of my white feet)! When I was rescued, I found out I had heartworms. I

will be re-tested soon – and if all goes well, I will be free of those

horrible things. Here at Paw’s Place I get lots of attention from everyone. I really love people and I’m the perfect size

(about 35 pounds) - not too big and not too little! A girl should never tell her age, but I’ll tell you – I’m just under 2-years-old. I am energetic and like to run around so a

fenced-in yard where I could play with the family would be great. I still have some puppy in me, but would be the bestest girl if you gave me a chance. I wonder what it

would be like to live in a home with nice people that would take care of me – can we find out? Call Paw’s Place at

910-845-7297.

Hi everyone, it’s me, Dory. I am a 2-year-old Pit Bull mix. I have been

waiting for my furever home for soooo long now. It’s been almost

four months since I came into rescue with Pender Perfect Pets and I don't understand why it hasn't

been my turn to be adopted! I am such a

good girl. I go to the dog park often and make

many dog friends. I am crate-trained and house-trained. I am a people-

pleaser and will do what-ever I can to make you happy with me. I would be wonderful as a beach dog or running partner. Please,

will you call my rescue today? Come meet me and I assure you that you will LOVE me. Then I can be your furever fur

kid and you can be my dream come true! Please call 910-538-0106. See you soon!!
