FP7 - COBAPACK
Development of a new recyclable long life co-injected high barrier packaging for foodapplications, with broad design possibilities and reduced manufacturing costs
www.aimplas.es/proyectos/cobapack
OBJECTIVE:
• Reduction in production costs using cheaper inner material
• Developing the manufacture process in just one step (substituting co-extrusion + thermoforming by co-injection)
• Increasing products range
• Opening new markets for materials from renewable resources
• Increasing the amount of recycled commodity thermoplastics in the market
21
FP7 - CLIPP
STUDY OF RECYCLABILITY OF PAINTED, PRINTED, METALLIZED OR LAMINATED PLASTIC PARTS USING SUPERCRITICAL C02 AND NANOFILLERS
Objective:to promote a system which allows to use post-industrial wastes coming from scraps, and reels refused by manufacturers of plastic film for flexible packaging and injected packages.

FP7 – BIOBOARD
www.bioboard.eu
At present about 7 million tonnes of coated paper, paperboard and cardboard are manufactured worldwide annually.
Over 20 million tonnes of whey, a by-product from cheese making and about 65,000 tonnes of dried juice protein and 140,000 tonnes of dried potato pulp are by-productsfrom starch production.

FP7 – METALMORPHOSIS
Advantages of Recycling
Energy savings:Iron and Steel: requires 74% less energy. 2/3rds of steel is recycled.Non-Ferrous Metals: 96% less energy, 60% of metals rom scrap.Paper: 36% less energyPlastic: 80% less energy, only 17% is currently recovered.
Environmental Advantages:Less pollutionReduced greenhouse gas emissionsConserves natural resources wood, water, and minerals. With a recycling rate of 30%, we save about 256 billion barrels of crude oil, theequivalent of 22 million cars per year.
Economic Advantages:Dramatic energy savingsJob creation: 1.1 million U.S. payroll of $37 billion. Supports vital industries: paper and steel, plastics converters. Saves money: selling recycled materials, towns reduce the use of fuels.
