The barangay covers 5,021 hectares, but the Mineral Production Sharing Agreement occupy 4,877 hectares. This means that nearly 90% of the barangay is probably targeted for mining operations.
Ninety eight percent (98%) of the income of the
barangay comes from its share from the national wealth. The rest are from local incomes like taxes and contributions.
*Utilization of Share from the National Wealth
The share from national wealth heavily supported the infrastructure development of the barangay.

WAY FORWARD STRATEGIES
Core Issues/ Concerns: Fifty four percent (54%) of the households have somebody employed. Two hundred eleven (211) households or 31% have monthly estimated income of 5,000 pesos and below. About 112 households or 15% have monthly income of 15,000 pesos and above. Despite the employment with the mining companies in the area, 30% of the households live below the poverty threshold. Primary production (agriculture and fishing) in the host communities have been left out. In Taganito, agriculture is reduced to home gardening and fishing is practically gone in the coastal villages. Some coastal rice fields and coco land were converted into mine tailing ponds.
WAY FORWARD STRATEGIES Proposition/ Direction: At the LGU level: Optimizing the transient benefits by diversifying on productive enterprises. Protection management (planning and management) of strategic sites for sustainability like water reservoir, cultural heritage areas, primary production areas. Capacitation on ‘Climate Proofing the AIP (PPAs)’. For instance, the disaster risk reduction approaches should be climate proofed, requiring special skills in planning and management. The PPAs in the AIP being the ‘implementable for the year’ must be climate proofed.
