or put our trust in the Lor. We cannot o both. We cnnot ully trust in Go n trust in

ourselves t the sme time. We must choose one or the other.

For Christins, Hebrews 2:13 tells us tht there is

only one correct nswer. We must unconitionlly trustin the Lor n Him lone. He is the only One who hs

ll the nswers to lie. He is the only One who knows ll

the intricte plns He hs or our iniviul lives. An

He is the only One who cn control wht comes in n out o our lives.

rusting God means cleaving to Him with unreserved confdence no matter how we eel,

what we see or what we understand; being ully persuaded that what He has promised, He will 

 perorm in His timing and in His way. (Romns 4:20)

By experience, most o us hve lerne tht Go’s wys re oten r beyon our humn

unerstning. Tus, i we re to wlk with Him, love Him n experience His Lie through

us, we must unreservely cling to the ssurnce tht whtever He llows in our lives is or  

purpose. Being able to trust Him, rely upon Him and have confdence in Him in these times is

ing Go is simply knowing n being 

bsolutely ssure tht He will do all 

He promises. Remember the enitiono persevernce—the certainty that what we are looking or, will happen. rusting Go is the

bsis o tht persevernce.

 As we lerne lst month, trust incorportes mny things, rom knowing wht His

 will is to wlking it out. An, o course, it incorportes the whole process in between. Te

more we unerstn wht trust relly is, the more we’ll be ble to conently wlk out His

 will. Like mny other principles in the Christin lie, trust oesn’t just hppen; it’s a learned 

experience. Simply saying “Tough He sly me, yet will I trust Him” is r ierent thn

ctully living out being slin n still trusting Him. rust begins with one aith choice t  

time. When we experience Go’s ithulness in the rst incient, well hve the conence

to mke the sme kin o choice in ll the rest.

Tere re eight principles tht mke up Go’s cycle of trust . Tese eight principles

(ech o which mkes up some orm or spect o trusting Him) will tke us rom “begin-

ning knowlege o Go” to “intimte knowlege o Him.” Tese re principles tht you

n I hve bntere roun or yers n thought we unerstoo. But perhps we’ll see or

the rst time how these terms re interrelte. Tey not only epen upon ech other butlso buil upon ech other. Consequently, unless we re “living” the rst principle, we’ll be

unble to go on to the next. An i we re not living tht one, the thir one will be out o 

our rech. An so on. All these principles re relte n must go in the orer Go hs li

them out. Agin, each defnes some aspect o trusting God.

God’s Cycle of Trust

1) First, we must know His bsic will. We must know wht He esires to o in our lives.

Romns 8:29 tells us He wnts to “conorm us into His imge.”

2) Next, we must know He unconitionlly loves us. We must know this not just in our hes

but in our everyy experience.3) As result o the bove two things, well be ble to trust Him enough to obey Him by ith,

not eelings. An, the wy we obey Him is:

4) Choosing to love Him—continully giving our selves over to Him. An,

5) Choosing to renew our Min—continully eling with our sin n sel. An,

6) Choosing to hve bsolute ith—continully wlking by ith, not eelings.

7) I we re oing the bove, we’ll hve the bility to see Him in ll things.

8) An, s result o ll o the bove, we’ll be ble to ptiently enure ll He llows.

In simpler terms, knowing His Love prouces our obedience, which brings bout His

presence n the bility to persevere through ny tril.

Tese re the principles tht mke up the Lor’s cycle o trust n leving ny one o 

them out puts hole in our bility to trust Him ully. So the bottom line is: we cn only 

lern the ruit o longsuering by living ll eight

o Go’s principles o trust, His cycle o trust.

I we ll own in ny o these steps o trust,chnces re we’ll eel like giving up, letting go

n turning bck. An, most likely, we’ll not

survive our crises without conusion n evs-

ttion.

Interestingly, this cycle o trust is chro-

nology o my own wlk with the Lor. First, I

lerne bout His Love n wht His will ws(especilly uring the erlier yers o our trouble mrrige). Ten, He proceee to tech

me wht He esire rom me (obeience): how to love Him, how to renew my min n

how to hve nke ith (through esperte circumstnces in my own lie). As result o p-

plying these principles to my lie, I begn to see Him s I never h beore. So, gin, His

Love in my lie prouce   willingness to obey Him in ll things, which resulte in my 

seeing Him n being ble to endure through hrsh n trgic circumstnces.

 Knowing His Love

 produces our obedience,which brings about His

 presence and the ability

to persevere through

any trial.
