HOPE Appeal 2018
Our parish campaign for the HOPE Appeal is under
way with returns of 243 pledges and donations of
$42, 432. Our parish goal is $54,202.All parishioners
are urged to participate to the level they are able as
the goal is really an assessment. The parish will have
to pay the difference between the goal and our
pledges and donations. Pledge envelopes should be
returned in the collection or by mail.

Continues this Weekend!
Volunteer sign-up continues this weekend. Pope John XXIII is asking
new and current volunteers to sign or re-sign up for the many
opportunities to share their talents. Updated volunteer booklets and sign
-up forms are available at all the exits. Please note that you may also
sign up online through our church website: www.popejohnchurch.org.

Father O’Brien
Fr. Zachary Miller has been appointed administrator of Christ
the King Parish effective August 1st. Fr. Miller was ordained in 2015 for
the Diocese of Syracuse and is currently serving as Associate Pastor at
Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. Next spring Pope John
XXIII and Christ the King parishes will link and Fr. Miller will become
pastor of both parishes. For a few weeks in August and September Fr.
Miller will reside at the rectory at Pope John XXIII. After some
renovations of the rectory at Christ the King he will move there until next
spring. Later in the fall and winter there will be numerous opportunities
for Fr. Miller to interact with the parish leadership of Pope John XXIII to
prepare for the linkage next spring. In the meantime we join in grateful
prayer for his appointment and pledge our cooperation during the months
of transition.

Safe Environment for Our Children
Did you know students from Pre-K to Grade 12 in our Catholic Schools
and Faith Formation programs receive Safe Environment training every
year as required by the diocesan Child and Youth Protection Policy?
Our Safe Environment training addresses each grade level with age
appropriate curriculum to help our children and youth with knowledge
that can help keep themselves safe while providing this instruction that is
fully consistent with the moral teachings of the Catholic Church. Last
year, over 16, 000 students received training throughout the diocese.
Men in Black
Vocations Softball Game
Please join priests and seminarians from the Diocese of Syracuse
as they take on a team from Holy Family Church, Syracuse at the
Annual Men in Black Vocations Softball Game, on Sunday, July
29th at Shove Park in Camillus! The game begins at 5:30 PM at
the ball field closest to Whedon Rd (just down the road from Holy
Family Church in Fairmount). This is a family friendly event - we
hope to see you there during the Special Year of the Family in the
Diocese of Syracuse.
