    PORT EQUIPMENTPORT EQUIPMENT

The term port equipment means mechanical and

other devices used for loading and unloadingpassengers and commodities from ship to shore

    and vice versa

It includes, fork lifts, tow motors, jitneys,

    straddle carriers, floating cranes, etc.

    NEED FOR PORTNEED FOR PORT

    EQUIPMENTSEQUIPMENTS

The fast and efficient transfer of cargo between ships andland-based modes of transport is the goal of portsthroughout the world.

Efficiency is the decisive factor when handling cargo atboth seaports and inland harbors.

Loading and unloading times have to be kept to aminimum

value for money is an important factor which makes portfacilities competitive on the international scene.

Port Equipment is the key to this success, with a range of

products that provides purpose planned answers for allkinds of cargo.

Latest technologies and top quality standards guaranteemaximum performance and equipment availability.

    CARGO HANDLING CRANESCARGO HANDLING CRANES

For the loading and unloading of vessels at the quayside,

    there are

    Container cranes,

    Harbor mobile cranes

    Fixed pedestal and rail-mounted cranes

Each of these are available in different sizes according to operating

task, size of vessel and type of freight

GANTRY CRANES (GC) Gantry Cranes (GC) are overhead

    structures with hoisting machines

mounted on a frame or structure.

The bridge for carrying the trolley or

trolleys is rigidly supported on two or

more legs running on fixed rails or other

runway. Gantry cranes are for any type of cargo,

such as timber, paper rolls, containers and

    any kind of bulk material.

These cranes come in all sizes, and some

which are extremely large for use inshipyards or industrial installations can

    move very heavy loads.

    MOBILEMOBILE HARBOR CRANESHARBOR CRANES

    (MHC(MHC))

obile Harbor Cranes (MHC) consist of a

traveling device with rubber-tired wheels for

traveling freely on harbor areas, outrigger

and the crane unit to load and unload cargo

    onto or from a ship.

Rubber-tired wheels are used when the

crane travels, and an outrigger is used to

support the crane unit during cargo handling

    operations.

Mobile harbor crane are very versatile sothey can be used to handle cargo in various

    ways.

The first ever Mobile Harbour Crane on the

market was launched by Gottwald in 1956.

RAILRAIL MOUNTED GANTRY CRANESMOUNTED GANTRY CRANES

(RMG(RMG)) Rail-mounted gantry crane (RMG) are

    specialized yard container handlingmachines.

An RMG travels on rails to lift and stack20 or 40 containers in the yard areausing a spreader (or twin-lift spreader if

needed). Rail mounted cranes come in a variety of

    models with different spans andoverhangs.

These cranes are specifically designedfor the intensive container stacking .

The RMG has the advantages of beingdriven by electrical power, clean, biggerlifting capacity, and high gantrytraveling speed with cargo.

When theres a need for high-speed container transport,

stacking cranes are available to demonstrate their technological

    lead.

With their precise handling, synchronized movements and high

speeds, they achieve a high load handling frequency at a

convincingly low cost per container movement.

Their high quality standard and ease of maintenance cut

standstill times to a minimum and boost profitability.

    STACKERS (CRS)

A reach stacker is one of the mostflexible handling solutions weather to

operate a small terminal or a medium

    sized port.

Reach stackers have gained ground in

    container handling in most markets

because of their flexibility and higher

    stacking and storage capacity when

    compared to lift trucks.

    Using reach stackers container blocks

can be kept 4-deep due to the second

row access. Aisles between containerblocks can also be kept narrower than

with lift trucks, thus improving space

    utilization.

    RANESRANES

Rail mounted stacking cranes (RMGs) are manufactured according toindividual customer needs and have kept pace with developments in

design and technology over the past two decades.

Special design features are also available, such as automation and

computerization of crane operations, data communication between

cranes PLC and Port Engineering Office Rail mounted stacking cranes come in a variety of models with spans

from 35 metres up to and exceeding 72 metres.

RUBBERRUBBER TYRED GANTRY CRANE (RTGTYRED GANTRY CRANE (RTG))

    Rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTG

) arethe specialized equipment for yard

    handling of standard containers.

They are the most common yard

    handling system with annual capacity

requirements up to millions of TEUs.

RTGs are an economical solution when

straddling multiple lanes of rail/roadand/or container storage, or when

    maximum storage density in the

    container stack is desired.

    STRADDLE CARRIERS

Straddle carriers are used in ports toremove cargo containers from

    delivering trucks or trains for

eventual loading to vessels, and to

    dispatch arriving containers to

receiving trucks or trains and for thestacking of containers in the yard.

    CRAWLER CRANESCRAWLER CRANES

Crawler cranes has wide range ofequipments which enables them to

    be converted rapidly and without

difficulty for either cargo or bulk

    material handling.

Low operating costs is another verysignificant advantage.

For harbor use, a special equipment

package is available to match the

    specific needs of loading and

    unloading from vessels at the

    quayside.

    HYDRAULI EX AVATORS

Wheeled and crawler excavators provides a high-performance solution for fast, efficient load

handling tasks at dockside. All these machines have a generous outreach and maximumworking height, due primarily to their outstanding stability.

An extensive range of undercarriages and the ideal equipment configuration make these

machines capable of performing any task likely to be encountered at the dockside.

Mobile excavators can be driven from one operating point to the next without delay

Crawler excavators are ideal for material handling if no intermediate movements are needed.

Quick, easy changeover between attachments speeds up the operating cycles.

    Various forms of increased cab height can be specified including a hydraulically elevated cab;

the well laid out controls and displays make concentrated work much easier and safer.

The hydraulic dockside excavators accurate controls help to avoid accidental damage to the

    vessel while loading or unloading.

LOADERS AND CRAWLERSLOADERS AND CRAWLERSWheel loaders are used in ports and harbors

for load transfer work, discharge of material

from vessels and for the loading of trucks and

    rail cars.

Hydrostatic travel gear delivers a smooth flow

    of power in every situation.

    C-AGVThe C-AGV offers several key

benefitsThe vehicle can carry cassettes with

    double-stacked 40-foot containers

or two 20-foot containers in a single

    tier.

    The C-AGV can be steered

    conventionally or crab diagonally,

    or it can move completely

    transversally.

New cassette designs enable the C-

AGV to enter and exit both

transversally and longitudinally, which allows decoupling at the

quayside that is the key to the

    system's cargo handling efficiency.
