We will report our numbers to National on monthly basis beginning in March for
2016. District Executives know where to report these numbers for data entry.
Total possible points: 3000 with an additional 100 bonus points available.
1650 points required to Achieve Gold.
The National Capital Area Council offers our districts opportunities to earn bonus
points in 2016, in areas that contribute to the future growth of Scouting (up to a
maximum of 100 total points).

1. District Exploring Membership - Achieve growth in Exploring membership on
December 31, 2016 as compared to December 31, 2015 and/or recruit an active
Exploring Membership Chairman. (25 points)
2. Cub Scout Recruitment - Register more new Cub Scouts in 2016 compared to 2015.

3. Endowment - Secure (1) new James E. West. (25 points)
4. District Goal - District Key 3 creates and meets criteria for own goal. (25 points)
Note: These will be added to a district’s total score at the end of January 2017, and
districts will need to submit their district results by December 31, 2016.

Friends of Scouting Highlights:
We have raised to date $567,206 (43.1% to goal) as districts and $1,003,236 (55%) as a council.
We have conducted 358 presentations and have another 212 presentations scheduled in March with a 2015 value of $195,000.
3,142 donors have participated in the 2016 Friends of Scouting campaign to date. Western Shore leads the way with 744.
Old Dominion, Patriot, Aquia and Goose Creek Districts are all tracking Gold for JTE in Friends of Scouting for 2015.

Membership Impact Discussion Items:
Each District should be developing their own 2016 District Membership Plan and will be reviewed and discussed on March 21st. Looking for new ideas and best practices.
District Join Scout Night trainings to take place during the month March. All Spring Join Scout Night materials are available at this time and please work through your district executives to obtain these materials.
Next Council Cub Scouting Membership Committee meeting will be held on March 21st at MSSC at 7:00 pm
New Pilot Program – Lions

New Pilot Program – Lions a new, Kindergarten-aged Scouting pilot program.
Approval Process - NCAC has submitted request to National BSA be included in the Lion Pilot program. We hope to hear in March of our acceptance.
Implementation Schedule• Early May Materials and training/webinars to be available.• Summer Approved Councils recruit volunteers and provide training. • Fall 2016 Councils recruit youth. • Aug/Sept 2016 Councils begin offering Lion program as school year begins. • Summer 2017 New Lions graduate and attend Day Camp as new Tigers,
officially bridging into the Cub Scout program.

Next National Capital Area Councilwide Key 3 Meeting will take place on Thursday, June 2, 2016 and will be held at the Northern Virginia Community College, Richard J. Ernst Community Cultural Center, 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale, Virginia.
Dinner will be served at 6:00 PM with Service Area Meetings and our Council Key 3 Meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Those who paid for tonight’s event will rollover to the June 4th event.
June 2nd will feature training on the 2016 Nominating Committee Process with AVP Phillip Ramsey.
