WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF 5YEAR PLAN (INDIA)?

• any plan for national economic or industrial development specifying goals to be reached within a period of five years, especially as undertaken by the Soviet Union and China. 1925-1930. 1925-30; orig. probably as translation of Russian . British Dictionary definitions for Five-Year Plan Expand.

LET US LEARN IN BRIEF WHAT WE HAVE SEEN IN LAST PICTURE.

• Modernization of industries was a major highlight of the Eighth Plan of India .

Under this plan, the gradual opening of the Indian economy was undertaken to correct the burgeoning deficit and foreign debt. Meanwhile India became a member of the World Trade Organization 1 January 1995.

o This plan can be termed as, the Rao and Man Mohan model of economic development.

This plan was termed as Rao because in 1991-1996 the prime minister of India was P.V. Narasimha Rao .

OTHER MAJOR OBJECTIVES INCLUDED WERE (1992-1997)

• controlling population growth: policy of attempting to limit the growth in numbers of a population,  especially  in poor or densely populated parts of the indian.by programmed  of  contraception or sterilization 

• poverty reduction:

Poverty reduction is a term that describes the promotion of economic growth that will permanently lift as many people as possible over apoverty line. Poverty is the state of human beings who are poor.

• employment generation :

Generation (development of) employment – job creation for poor and educated persons – creating jobs by building up factories , industries etc.

strengthening the infrastructure

tourism management

institutional building

human resource development

involvement of panchayati raj

Nagar palikas , NGOs

decentralization and people's participation.
