POSIDONIA OCEANICA Posidonia OCEANICA is a seagrass species that is in Mediterranean Sea. It forms large underwater meadows that are an important part of the ecosystem. The fruit is free floating Balls of fibrous material from its foliage . is a flowering plant which lives in dense meadows or along channels in the sands of the Mediterranean. It is found at depths. Subsurface rhizomes and roots stabilize the plant. The leaves are bright green, perhaps turning brown with age. Leaves are arranged in groups, with older leaves on the outside. It grows best in clean waters, and its presence is a marker for lack of pollution. To date 51 natural products have been reported from P. oceanica.

Cymodocea nodosa

is a species of seagrass in the family Cymodoceaceae, it is restricted to growing underwater.has light green or greyish-green

leaves. The plant produces rhizomes with leaf scars. Thisrhizomes, sometimes produced at the end of long stems in the spring when water temperatures begin to rise after their winter minimum. The pollen is liberated into the sea and the seeds remain dormant until the following spring. This seagrass is found in shallow parts of the Mediterranean Sea. It grows at depths of down to ten metres in sandy sediments in sheltered locations and needs clear waters for photosynthesis.

Zostera marina is a species of seagrass known by the common names common eelgrass and seawrack. It is an aquatic plant. was determined to be 3000 years old. This species is the most wide-ranging marine flowering plant in the Northern Hemisphere.[1] It lives in cooler ocean waters and in the warmer southern parts of its range it dies off during warmer seasons. It occurs in calmer waters in the sublittoralzone, where it is rarely exposed to air. It anchors via rhizomes in sandy or muddy substrates and its leaves catch particulate debris in the water which then collects around the bases of the plants, building up the top layer of the seabed. This flowering plant is a rhizomatous herb which produces a long stem with hairlike green leaves . It is a perennial plant, but it may grow as an annual, grows horizontally through the substrate. The fruit is a nutlet with a transparent coat containing the seed. The plant disperses large distances when its stems break away and carry the fertile seeds to new areas. The seagrass is a favorite food of several species of waterfowl.
