Complete folded letter to Portsmouth, written on board the British warship H.M.S. “Samarang” to the author’s brother. The only Mexican markingis a weak strike of the Veracruz cancel on the reverse, together with a faint “MEXICO” in green showing that the ship docked in Falmouth on its return. 9 ◙ MAZATLAN YB-VC13+BP11, 1845 Carta entera a Londres enviada fuera de valija del correo a Ve- racruz, re-expedida a la Ciudad de México según anotación manuscrita al reverso por un re-expe- didor desconocido y nuevamente re-expedida por Sengstack & Schütte a los agentes Brunner Bü- sing quienes la depositaron en el Correo de Veracruz para ser entregada a la Agencia Postal del Consulado Británico a tiempo para que saliera en el Paquete Británico RMSP “Medway” que zarpó de Veracruz el Primero de Junio de 1845, con tarifa por cobrar de 4/6. Complete folded letter to London, forwarded to México City by unknown agent, it was then forwarded by Sengstack & Schüte to the forwarding agents in Veracruz Brunner Büsing, who posted it in the mail on time to catch the RMSP “Medway” who departed Veracruz on June 1st, 1845. 10 ◙ MAZATLAN YB-BP11, 1848 Carta sin la primera página interior, presimiblemente llevada en forma privaca por un propio hasta Veracruz y entregada directamente a la Agencia Postal del Consulado Británico cuya marca aparece al reverso junto a la de recepción en Londres en color rojo, donde se marcó con 2/3 por cobrar al destinatario. La mancha puede ser debida a algun proceso de desinfec- ción que se acostumbraba en muchos casos. Saliendo en el RMSP “Medway” de Veracruz el 18 de Mayo de 1848. Folded letter (missing the first page inside), presumably carried privately out of the mail by courier and taken directly to the British Consular Postal Agent, where it was backstamped, and besides appears the London receiving postmark in red, marked with 2/3 collect fee on delivery. The stain may be due to some disinfection process, even tough maritime mail from México to England did not normally receive such treatment. It left Veracruz on board RSMP “Medway” which sailed on May 18th, 1848. F E. 300.00 120.00

11 ◙ MAZATLAN YB-BP11, 1858 Cubierta fechada a Le Havre re-expedida en la Ciudad de México por Garruste Labadie a Veracruz sin marcas postales Mexicanas por lo que se presume que fue entre- gada directamente a la Agencia Postal del Consulado Británico en Veracruz en el frente muestra la marca de trénsito por Calais, 1F 60c del convenio con Gran Bretaña y con 16 decimes por cobrar mas tránsito por Paris y llegada a Le Havre ambos al reverso. 22 ◙ TAMPICO – Santa Anna de Tamaulipas YB-TM7, 1852 Carta entera enviada a Burdeos, Francia pa- gando Un Real al Correo Mexicano y transportado por el paquete Inglés a Liverpool y de allí a Calais donde se aplicó la marca en rojo de tránsito mas la rectangular de “Colonies & Art. 13” de acuerto al tratado postal que garantizaba el pago del porte marítimo al Correo Inglés, luego fue enviada a París y a Burdeos, su destino final. Complete folded letter to Bordeaux, France paying 1 Real to the Mexican Post Office for the land portion and then transported by the British Packet to Liverpool, then to Calais where they applied their transit marking plus the “Colonies & Art. 13” to guarantee payment for the sea portion to the British Post Office, then the letter went trough Paris to its final destination of Bordeaux.
