Product Application Application equipment / tools For mixing the product:

• Twin-paddle stirrer

For applying the product:

• Finishing roller (sheepskin roller, minimal shedding)

• Rubber blade, hard (for applying finish to topped surfaces)

Substrate preparation Polimar FCS Sealer Coat can be applied to hardened primer, waterproofing or to the self-levelling mortar, depending on the specification. Polimar FCS Sealer Coat must be used as a topcoat on Polimar FCS Wear Course.

Mixing First stir the tub contents thoroughly. Then add Polimar FCS Catalyst (2 bags) while stirring the resin at the slow-speed setting and mix for 2 minutes. Make sure that the product on the base and sides of the container is mixed in. At product temperatures < 10 °C the product should be stirred for 4 minutes, as the catalyst will take longer to dissolve.

Application Use the finish roller to apply an even layer of the mixed material (approx. 0.5 kg/m2). Avoid fluctuating layer thicknesses. Finish Design Options Finish design using Polimar FCS Deco Chips (suitable for low ultilised areas such as balconies – where enhanced slip resistance is required use aggregated wear or surfacing layers depending on specification) Use a hopper gun to apply Polimar FCS Deco Chips to the freshly applied finish while it is still wet. A maximum of 50 g/m2 can be applied, depending on the look you want to achieve. There should not be any excess chips (surface completely covered with chips) at any point.

Cleaning

If work is interrupted or when it is completed, clean the tools thoroughly with Polimar Acetone Cleaner within the pot life of the material (approx. 10 minutes). This can be done with a brush. Do not use the tools again until the

Polimar FCS Waterproofing & Detailing are high-grade, PMMA-based waterproofing resins with low-temperature flexibility and are used to provide durable reinforced waterproofing in areas such as roofing, balconies, walkways and car parks as part of the Polimar FCS Systems. Liquid application allows seamless waterproofing systems to be applied to large areas, and even the most complex roof penetrations and details to be securely incorporated.

Features and Benefits

• Highly flexible and crack-bridging even at extreme sub-zero temperatures

• Permanently weather-resistant (UV-, hydrolysis- and alkali-resistant)

• Fully bonded to the substrate, therefore no flow paths for water under the membrane

• Easy and fast application

• The most complex roof penetrations can be securely incorporated in the seamless waterproofing system

• Fast-curing

• Can also be applied at sub-zero temperatures

• Can be applied to almost all substrates, including variable substrates (when combined with Polimar FCS Primers)

• Solvent-free

• Test certificates and technical approvals (ETA, AbP) for the areas of roof waterproofing and the waterproofing of joints on water-impermeable concrete units

Areas of Application Polimar FCS Waterproofing is applied together with Polimar FCS Fleece reinforcement for waterproofing large areas and details on roofs, balconies, walkways and car parks. For utilised areas such as balconies, walkways and car parks Polimar FCS Waterproofing is applied in conjunction with Polimar FCS wearing and surfacing layers depending on the application and specification for each particular project. Polimar FCS Detailing is a variant of Polimar FCS Waterproofing that is more viscous / thixotropic to reduce run-off when applied to sloping and vertical surfaces. It is therefore used primarily for the waterproofing of details.

Page 6: Product Data Sheet Polimar FCS Sealer Coat May 2014 - IKO · Polimar FCS Sealer Coat is used as a topcoat or sealer layer for Polimar FCS systems. Description Polimar FCS Sealer Coat

Preparation for subsequent layers such as bonded tiles or loose-laid surfacing a) Fully bonded surfacing (e.g. tiles)

Once the waterproofing has cured, apply an additional covering layer of Polimar FCS Waterproofing (approx. 1.5 kg/m2) and top with a generous amount of sand while still wet (quartz sand 0.7 – 1.2 mm). Vacuum off the excess/loose sand after the surface has hardened. The topping gives the surface the necessary roughness that allows the subsequent surfacing supplied by others to be bonded onto the base. Never apply the topping to the waterproofing layer. Only use dry quartz sand.

b) Loose-laid surfacing (e.g. stone slabs) Once the waterproofing has cured, apply an additional covering layer of Polimar FCS Waterproofing (approx. 1.5 kg/m2). This protects the waterproofing layer against the mechanical loads of the surfacing supplied by others.

Cleaning

If work is interrupted or when it is completed, clean the tools thoroughly with Polimar Acetone Cleaner within the pot life of the material (approx. 10 minutes). This can be done with a brush. Do not use the tools again until the Acetone Cleaner has evaporated fully. Simply immersing the tools in the Acetone Cleaner will not prevent the material from hardening.

Description Polimar FCS Catalyst is an essential component of PMMA-based Polimar products. It both starts and adjusts the curing reaction. The speed of the reaction is adjusted to the ambient conditions by modifying the amount of catalyst added.

Material Oxygen-rich, powdered peroxide-based compound

Features and Benefits • Easily soluble • Highly effective

Areas of Application Polimar FCS Catalyst is mixed with Polimar PMMA products to enable the curing process to take place. It both initiates and controls the speed of the curing reaction. The reaction speed can be influenced by adjusting the amount added, and this method is used to adapt the reaction to the ambient conditions (temperatures).

Packaging 0.10 kg in plastic bag

Colours Polimar FCS Catalyst is a white powder.

Storage The catalyst must only be stored in closed containers and in dry areas, away from heat and ignition sources, and at temperatures below +30 °C. In the original packaging it has a minimum shelf life of 6 months. The influence of heat can cause the powder clump together and can reduce its effectiveness. The powder can self-ignite if it is heated to a higher temperature, e.g. by direct sunlight. Consequently direct sunlight should also be avoided on site.

Required amounts of catalyst The amount of catalyst required is dependent on the product used, the quantity of product and the temperature conditions. For further details about the recommended quantities of catalyst please refer to the product information sheets for Polimar PMMA-based products.
