INTRODUCTION

With the benevolence and blessings of Lord Sri Venkateswara and the indomitable will and untiring efforts of His Excellency Shri Rameshwar Thakur Ji the then Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University was established in July, 2006, under the sponsorship of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams. The Cabinet of Andhra Pradesh in its meeting held on 7th July 2006, decided to establish Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, and requested His Excellency Governor to promulgate the ordinance providing for the establishment of the University. On 12th July, 2006, His Excellency promulgated the ordinance. Thus the University came into existence. The ordinance was later replaced by the Act, 29/2006.

Since then the university has gone for beyond in all spheres of its motives with dazzling achievements. At earlier stage it’s started the courses which include Vedas, Agamas, Pourohitya, Vedabhasya, Vedangas and Sastras gradually it has grown up with six faculties and Twenty five departments. To achieve its fourth objective, it has started general courses – B.A, Bsc, and M.A in the academic Year 2012-13. So far two batches at UG Level and three batches in PG Level have successfully completed their courses and gone out with their degrees.

Objectives:

To preserve, foster and promote oral traditions of Vedic, Agamic and cognate

literature with focus on right intonations.

To conduct research and propagate the relevance of knowledge system and the

wisdom contained in the Vedic literature for meeting the challenges of life in the

technology driven contemporary society. To bring out the profoundness of the rational approach and the scientific temper

presented in the Vedas in the context of pursuit of knowledge and realization of

higher levels of consciousness. To consolidate, revive and promote the Vedic learning and Sanskrit study as also

to integrate the scientific thought contained in the Vedas particularly in the

disciplines of Mathematics, Astronomy, Agriculture, Meteorology, Chemistry,

Metallurgy, Yoga, Humanities, Social Sciences and Management with the

modern Scientific and Technological studies, so that through integration of Vedic

and Scientific knowledge can be facilitated. To bring out awareness about the authentic interpretation of the Veda in India

and abroad facilitating proper understanding of richness of the rational approach

to life and scientific temper presented in the Vedic knowledge system. To publish all the Vedas and related Texts, Bhashyas and commentaries in all

Indian languages.

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, the pearl nestled in the oyster shell of the

Seven Hills on the Alipiri – Chandragiri By-Pass Road is a serene and sanctified

premise. Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams allotted 300 acres of land near Alipiri,

Tirupathi for S.V.Vedic University for construction of buildings.

The major part of construction work has been completed and in this wake all the

departments of the University including Academic Centre and Administrative Buildings

have become functionary in place of pleasant landscape, which is replete with heart

attracting flora and fauna.

Saradadhama the cluster of the Academic Buildings include Brahma Sadanam,

Agama Nilayam, Grihya Sadanam and Vidyaranya Nilayam stand high in the lap of this

picturesque environment. RAMESWARAM named in honour of the revered Founder

Chancellor, is a majestic and impressive structure housing the stalwarts of

administration and the official machinery. The Annapurna Sadanam a spacious dining

hall adjacent to the student’s hostel endears itself to one and all. UGC Recognition

Sri Venkateswara Vedic University is the first University statutorily established

with unique features for promotion and propagation of Vedic wisdom. The University

Grants Commission vide its notification No. F.9-4/ 2007(CPP-I), dated 10th July 2007

recognized Sri Venkateswara Vedic University under section 2(f) of UGC Act 1956.

OUR EMBLEM

1. The round shape of the emblem denotes the Vedic Passage “Purnamadah

Purnamidam” conveying a sense of all pervasive Supreme Soul, the pace of time

and uninterrupted evoluation. 2. The blue colour symbolizes Lord Sri Krishna and infinity. 3. The “Omkara” is the beginning of the Vedas and the creation. 4. The Urdhvapundra reminds us the Venkatesatattva emerged from “Omkara”. It also

resembles an open book containing knowledge. The red stroke in the middle

resembles the up going flame of a lamp symbolizing the spread of knowledge. 5. The byline teaches us to follow the path unfolded by the Vedas.

SALIENT FEATURES OF THE UNIVERSITY

It is an internationally acclaimed higher Education Center for Vedas and Sastras.

Students throng to it from various parts of the country and across the globe in pursuit of their education. It has been specially set up to conduct traditional courses in UG, PG and advanced Research in the areas of Veda and allied modern subjects.

Faculty

The members of the faculty are specialized in their respective areas. Their

Student - Centered Education System

Computer Training coaching will be given to students in the certificate course of DTP. Youth Festival

Vedic Youth Festival is annually conducted by Sri Venkateswara Vedic University, wherein a common platform is provided for the students of various Pathasalas to prove their latent talents in various academic and co-curricular fields. Yoga Training

Controlling one’s mind is vital for enhanced concentration. This, for ages has been secured through Yoga. This feature has been inculcated into the mainstream of this University’s education under a well trained Yoga instructor. Gymnasium

A healthy body houses a healthy mind. Keeping this adage in mind, a well equipped Gymnasium has been established for the benefit of the students.

Educational Tour `

Every year one local and one national educational tour

is organized by the University. The students are allowed to visit different places of historical and educational importance.

Sanskrit and English Spoken Classes

Training is provided to the students for improving their fluency in Sanskrit and English. Practical Training

Students undergo practical training in performing different rituals. Vedic Museum

Candidates seeking admission into any of the above courses offered by Sri

Venkateswara Vedic University, Tirupati can obtain the prescribed application along

with prospectus in person, from The Registrar, Sri Venkateswara Vedic University,

Tirupati on a requisition indicating the course in which they want admission. The

application form can also be downloaded from the website:

www.svvedicuniversity.ac.in A demand draft for Rs.100/- (Rs.50/- in case of SC/ST

students) drawn in favor of Registrar, S.V.Vedic University payable at Tirupati must

accompany filled in application form. The envelopes containing the filled in applications

should be super scribed as “Application for admission into B.A./B.Sc./M.A./

P.G.Diploma /Diploma/Certificate course in ...........................for the academic year

2017-2018”. Filled in applications should be sent to the following address on or

before 5-06-2017. With late fee Rs.200/- June 12th, 2017 & with late fee Rs.500/-

June 22nd 2017.

The candidates seeking admission should send the application in the prescribed form.

1. The application form should be filled in and signed by the applicant in his/her own

hand writing. The declaration must be signed by the candidate and by the parent or

guardian. 2. The candidates must enclose duly attested Xerox copies of the following

certificates along with the filled in application, failing which the application will be

summarily rejected.

i. Provisional/Original pass certificates of the last qualifying examination.

ii. Marks statement showing the marks obtained in each examination right from Matriculation/ SSC/OSLC to the last qualifying examination.

iii. Date of birth certificate iv. Study cum Conduct certificate

3. Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will be rejected. The

office of the University will not be held responsible for delay in receipt of application

4. Students will be admitted based on eligibility, merit, good conduct etc. as determined by the University.

5. The candidates must attend in person and produce the original documents along

with three sets of Photostat copies listed above in clause 2 at the time of interview to

be conducted on a specified date and time failing which he/she will not be

considered for admission. If the admission is offered, he/she shall pay the fee

immediately failing which he/she shall forfeit the seat. The next candidate in the

merit list will be considered for admission. 6. All the original certificates have to be deposited in the office at the time of

admission. The candidates are requested to retain sufficient Xerox copies of their

certificates with them in case they need it at a later date. 7. Admission will be confirmed after personal interview and/or the written test. 8. No student will be permitted to appear for any other University examination during

the period of study in the University.

9. The name of the student will be removed from the rolls or he/she may be expelled, if

he/she participates in illegal, anti-national, anti-social activities, strikes, ragging etc.

10. Students will not be allowed to change the optional subject after one month from the date of joining.

11. The candidates should submit two copies of recent passport size photographs at the

time of admission, separately. 12. The University reserves the right of admission. 13. The University reserves the right to run or not to run any course.

Reservations

Reservations are applicable for admission into University Courses as per the

existing rules of Government of Andhra Pradesh. A few seats are also reserved for the

children of the employees of the University. Medium of Instruction

Except languages for all other modern subjects the medium of instruction and

examination shall be English only. For traditional subjects the medium of instruction

shall be Sanskrit only. Minimum Instruction Days

The minimum instruction days for each academic year shall be 180. Attendance Requirements 1. A student is required to complete the program of study satisfying the attendance

requirements in all the years within a period of six academic years from the year of

admission failing which he/she forfeits his/her seat. 2. A student shall be detained if he/she fails to put up an overall attendance of 75% to

satisfy the attendance requirements.

3. The University may condone the shortage of attendance as specified below:

a) on Medical grounds - 5%

-15- b) by Vice-Chancellor in consultation with the Dean - 5%

c) on payment of condonation fee - 5%

A student who fails to satisfy the attendance requirements specified in clauses

(2) and (3) shall repeat that academic year with the permission of the University.

A student shall not be permitted to study any year more than three times during

the entire program of study.

A student who satisfies the attendance requirements specified in either of the

clauses (2) and (3) in any year may be permitted to repeat that year canceling the

previous attendance and any sessional marks of that year with the permission of the

University. However, this facility shall not be extended to any student more than twice

during the entire program of study as specified in clause (1). Conditions of Promotion

a. A student shall be eligible for promotion to the second year if he/she satisfies the

attendance requirements in first year as specified above.

b. A student shall be eligible for promotion to the third year if he/she satisfies the

attendance requirements in second year as specified above. Mode of Examination

There shall be two sessional tests and one annual examination in each theory

subject during every academic year.

Sessional test I will be held immediately after the completion of 72 instruction

days covering the syllabus of the first two units. Sessional test II will be held immediately after the completion of 144 instruction

days covering the syllabus of third and fourth units.

For each theory subject, there shall be an annual examination at the end of the

academic year. This will be of 3 hours duration covering the entire syllabus prescribed

for the subject.

For each practical subject, the concerned teacher shall award the sessional

marks based on the continuous assessment of experimental work. The concerned

teacher and an external examiner shall hold the Year-End Examination. Sri Venkateswara Vedic University reserves the right to amend these regulations

at any time in future without any notice. Further, the interpretation if any of the clauses

of these regulations entirely rests with the University. Code of Conduct

The following rules and regulations must be strictly followed by the students of the University.

1. All students should attend the classes regularly and promptly without fail.

2. Each and every student must be self-disciplined while attending the classes.

3. Any student, disturbing class-room atmosphere or causing inconvenience in any

form to the teachers or to the students, shall be sent out from class room by the Teacher and “absent” shall be marked.

4. Any student found causing damage to the property of University will be liable to Disciplinary action. Besides, the repair/replacement charges of the damaged property will be recovered from the student/parent/guardian.

5. All kinds of correspondence with University by the students should be addressed

to the Registrar through their Heads of the Department concerned.

6. Students are strictly forbidden from taking part in any activity prejudicial to the University.

7. Students are expected to uphold the prestige of the University and therefore they

are strictly prohibited from participating in any activity that would sully the reputation of the University.

8. Any student if found guilty of criticizing the conduct of the University any where is

liable to be punished.

9. The Students shall not take part in any political meetings / activities which are likely to create unrest in the campus.

10. The use of cell phones in the University by the students is strictly prohibited. The

cell phone if found with the students will be taken by the University and will be handed over to the parents / guardian after receiving suitable explanation.

11. Students who are found guilty of any act of indiscipline and those who resort to

agitations will be expelled from the University.

12. Students indulging in unlawful, immoral activities etc., shall be punished.

13. Every student will be issued an identity card soon after admission which has to be carried by them and it shall be produced to the authorities on demand; the loss of identity card should be reported immediately to the University authorities.

14. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited. If any incident of ragging comes to the

notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority will take necessary disciplinary action including expulsion.

15. The Registrar is empowered to impose the following punishments on the

students in the best interest of the students and the institution:

(a) Levy of penalty or marking absent in the attendance register or both

(b) Stoppage of issue of certificates.

(c) Suspension / expulsion from the institution

(d) Any other action which the authorities may deem fit in the circumstances of the case.

Hostel facility:

Usually admission will be provided to the day scholars, however University will

provide limited hostel facility to UG and PG Regular Course non local candidates with

the following terms and conditions.

1. University will provide hostel facility for non local candidates only.

2. The candidate must pay the hostel fee at the time of Hostel Admission.

3. Hostel will be allotted based on the merit, good conduct etc.

4. The candidates must follow the terms and conditions ordered by the authorities

of the University time to time without fail.

5. University reserves right to cancel the hostel facility under disciplinary action or

any other circumstances to any candidate at any stage of Study without giving

any notice.

6. University will provide hostel facility only for the candidates successfully

completed the Course in each Academic Year.

7. University will not entertain any illegal, anti-national, anti-social activities, strikes,

ragging etc in the premises of the hostel.
