Brenda Jones Memorial/Columbia Urban League Scholarship

To be eligible, students must be seniors and are required to have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This is a one-time award. An essay, family tax information, a college letter of acceptance, and a transcript are some of the requirements along with documentation of involvement in community activities and service projects. $5,000 is awarded each year to a graduating African-American high school senior who resides in Richland, Lexington, Newberry, Fairfield or Sumter counties. Congressional Black Caucus Heineken Performing Arts Scholarship

This program was established in 2000 in honor of the late Curtis Mayfield to ensure that students pursuing a degree in the performing arts receive financial assistance. Congressional Black Caucus Spouses Education Scholarship

Seeing an educational need in their congressional districts, the CBC Spouses Education Scholarship was established in 1988 by the spouses of Congressional Black Caucus members in response to federal cuts in spending for education programs and scholarships, which disproportionately affect people of color. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. (Columbia Alumnae Chapter) Scholarship

$1,000 scholarships will be awarded in the following two categories: (1). High School graduating senior (male or female) planning to attend a college or university. (2). Erskine College Presidential Scholarship

The Erskine Presidential Scholarship selection committee will choose five highly motivated and creative individuals whose activities reflect qualities of leadership and service in their respective schools, churches, and communities. The selection committee will consider the following factors: (1) Outstanding academic performance in high school, (2) Christian commitment, (3) Demonstrated leadership and service in school, church, and community, and (4) Desire and potential to excel at Erskine. Gamecock Guarantee/University of South Carolina

This is a need based financial and academic support initiative. It covers the cost of undergraduate tuition. At a minimum, it provides a student with an award of $2,500 per year. Eligibility includes the following: be a resident of South Carolina, apply for admission to USC on or before December 1, be admitted to USC-Columbia, submit the FAFSA by March 1, have a family taxable income for the most recently completed tax year that is not greater than 150% of the Department of Health and Human Services poverty guidelines, be eligible to receive a federal Pell Grant, enroll as a first-time, full-time freshman for fall semester, pursue a bachelor's degree, be a first generation college student (neither parent has completed a four-year degree).

The Hampton Wildlife Fund offers four scholarships to South Carolina graduating seniors.

Harry Hampton Scholarship is a 4-year $5,000/year scholarship for students majoring in wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, or marine science.

Wallace F. Pace Scholarship is a one year $2,500 scholarship for students majoring in wildlife biology, fisheries biology, forestry, or marine science.

David M. Cline Scholarship is a one year $2,000 scholarship for students majoring in law enforcement/criminal justice/forensic science.

Hopkins High School Alumni Foundation 2016 Scholarship

One - $500 scholarship, One - $1,000 scholarship will be awarded students who are descendants of graduates of Hopkins High School. An essay, a high school transcript, a GPA of 2.5 or higher for the $500 scholarship or the $1,000 scholarship and a GPA of 3.5 or higher, a letter of recommendation, a copy of an acceptance letter are required for the $1,500 scholarship. Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship Program

This scholarship is for persons who have completed or will complete a high school diploma program (or GED) by Spring 2017, and intend to pursue postsecondary education at a community college or technical school in Fall 2017. National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Columbia South Carolina Chapter, is in search of 2017 scholarship candidates. The establishment of the scholarship actuates one of our goals; the encouragement of African-American females to continue their education beyond high school. Applicants must be a May 2017 graduating senior, be a student in a Richland One or Richland Two high school, and have a minimum 3.5 grade point average on a 4 point scale. Newberry College Student Loan Repayment Program

Newberry College recognizes that many students and parents have concerns about the amount of loans required to finance higher education. Beginning in Fall 2016, all incoming freshmen at Newberry College will automatically be enrolled in the Newberry College Loan Repayment Promise, a loan repayment assistance program. The Loan Repayment Promise is a loan repayment assistance program, which helps college graduates with modest incomes repay their student (and parent PLUS) loans. Here’s how it works: Student must attend and graduate from Newberry College, Graduate must be employed, and Incomes below $36,000 may qualify for loan repayment assistance. Richland County Education Association 2015 Essay Scholarship

$1,000 to one student in Richland School District One.

$1,000 to one student in Richland School District Two.

$1,500 to one child of a Current RCEA member of Richland School District One.

$1,500 to one child of a Current RCEA member of Richland School District Two.

This award is open to all seniors with a minimum 2.5 GPA, enrolled in Richland

School Districts One and Two public schools and are children of current RCEA

members (not currently serving on the RCEA Board of Directors). An essay (500

Ron Brown Scholarship Program

The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. Each year, a minimum of ten students will be designated Ron Brown Scholars and will receive $10,000 annually for four years, for a total of $40,000. The recipients may use the renewable scholarships to attend an accredited four-year college or university of their choice within the United States.

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior, must have maintained a “C” average or better in high school and a “B” average in high school business courses, must plan to enter a post high school, accredited institution in the fall term following the granting of the scholarship, and must be a United States citizen and a resident of South Carolina. Applicants must complete an SCAEOP Scholarship Application form; write a one-page biographical sketch on “Why I am Choosing a Career in Business”; secure a letter of recommendation from a principal, counselor, or other school administrator; secure a letter of recommendation from a business education teacher; secure a letter of recommendation from someone other than an SCAEOP member or family member; secure an official high school transcript; and submit these items to the SCAEOP scholarship chairman at the address stated on the application form.

South Carolina Education Association - Retired

This scholarship is awarded annually and is designed to encourage promising young people to prepare for careers in the field of education at an accredited four-year college or university in South Carolina. The annual amount is $1000, of which $500 is paid per semester for four consecutive years. This scholarship is for members of South Carolina Federal Credit Union in good standing OR U.S. residents who are eligible to apply for membership at the time of the scholarship application. Offers the state's brightest and best students up to $24,000 over four years. The YFL Scholarship Program is available for current high school seniors and first year college freshman.
