Feliz dia de la Madre Happy Mother’s Day

My sheep hear my voice! What does Jesus give us through

the resurrection? The simple yet profound answer is found in today’s gospel: ‘My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life.’ Through the power of the resurrection, Jesus shares with us what the Father shared with him; he gives us what the Father gives him, eternal life. This is a free gift; we can’t do anything to deserve it, warrant it or demand it. Yet, it does require some response on our part, and again we find this in our gospel. How do we come know Jesus in a personal way with an intimate friendship? We experience Jesus through hearing his voice and then following him. Jesus never stops calling each of us personally; He reaches out to us when he says ‘I call you by your name, you are mine.’ And then having being called out love, we are invited and even challenged to follow him. Each of us follows Jesus in our own unique and sacred way according to our own baptismal call. During this Easter season, we pray that we will appreciate he gift of eternal life that is being made available to us, that we listen to the voice of Jesus calling and that we will follow him.

For those whose mothers and grandmothers are still alive, cherish them today. Hug and kiss them. Honor them. Thank them. For those whose mothers have gone home to the Lord, remember them. For all who bear the name Christian, the name of our eternal family, let us also honor the Mother of the Lord today. Her maternal care for Jesus still embraces all those who are joined to Him, as members of His Body, by that great new birth of Baptism. Finally, let us ask the Lord to open our eyes, and our hearts, to come to more fully understand the great mystery and gift of the Church as our Mother. Let us live our lives as Christians, by living in the heart of Mother Church, for the sake of the world into which we are sent to bear the Good News. May the Lord who called you to be co-creators with Him bless you today and always with health, peace, and joy! Thanks for giving us the precious gifts of life, faith, and love!

There will be a mother’s day celebration for the English speaking community of both Parishes on Tuesday May 21st at 6:00pm at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall. There will be a signing sheet at the entrance of both

churches. (Spanish Celebration to be announced)

First Communions

Thank you to all catechists and their families for their service to instruct and help form our children, teens, and families in communion with God and His Church. Last Sat-urday, May 4th, we had our First Communion Mass. 45 chil-dren were welcomed by the Lord and His Church to the Table. It was a day full of grace, life, and hope. The invitation is to continue working for the salvation of all in the middle of our human situations and struggles, because nothing is impossible with God.

The month of May - the month of Mary In this month of May dedicated to Mary, let us continue saying the Rosary.
