Renewable Energy CertificatesThe environmental attribute of 1 MWh of renewable electricity.

RECs can be separated from the underlying and traded.

RECs allow access to renewable projects where they are cost effective.

RECs are an accepted legal instrument.

Utilities in Kentucky offer REC standard programs ( green energy programs).

Utilities can enter into REC purchasing agreements for customers

Renewable Energy Fast FactsIn 2016, half of all new hydroelectricity generating capacity brought into service in the United States was located in Kentucky.

The largest source of renewable energy in Kentucky is hydroelectric power, which provides more than 4% of the state's electricity generation.

Biomass accounts for 0.4% of the state's net generation from renewables.

Kentucky has moderate solar potential.

Solar facilities are by far the largest component of distributed generation in Kentucky.

Utility scale solar is growing with almost all regulated utilities building solar projects.

Evaluating SolarDoes solar make sense for your location? PV Watts Calculator

What do you want to achieve with your solar installation?

Ask for references from your installer and work history

Look for a NABCEP solar installer and licensed electrician

Check the Better Business Bureau

Does your installer have appropriate business insurance ( general liability, worker’s compensation, etc.)?

Do they have any safety or health (OSHA) violations? Have they received the proper OSHA training?

Is the installer financially solvent?

System warranties, etc.?
